It was a good day though.

The last week or so I've been reading The Mental Game of Poker, 21 Indespensable Qualities of a Leader by John Maxwell and I've been reciting my Poker Creed before every session I've played since last Monday. If one thinks of NLHE to be a war, preparation is as important as the technical knowledge. Reading, reflecting and studying helps immensly with that preparation. I regret not reading more sooner, but, I am certainly looking forward to what lies ahead.

So far in August, 5k hands, ~18BB/100. Looking to improve on that over the next 5k hands and here's how.

I'll continue my pregame warm-up, continue studying and looking for just 2 more folds when it's fairly obvious I'm beat. I actually have 2 hands in mind yesterday where I just got stubborn and it cost me ~165BBs.

Ended with modest win of 59BB. One thing I noticed is that sometimes the first hand of the session gets missed being recorded, not just in PT4 but in the HH folder. Any ideas why that happens?

Variance is what makes poker profitable. It's what makes the recs keep coming back and it's why I know I shouldn't let a reg spiking a 2 outer otr (when I bet pot ott) for a 400bb pot get to me. Head down, stay focused on playing each hand as best I can. It's all I can control.

You should able to crush without a even or positive red line, at 2NL most of the money will still (despite some claims) be made by making better hands and getting the most value out of them, eg blue line. Generally (though not always) in games where Value betting is the best skill to learn properly,

Obviously PF selection and all that **** too, but in reality learning how to destroy fish at 2NL is done with Value betting them to death, so redline wont be great (they dont fold or the villians your aiming for should not be)

but that doesnt mean you can't learn good spots to take the pot down with some well times/placed bets in small pots, all those little pots add up.

Years ago I had a heavily negative redline and was still +EV

not saying bluffs have no place, but big ones should be far between eachother and just spend time on figuring out why a flop is dry for villian and wet for you, despite what your cards actually are. Ranges and it depends :P lol

Fold pre, call flop, unless planning to jam, and even then you are getting snapped by better always, including spades from time to time. calling pot size bets just cause u gots some outs and show down value generally wont be the way to go, calling with T9s to 3bets isnt fantastic either, ok were not going to be dominated often but 99+ has us crushed, plus 88- is a flip, you got lucky with that flop, understand that and you were still -ev all the way through,

protect against 3bets but pick a range that defends well, Even K3s can out flop queens,

Fold pre is crazy talk, even at 2NL where we can be super exploitable. Defending K3s over this hand is even crazier (if that is what youre actually suggesting).

Too much SDV to be raising that flop though. We're not exactly thrilled to be playing for stacks with a pair of nines and outs.

First, I appreciate the feedback. It's not often I get any input on hands...from anyone. I posted so many.

Second, I don't open K3s from the CO unless I specifically plan to 4b a crazy 3b'er from the blinds, which is next to never (once in 400k hands).

Third, is raising otf with so much equity (against a reg) that much of a mistake when I do not expect him to 3b otf?
