Re: Goal To $100K

Hey just come across your thread. What you're doing is pretty cool.

What's your typical schedule like? Are you mainly doing SNG MTTs or regular ones?

Re: Goal To $100K

Hey, I mainly play regular MTTs. I'm not playing many SNG MTTs at all just trying a few this month. I might only play them for 3-4 hours on Mondays and Weds when I go to jiu-jitsu at night.

My schedule has been all over the place I was playing super early mornings from 5 am till 5 pm the last couple weeks of January but I think I'll play around 10 am to 10 pm Tues/Thurs-sun for the next few months.I just finished working on a schedule that has around $24 CAD average (18.50 USD) buy-in and 45 mtts per day. I'll play that 4-5x a week with the same commitment I would at a job just making sure I show up and go to work and check out the MTTs like a work checklist. Mon/Weds will be kinda optional days to grind turbo mttsngs if I feel like it or review and study a bit.

I finished reading another James Patterson book - Cross Justice. It's a great book especially if you're into crime thrillers. James Patterson has to be the best author of all time.

I cleared out my FP funds and moved them to PS they were $625 usd.

I'm actually going to play very little on stars from now on and I think on Sundays I should just play 22 and below Stars stuff. I picked out reg speed tourneys across sites that have smallish fields for less variance and in games I think I could have 25-30% ROI in. I'll track my cashes and everything diligently and keep track of my ROI since sharkscope doesn't track some of the sites. It's time to get into a good routine for the next few months and by then I'll hopefully satelite to the Montreal 5 milly and have a much cushier bankroll.

Re: Goal To $100K

Yesterdays turbo session I lost about -260 CAD

Deposited 425 cad on BS

Today was a good day. Satty seat win, small HU chop and a 2nd and 3rd and 5th and 8th. The 8th was pretty meh AK<AQ for chiplead to come 8th with huge 4 shorter stacks 1150 up top.
I'm digging the new schedule with smaller fields, buyins and less variance.
I played 925 CAD in buyins from 2:45pm to 11:30pm and 38 mtts at avg buyin $24 CAD.
Total profit: 990 CAD today

11194+990-260

$11924/$100K

Tomorrow I plan on going to Jiu-jitsu so it'll be a turbo day I'll play 4-5 hours.

Re: Goal To $100K

I can't sleep. I've been thinking about this challenge and I might need to do a sub-challenge. Also since I started this challenge in September I bought the apartment and I need to make funding that my priority. I don't think I can donate until I'm set with that so I'm cool with just my christmas donation but I'll wait till I'll set with the apartment and possibly even only after I have it paid off to donate.

Now that I have great schedule I will start to get into a routine again. I'm going to do a 90 day sub challenge for 25k profit. I think I will mainly play tues, thurs-sun around 2:30-11pm and maybe start a few hours earlier on Sundays and maybe some of the days I feel good. I'll take mondays and weds fully off and just once in a while play turbo sessions but I should use these days to relax, read, review and study stuff.

10 things I want to do during this challenge:
1. No alcohol
2. Juice everyday
3. 200 MTTs per week
4. 20 KM ran per week
5. Jiu-jitsu 2-3x per week
6. 225 lbs by the end of it (losing 30 lbs)
7. Read 1 book every 2 weeks (roughly 25-30 pages per day)
8. The 8-10 min workout I posted earlier in the thread everyday
9. 20K buyins per month (800 MTT per month around 25 cad avg buyin)
10. 100-150 Ks every other day

I have a eraser board in my room I'm going to leave the marker by my computer everyday to make sure I update it. I'll enjoy this schedule and routine and hopefully in 3 months I'll satelite to the Montreal 5 milly then bink and come back and reassess my schedule or get back into the routine for another 3 months. I rarely missed days at work so I will really treat this like a job and make sure I show up everyday on time.

Re: Goal To $100K

I went to jiu-jitsu today and it went well but my skin gets pretty irritated. I gotta suck it up and still go 3x per week.

I just saw my blood test report online it's pretty messed up it seems. myhealth.ca lets you see the report before seeing the doctor but I still have to go in and see him.

I had to google what high ALT meant but I know I drank way too often and too much in the younger days. I guess so the livers a bit messed up. I didn't drink often last year but was probably hammered 10-15 times still which is too much.I think if I'm gonna grind poker long-term I should go back to a standing desk or treadmill. I tried a treadmill but it was a **** used treadmill. I had a standing desk for over a year and it was good.

I think this was the first time seeing my graph on 888 filtered for lowerstakes in comparison to my overall 888 graph:

It's pretty eye opening. I should really stick to lower stakes for a long time until my game is super solid and I have a big bankroll.

That standing desk treadmill might be the solution.

Fk it I'm withdrawing $1k from playnow and buying it. It should have decent resale value too so I should think of it as a lease for like $300 or something

Yeah I'd say playing slightly lower average stakes is probably a better idea for now, even if you are a slight winner at the higher ones. not an expert though.

Treadmill desk is obviously optimal no matter what you do

Re: Goal To $100K

True yeah 3 months of lowstakes and probably just the whole year it's still possible to make a decent living assuming 20k in buyins per month and 25% ROI.

I bought it. It's pretty damn expensive but I've spent so much on alcohol without consideration so it really shouldn't be a decision.

There's no way this is accurate btw right?:

It seems way too high, I'd estimate maybe 2000 calories max gets burned.

Re: Goal To $100K

Withdrawing 2000 usd from stars too and moving 1k usd from 888 to stars. Total balances will be -3615 CAD I think I still have enough for the stakes I'm playing.

Looking into the treadmill it really would be around 3000 cal burned. I guess I can go back to eating insane calorie. Back in the day I was a fitness freak. I'd work landscaping mowing lawns in the summer while playing soccer 5x a week for university soccer and sometimes I'd do the grouse grind after practice and still had energy for the gf back then. When school started I still worked a bit landscaping somehow but **** back then I could eat tons. Then I went from that to doing nothing without adjusting my diet enough for the lack of exercise. I guess I'll be doing the treadmill grind 5x a week it'll probably be 50-55 hours in total then jiu-jitsu a few times a week.

I gotta make some juice then get started today. My neck is sore AF from the choke outs in jiu-jitsu.

-250 cad today added another 150e to BS
812 buyins 27 mtts about 22 cad avg buyin
I had too many tables at some points early in the session. I should hold off on some tourneys or late reg them when tables are lower.

You pay fees on all these sites transfer of money, or you go through other players. I know that 888 charges fees for deposits/withdrawals... Good luck on the weight loss (I lost about 10-12kgs this winter in Asia ).

Re: Goal To $100K

Nice that's pretty solid. I gotta try to get down below 200lbs and stay around 180-190lbs. The withdrawal fees are a bit rediculous withdrawing and depositing on most sites. I was lucky I traded a friend for an bank email money transfer at xe.com rates so I didn't lose any money withdrawing. There are a couple money transfer skype group chats. I can't sleep right now going on a reading binge a 1/3 through James Pattersons Hope To Die book. It started off full pace and crazy so it's been tough to put down.

Re: Goal To $100K

Really good day today it started with this hand really cracking me up I'll find the actual HH but he called river shove here with 5 high the nut low hand:

I started the day punting a few big stacks early to get that out of the way then played some of my better poker.

And I'll expose myself for the modzillapl fan and wannabe that I am:

He's a friend he knows and it was embarassing telling him after I met him. We stayed in Edmonton together for a tournament series with another friend last year. I guess it's similar to a friend telling another friend they have a female poker name or something.

I was a bit choked to come 2nd I was chip leading most of the tourney and FT and didn't run super good HU. I made one mistake kinda and was punished. I shoved over his limp with a hand I could've checked back I was recording and even said "he's probably trapping this time" but oh well still pumped for the first 4 figure score in a while. These smaller tourneys are so top heavy I gotta ship one once in a while.

I haven't shipped something in a while but it's coming the runs are there.

And finally chopped the Big 7.50 5 handed. I was the shorty under half the stack of the next closest guys and pretty tired so feel good getting just over 4th place I gave up $30 to make the deal happen.

Total buyins today was exactly $900 profit was $2459 and I played 39 mtts avg buyin 23 all in CAD.

11914+2459=
$14383/$100K

Since Feb 15th Mini 2.5-3 month challenge:
Total tourneys played with new schedule 114.
Total Buyins: 2637
Total Cashes: 5806
Total Profit: 3169

I've been going hard reading as well 187 pages in 3 days I'll finish a few more chapters tonight. I think I can do a book a week if they're good books. I'll only check weight once in a while but I won't lose much until I start using the walking treadmill. I overate today pretty bad just now after not eating much all day and starving. I had to order minumum $30 sushi for delivery even though I'm so close and ordered twice as much as I wanted and ate too much of it.

Cheers I'm trying to remember a few interesting hands here was one:
I should probably be betting a bit bigger this deep but I've been min cbetting a bit here and there in some spots in shallower stack situations vs wide defending ranges on dry boards but yeah looking back I'm not sure how good it is this deepstacked. I like how he played it though I wonder if piosolver would fold Q7 go with Q8 though.

I'm interested what your thought process was an calling the river.

I guess he'd presumably just xb A-high hands for showdown value and bluffs the stuff that can't win?

The Cbet is really tiny - id have thought you could bet bigger than that for value with most of your range on that sort of flop texture.

I was kinda just messing around with the tiny cb I should go a bit bigger but it's tough for most people to meet the minimum defense frequency even with that size when they have wide flatting ranges on really dry boards. It was vs a pretty good player who defends BB well. In general, in those river spots, I don't think people value bet thinly at all so they're unbalanced to more air.

      Re: Goal To $100K

Today started off with a ton of mincashes. I had around 20 tables for what must've been 4-5 hours I wasn't busting much early on. On my deep runs I had a 2nd in the BetOnline $5r 1k gt pretty annoying to come 2nd to a recreational player but happy with the score:

Then in the 3K GT on the FT bubble 2/11 I raised KTo on only 22bbs from CO the chipleading BU flatted. He's been flatting me everyhand. He called my 11bb SB shove with 64o to double me up and seemed annoyed by that lol. Anyway I think flop went KQ4 I check he bets biggish I check call turn I check he jams I say fml call he has QQ drawing dead. I think he'd play any queen or pair like that:

Then I get 3 handed in Bodog $22 $4k gt and:

I still had chips left after that but finished 3rd for $578:

THERE IS JUSTICE IN THE WORLD THOUGH:

Forgot to unreg a tourney and stuck trying to play it out I hate punting but might just do it to rest for tomorrow. There was a pretty funny hand guy folded 195 chips on river in 68k pot:

My bad for not sticking it on flop lol.

This is how I track things:

I just checked my cbet % it's pretty damn low but I like playing this style:

I think I make more chips off the junk of people's range as long as my overall checkfold as preflop raiser doesn't get high I don't think it's too exploitable. Plus I can look at bet vs missed cbet stats or check raise a ton etc. Especially OOP when regs that are like 21/18 flat IP with such a tight flatting range. Reminds me I've seen Pads video and his overall cold call% is 17% in there, I gotta get mine up there. Mine's around 12%.

My CBet is always high but I see a lot of the regs, including you have it low. Do you vary your CBet frequency based on the opponent or do you play a similar strat vs everyone?

      Re: Goal To $100K

I base it on opponent and board. I think most people have pretty tight IP flat-calling ranges so my low cbet % is mainly OOP. If you've ever played Razz you might understand my logic here but when we play razz whoever has the obvious best cards (board) showing takes the betting lead. If I raise EP 17% and someone flats IP and I pull up a custom popup I made:

If the player is in CO he has a 6% flatting range vs EP. Even removing QQ+, AK there are very few boards that I have the range advantage on and I'm just gonna have more air compared to the IP flatter so I think I should give up the betting lead on most boards. Who has the betting lead shouldn't really matter. I've been experimenting this month my OOP cbet is like 22% but my EP winrates gone up quite a bit even though it's a small sample and I'm playing a softer schedule. Anyway I gotta do a lot more work studying population tendencies and different types or regs and flatting ranges etc etc. There's always something to work on and improve upon - that's one of the reasons I love poker. You should add stats like bet vs missed cbet into your HUD to help you if you check OOP. It's hard to say what makes the most money since a lot of people still fold way too much to c-bets IP. I've been trying to get my IP fold to cbet lower to try to punish players who cbet too much OOP.

I'm not sure if I'm playing optimal I might do some piosolver work tomorrow maybe I'll analyze that min bet flop hand and show you the results tomorrow. I can show you the obvious spots like in an MTT raising on the button into a reg who is on 15bbs and has a high 3-bet resteal %, when the flop comes AA2 I can just mincbet 100% of my range I think as an extreme example because he just has no Ax, no sets of 2s probably not most strong Kx just nothing he can call with and if he does call I'll barrel all turns a bit bigger.

Random note: I see some good regs have a early game limping strategy from all positions I wanna look into that a bit and maybe start to use it.

I'm looking at overall net chips won and ev adjusted net chips won. Is this stuff kinda BS or a decent indicator of how someone is running deep? It looks like the player alias of sickos I made are running like god:

I'm running pretty ****ty 10mill below EV this year:
