The last challenge thread I posted titled "Online Poker 2,000 to 25,000" had way too many flaws in it from the start and I soon realized setting a monetary goal for a poker challenge isn't that great of an idea (at least for me personally). During my last challenge all I cared about was having a positive green line, which lead to me making countless mistakes pre and post flop in desperation to become posotive for each of my daily sessions.

However, I'm taking a whole new approach for this thread/challenge. There will be no monetary goals, no ev/bb goals, or amount of hands played in X amount of time goals. My only goal is to try and play to the best of my abilities in every single hand that I'm in.

My starting roll is $2,000 and I'm starting at 50nl which leaves me with 40 buy ins. I'll try to post graphs for each of my sessions and specific hand histories that I struggle with.

Additional Rules I Will Be Following

Stop Loss for each session will be 2 Buy Ins until I reach 80 buy ins ($4,000)

Max amount of tables I will play at once will be 6 until I reach 100 buy ins ($5,000)

You might want to give yourself more leniency in your "stop losses". 2 BIs can be lost in a matter of 50 hands lol

It could be 2 hands too I just feel that my play begins to detoriate once I'm down 2 buy ins so I'm setting that as my stop loss for that reason alone until I reach 80 buy ins where a loss of 2 buy ins wont effect me at all mentally while playing.

Haha I see, good luck! Have more confidence in yourself!

Have you heard of tabletamer? Or any program that converts stacks into BBs? Those really improved my play just due to getting rid of mental blocks in terms of bluffing river in big pots etc.

Session 1
Profit For Today: +$518.78
Bankroll:$2,559.68

Well, I ran very well today. However, its amazing how bringing down the amount of tables I play at once improved my game drastically. I can actually think out the hands and not just go on auto pilot mode while in a hand which was making me make countless mistakes. I made a couple really donky mistakes that cost me about 180bb ($90) but other then that I played at my A game for the entire session.

I have one hand I think I played pretty bad as well that I would like some advice on.

CO(Hero): Opens to 2.5bb with 66
BU:Folds
SB:Folds
BB:Calls
Pot=4.9bb
Flop comes 6s3h4s
BB:Checks
Hero:Bets 2.6bb
BB:Raises to 13bb
Hero: Calls
Pot=32bb
Turn is the Jc so 6s3h4sJc
BB: Bets 20bb
Hero: Calls 20bb
Pot= 72bb
River is the 5h so 6s3h4sJc5h
BB Jams all in for 64bb into 72bb

Spoiler:
Hero calls with 66 for mid set villian shows 2s3s for a rivered straight.

I think I messed up this hand so bad by not just shoving on the turn knowing how wet the board. I can get value from all the lower sets and probably two pairs and I give flush draws a really bad price to call. I just wanted to see what you guys thought about this hand. Reason I call river is because I think this villian will be jamming here with 33,44 as well as missed spade draws.

Dang always nice to be up 25 percent of your entire BR in one session lol

Think your analysis on the hand is pretty spot on, I really would have liked a shove on the turn. We really cant be calling rivers though, especially with a pot this big and a run out as such.

2 buy in stop loss LOL.

Good luck bro but if you can't play well after 2 buy ins then you have serious mental leaks you should start working on pronto.

Session 2
Profit: -$252.08
Bankroll: $2,317

Lesson for this session: Follow your rules!

Ran 2 buy ins (-$100) under ev in first 100 hands because some guy spazed out and called my all in with ace high and a gut shot against my two pair. This single hand put me in a bad mood and I wasn't able to concentrate I feel like. I then instantly proceeded to tilt off 4 buy ins ($200). Shoulda just quit when I was negative two buy ins like I was suppouse to because I know that messes with me mentally. Not quit but just take a 30 minute break thats what I consider a stop loss. Defintely will be following that rule for now on and I'm quite upset that I didn't as it cost me an extra 3 buy ins.
