Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

So I'm sure some of have seen my thread about grinding sitngos on ignition and dealing with the brutal bubble situations. I was able to grind my roll from 150 from August of last year to 1200 playing from $3 to $7 levels . The reason I'm switching is because I can't deal with the bubble play in these sitngos even if your pushing correctly your still hoping not to get called and bubble. I've tried the $15 a few times and just can't win for some reason and I always bubble them which is extremely frustrating. I'm choosing to play zoom cash because I like that fact that I don't have to push marginal hands and I can play deepstack poker which will improve my game overall.

My current roll is 633 I'm starting at 5nl on ignition .

I've played 1500 hands so far , I was up $15 .

Today's results. 600 hands -4.21

Overall up $11.

Gl buddy i subbed, as someone who started at 5nl zone as well and is now playing midstakes reg speeds and z100 on ignition, my number one piece of advice is to be super aggressive with shot taking z25 cause it is insanely soft, also take your zoom shots on fri/sats.

Thanks for the advice I'm excited/nervous to be honest . Any advice on how many hands I should play per day , also what should be a good buyin amount to have per level 30-50 buyins? . And should I withdraw the extra money instead because I know I'm overrolled for 5nl($600+) .

Hmm, i mean probably just wait till you have like 650-700, then play 25nl and move back down if you hit 500. For nl 100 zoom id wait till you have like 30 buyins so that you can play tilt free and with 0 br pressure.

I know that 10nl doesn't run on zone so do you suggest playing 25nl short with 50bb or just jump straight into 25nl ?

Quick update for today played 700 hands made a bad call with KK the bb on a 4 straight board for $3. But managed to get out of the whole. I feel like my sb play is pretty bad players tend to defend pretty wide and call down alot . I feel like this is going to be a long journey but I like this way more then playing sitngos .

Hands played.700
Results -.66
Overall +16.03

Here's my graph also for the past few days.

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Thanks, I've tried americas cardroom before but I just didn't like the regular tables it gets boring waiting around until other players are done with there hands, plus Im not a huge fan of using huds and being able to track players and take advantage of there playing style I feel like it's kind of cheating in a way .

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Quick update did a some studying of a couple spots where i had some premium hands like Queens and saw that i was playing them to passively, i would almost always flat to a three bet or four bet and see a flop instead of just getting it in. One hand that i recall from two days ago i three bet a utg raise from the bb and he four bets and i flat and the flop came jack high and i folded thinking i now lose to everything but AK and 10s but turns out he had AKs.

So i played about 900 hands after my review session and got it in with KK vs AJ so im going to start playing my premiums more aggressively. Im wondering if its a plus ev move getting in Queens and Ak pre facing a 3bet. Should i just ship these hands pre , also the players are all anonymous so i have no reads on them.

Hands played 880

No idea on zoom tables, but as I heard a lot before from reqs there, you will see a huge percentag3 of all in's to be a hand like AX ( the x being a broadway...)
My personal exprience show me it's +ev to get it in...
Unless you have reads in someone being a super nit...even against a pretty tight 4bet range (AA,KK,QQ,AK) you would be behind 12 combos, chop with one, and have 10% +equity agaisnt 16 combos of ak(and you're ahead of them...)

I actually didn't know there was that many combos of AK, I should probably start studing poker statistics. I'm basically playing a ABC form of poker really.

Quick update didnt play yesterday was pretty tired. Today was a good day was a heater session just kept catching cards stacking two players with flush over flush situations.I decided to quit the session after 400 hands i didnt want to get into a cooler situation myself and loose my stack. I know thats probably not the best thing to do but im just going to take my profit and run.

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Nice to be on a heater
I stronglu recomend you to start reading about the game...
If it's just a hobby, it's ok to play like this.
But if you have any intention on improving your game, you really need to work on things like basic mindset of the game...

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Thanks I'll try to find some material to read up on. Once again I find myself being a nit with a premium pair facing a 3bet . I can't find the hand but I'll try to give a rough ideal of how it played out

Utg limps .5

Mp.Hero 3bets to .25 with KK

Co 4bets .60

I flat being a nit I guess. I'm OK with seeing a flop or I'm being a nit and hope he doesn't have Aces. Dry flop he cbets .75 I call turn Ace and we check it down to the river he shows QQ.

Also this is all the money I have life and bankroll wise($650) I refuse to go back to work and my living expenses are only $150 a month . But if I do fail I'll definitely go back to work so I think that's a factor plus Im scared of failing to be honest. I think with all that in the back of my mind I feel like that's probably why I'm being so cautious or I'm a nit. And I know I should aim for 1k hands per day but part of me just wants to take my profit and run. I'm hoping this mindset will pass at some point .

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

played about 800 hands today was up until i ran a set of threes into Kings and he hit a flush on the river. Thats probably the second real hand ive ran into for a decent pot 2-5$. How do other players go about playing do you guys set a certain amount of hours, hands , or do you leave once your doubled or tripled your stack? I think i was about 600 hands in when that happened. I feel like if you continue to play these hands a bound to happen at some point so when do you take your profit and walk away? Also i would love some feedback on this hand

Hero($5.00) Utg AQs raises to .15

Utg2($2.10) calls .15

Mp($5.00) calls .15

flop comes 6d Ac 8d i cbet .30 utg jams $1.80 mp flats $1.80

i tank and think one player can definitely have me out kicked with AK or im up against a set or a flush draw. i end up folding because mp flat looks so strong like he wants me to raise or jam to put my stack in so i end up folding and watching the hand utg2 had a flush draw and mp had a straight draw.If i could replay the hand i think maybe a flat would be a good play and jam turns if the diamond doesn't come.

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Hi there.
About when you want to quite,i have sone suggesrions.
1- set an stop loss for yourself. Say 3~5 Buy Ins.
2- The only reason you might want to consider ending is season is when you feel you've lost you're edge on the game and you're not playing your best.
Any other reasons that you might come up with will just hurt you in the long run.
It doesn't matter if your up 3 BIs or down 3BIs. The only reason that stop loss would be nice is that most of the people make bad decisions and go on tilt at some level when their down.

When you quite to "protect" your winnings , youre just delaying the next hand that you would play. Eventually you will be playing again and there is always a chance that you can lose the effective stack on any given hand!
If you are not comfirtable enough to play 300+ BB deep yet, that ok. You can change table. But I suggest work on it and try to improve your deep stack play. It's not a big amount of money yet and you can experience it much cheaper!
Cheers

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Thanks for the suggestion, yea i think i get a bit uncomfortable once i hit a 300bb stack. I just hit a 300bb stack and quit after just 200 hands. I think ill take your advise on leaving and coming back with a starting stack i think thatll probably be best for me.

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Just had a really bad session started off bad getting in a straight vs a flush and the bad run continued. Got in Aks twice vs Queens I raise and the player would shove QQ for a 100bb and both times they boat up and I hit a flush which is obviously not good (weird). So I end up loosing 5 buyins and tilting off two more. Shoving 88 for 100bb and AK for 100bb. I just got really frustrated.

Now that I think about it if I would have just folded those ak hands and didn't tilt shove ak and 88 I would probably be even or just down 1 or two buyins .

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Made pretty big mistake today. So overrall i was down 7 buyins at 5nl droped two more this morning and thought to myself if move up to 25nl and just double my stack ill get myself out of my downswing. It was going well got up to about $37 but got coolered with QQ i three bet from the bb from a bt open he call i bet flop and turn and he calls and he rivers a set to stack me. But overall i played around 300 hands or so and didnt see to much of a difference from 5nl. So im down 12buyins what ill do is probably play a few sitngos to make up for my 25nl mistake then go back to 5nl and continue to grind it out.

Overall. -$18.00

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Today and yesterday has been a rollercoster i think i was down 16 buyins at 5nl from yesterday and today.

But i managed to get it back down to 4 buyin by playing some sitngos and won 5 buyins in 5nl. It seems like i tilt more playing just one table. I think im more focused playing two at a time. Ill definitely never take a shot at 25nl until i have enough buyins because if i would have continued i would have been in pretty bad shape. So im going to continue to grind and try not to tilt if i go on a downswing like i did yesterday.
