Hello,

I am going to prove that the power of faith and the magic of positive thinking are greater than the supposed powers of mathematics and reasoning.
I'm going to do this by starting at lowest stakes available (2NL) with an initial bankroll of $3. Traditional notions of "bankroll management"' will have you believe this is a sure route to ruin, but I will show that if you believe in yourself, you truly can beat the odds.

I have already played 800 hands since starting this journey and have managed to double up to $6! Now with 3BIs to my name I can 2-table with ease and progress will come much faster.

Graph of my results so far:

I will continue to trust my intuition over reason and go with my gut feeling when in doubt. By following this strategy, I am confident that I will ascend to the highest stakes. I'd like to finish this post by quoting a warning St. Augustine of Hippo gave many centuries ago. If you think "Game Theory" and statistical analysis are the right ways to approach this game, perhaps you should think again.

Isn't trusting your own intuition in a way prophesying? I don't agree with the quote bc in order to create the universe, God has to be the greatest mathematician of all-time.

Update:

1000 hands milestone passed. Bankroll has grown to $10. The march on the high stakes continues.

The secret to high-level poker seems to be: When faced with a tough spot, forget all you "know" - clear your mind and let the play make itself.

OP should take his insights to quantum physics. Teach those quarks who's boss.

Last session results:

Observe the pattern made by the blue and red lines and recall Revelation 12:3 - "And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon".

And so doth the great red dragon riseth from the blue sea to unleash its wrath upon all ye doubters and naysayers.

Done for the day. Lost two buy-ins at 2NL. Moved up to 5NL and played a couple of orbits. Won 70 cents.

My bankroll has dwindled to $5.87. The last 1000 hands have felt like a trial from the Lord. I feel that I'm on the brink of the abyss, but I will persevere.

You are making simple mathematics of variance into a spiritual battle over armageddon and your very soul.

Again, I recommend some medication, and the strong kind. Not Zoloft.

2000 hands is nearly the equivalent of 100 hours of live play. Surely if there's a 'variance' effect here as you claim, it is quite small.

Don't Listen to people talking about variance.
Variance is a lie just like Evolution theory!
The Lord is testing you!
Stay strong Brother!

No tournaments. I feel that I should play cash tables only.

Currently taking some time off the tables to meditate and recoup.

Wish I had your faith, taking some things from a book, whichever version of it you have, and stand against proven facts and mathematics.

Just wake.

Very interesting thread though

I feel that the negativity of some of the posters in this thread has affected my results. To counter that, when I go to bed tonight I will mentally chant "Poker success" - "Poker riches" in an alternating pattern until I fall asleep.
