Count me in sir. I cashed in a freeroll, which was effectively my personal challenge (or the start of it at least), and will recreate my goals once in the group

Once the group is formed, you should get everyone in the group`s starting BRs, and individual goals, etc. That way I could make an excel sheet (or something similar) showing both individual and group progress. Would be neat to see how much we`ve made as a collective come the end of August!

I might possibly be interested once more details get hammered out. Trying to get a legit roll going and just generally get better. Not sure if this is the right place for me or not.

i would be up for this, have only 50 on ftp now but also exams first
have been up to like 2k several times on stars but lost it all playing too high and tilting, going to do the brm thing now

goal would be to have 1k-2k at the end of the summer for me
(not sure if i can play a lot tho)

(maybe we can do some group chat at skype or something, dunno what you guys think)

Skype was the suggested method. CliffLee is going to set up the details.

Christophersen: Ok, I can use your sub-thread to update the group blog.

Jimmus: Yes, I will get the information of everyone's BR on Sunday, which is the last day people can join. I can pass you the info and it would be great if you could make an excel sheet showing both individual and group progress.

timistere: Yes there will be either a skype or aim group. I don't mind which - let me know which might be best for this sort of thing.

If anyone knows of a good site to blog on please let me know. Would it be possible to create a blog where people, who have access (ie the members) can update the blog? The group is getting bigger then I orginally thought and I'm not sure I could grind and update everyone's progress adequately.

P.s. - We all in Vegas for WSOP 2011!!!, we could start make arrangements on that too!!!

Im in. I think I have 2 weeks of class left or something. I would be looking to play a minimum amount of games in addition to a minimum amount of profit. Im getting close to buying a $4k bonus on stars, so i would want to buy it and try to clear it during summer. Nice idea OP

Blogspot.com or something would make life easy. We could simply create an account and give everyone the user name and password. I've never seen a group blog set up, but we could do the user name and password and set up a format for folks to update with weekly progress which Jimmus would punch into his spreadsheet tracker and update to the blog for group visibility.

I can take care of the account creation and formatting set ups for folks to post to make it easiest on Jimmus. Hand histories etc could also be evaluated on a daily basis, but I would suggest that we don't have everyone do progress updates daily or it'll get real confusing real fast. Sunday / Monday should be progress update days for the previous week.

Just my two cents. Let me know if you'd like to me to get to work on it =).

Another option, I have a buddy with a forum that he runs that has very low activity. I'm sure I could get him to let us create a Category on that forum, and we could give each individual their own thread and be able to track it fairly easily. I think this may be a better option for ease of visibility. I'll shoot him something now and see what he says.

BAEVentures

Edit: Just shot him an email but I'm sure he won't mind. A category devoted to us, everyone gets a thread for their progress, a thread for their hand histories/questions, and a thread for us to track group progress. Really seems to be the best option to me. If he approves, I will PM you (CliffLee) with details if you want to send them out to everyone on where to go to get registered. It is a low traffic finance discussion forum. All I can really ask of members if we go this route, is please DO NOT SPAM. It's a small group of us over there and I'd hate to drag in obnoxious traffic (hence the PM not posting it publicly here).

Lastly, do we need to name our group challenge?

To expand on what BAEVentures was saying. Blogspot.com is your best bet. You simply need a gmail account to use it.

And like he said, the group could just be PMed the gmail account and password, then we could all post there.

And yes, I would be happy to make weekly updates for individuals and the collective using a spreadsheet. Naturally, if someone didn`t let me/us know what their weekly results were, it just wouldn't be added/subtracted to the total.

Cheers,
- Jim

P.S. Having a page that everyone can edit could actually end up being troublesome. It would only take one person who decided "eff this group" to mess up the whole blog. Could even delete.

The best solution is to either have CliffLee run the page, and the rest of us can send him our updates, or post them in this thread, etc. Or, a few people who would have hte responsibility of keeping the blog updated would be given the password, etc.

Just a thought.

That's why I thought about doing the forum deal on my buddy's forum. No response yet from him though. Only reason I wouldn't want to do it on 2p2 is how much extra non-sense we'd have to filter through in order to track group statistics well. Either way could work. I see the one downside of blogspot.com being that we can't all participate, offer thoughts, help, advice, congrats, etc. Then again, we could always continue on with the thread right here.

Good by me either way. Let us know what you think Cliff.

I'm pretty sure you can have a blog where multiple accounts have posting rights. As far as doing this, I have no idea. I just see so many blogs where at the bottom of each post it says a different author and a comment link.

EDIT Yeah you can definitely do it on blogspot. You can have different contributors.

I'd be in for joining the group as long as there is no bet on it. Sounds good if it's a group of people that can share their thoughts in there "beginner" grind.

Only 2 downsides:

1) Someone would have to explain Skype to me.
2) Won't be able to play 2011 series

I'm definitely in. I've been grinding NL25 but just got my confidence back after a pretty bad swing and am playing better than ever. I want to get myself up to NL50 by the end of the summer if possible and definitely want some motivation to get my grind on and a group to talk to/discuss stuff with would be phenomenal.

Alright, a quick update!

I've created a blog for the purposes of this thread (naturally, if someone else wants it to have a different title or anything, that is definitely possible. Also, if people don't want it started up for one reason or another, I can always take it down ).

The address is under my profile under biography. As it was just created and I don't have anyone else's gmail accounts, no one else can post yet. As soon as CliffLee has sorted out the details of who is in, and what people's goals are I will start customizing the page so more people can post, etc (probably within a week).

Let me know what you think, Cliff and others!

This sounds awesome, have goals already and a roll but nowhere close to meeting them yet so I think the group sounds pretty cool. Let me know what you guys need from me to join. Right now I'm at about 4k, looking to go up to NL100 when I hit 6k and maybe hit 10k by end of summer depending on when we're thinking the end of summer is. I can't play as much as a lot of people because of fulltime job but I squeeze in about 15 hours of play a week.

Please let me know details and I'm very interested in joining.

Thanks!

BAEVentures and n80: I think Blogspot.com will probably be thw way to go if you can have a blog where multiple accounts have posting rights. So there can be a few people with admin rights (or equivalent) and the rest would be given contributor permissions.

In terms of what to call the group, I'm open to suggestions. Would be good to have the a name of the group that isn't simply 'Group of People Grinding a Roll Over the Summer'.

ManhattanBoy: Not sure I'll be able to hit Vegas up in 2011 but it's always an option. Also it's something I want to do at some point.

Jimmus: Thanks for creating the blog. BAEVentures mentioned that it's possible to set certain people with admin rights and others with contributive rights. Are you able to do this once all the members of the group have been established? If you can create a couple of admin logins for those who wish to help with administration of the blog, that would be create. PM the login info.

jumpship and Dr._Hyde: The basic details are that people who have goals of grinding a roll over the summer, join the group for motivational purposes as well as help with their game. A blog will be kept where each member can blog their progress. There will also be sweat sessions and HH reviews etc to so that people will be able to help each other. A skype or AIM group will be created where members will be able to communicate whilst grinding.
