So to make a Looooong story short. Was a 200NL+ Pro. Got hit hard by BF. Had just purchased a house like 3mo before BF. When BF hit I took what i culd risk of what i had on hand and deposited on Merge and went like 2400bb under AI EV the first month. Fantastic timing. At that point the RoR was to high and i had to get a RL job. I pretty much didnt play poker for a year after that.

Finally last summer i deposited small. Ive been grinding it up, pulling it and rinsing and repeating, waiting to see what happened as far as Federal legislation this year. So I am done waiting and am going to move forward under the assumption that nothing good with happen online for many years. If it does all the better but i can wait no longer.

So the plan is to move to Live play, but this is going to take some doing. I will need to move as i do not live close enough to any casinos to play live for a living. So as soon as i have a 10k roll, i am then going to sell my house and everything else i own and move to a good live location and get back to grinding pro. I only have like $900 online right now and I am going to throw another $500 on a separate site and start grinding away. So i need $1400 to $10K, shuld be doable and i dont care if it takes me 6mo or 2yrs, I shall not be stopped.

Its my Bday today so i am kicking this thing off.

Ok sober now but still doing this. But the actual number i need is higher, since i have lil CC debt from BF and going to need to put some money into the house....so $16K.

Gonna start out playin FR 20nl-50nl table selectin hard, occasionally i could throw in my 6max if i find a juicy table or two. Short term goal will be lookin to move up to include 100nl obv. Will do MTTs on Merge to especially since alot of value with buyin in with pts. RoR calc shows less than 15bi for a 1% RoR.

I work FT which entails 14 - 12 hour days per month so its pretty tough to get any hands in on the days i work, but on off days exercise and Poker will be it for me. As far as set up just have my trusty ole laptop from before BF, im sure ill need a new one before this is over.

I'm planning to make a second comeback myself. This time I'll give it a try starting the grind full time... Last time I did it while working so I know the effort you will need, respect.

Merge and Lock, Not really grovin on the BBJ at BCP, doesnt look real profitable over there right now for a FR player.

I think if any of the biggest 4 US facing go down it will be lock first for sure, i see them finally starting to send some WUs thru tho and i know carbon moved away from WU because of starting to have issues with them so i dont think its all Locks fault but, I am certainly going to manage my risk during this challenge and have a heavy eye on lock.

Thanks for the Avatar change! Much Love!

Havin a tough time gettin goin so far this year with work and the Bday festivities - now havin deposit troubles and waiting for support. Grrr. Gettin some hands in tonight tho.

One funny thing did happen last night tho, The gf talked me into goin down and havin a drink for my bday last night, Saw a bunch of guys we knew and got invited to a home game. Gave one of the guy named Ben a ride with us over too it. We got sat down, there was 8 or 9 us. About 3rd hand in the gf raises from UTG+1 and Ben 3b from the CO, she calls. She donks into him and hammers the turn and AI on the river on a Q94JQ board. He calls all streets and flips KJo. She stands up throws her cards down face up on the table (QQ) and Yells I GOT QUADS BITCHES! Priceless. Ben then proceeds to leave quietly and walk home....

Poor bastard lol

They finally got there heads out of their asses and approved my Deposit on merge today. Hasnt started out the greatest with a nice little downswing to start the year and Lock and deposit troubles on Merge, but finally set up today and look forward to getting it headed in the right direction.

We of coarse anytime you start a challenge you gotta start out with a nice downswing, and Volume is a little light with the deposit troubles and such. A rocky start for sure. Ill finish the month strong and all will be good.

So there were not alot of great things to report in Jan. ran terribad, managed to end pretty much break even/slightly down which after the month i had even seems like a victory. Over 30k hands in Jan which wasnt too bad for volume since i didnt really get to play the first week due to deposit issues.
So this was the first non winning month since my return to serious play, I pretty familiar with prolonged down or break even stretches just due to the volume i have put in pre BF.

So i understand these things happen and im looking forward to getting back on the winning track this month and workin toward the goal. First day of play this month was today and started the month with a winner.....which is a nice change from last month.

Have my head back above water at least but barely, been up and down so far this month, so the break even stretch continues.
Looks like my schedule at work is going to get changed this month which will be a good think for teh pokerz as i will be able to get alot more weekend play in.
Looking forward to adding live play next month 4 times a month or so, should be a great BR booster.

So more Break even/slightly down for the month of Feb. Volume was down too. Change in my work schedule cause some major sleeping issues that i am still working thru.

But Started my Journey into live poker yesterday. Put in a 9 hour session. And came away a massive $49 winner at 200nl. Was a local charitable game, i chose there because the rake structure was the best in the area.
Games where very weak passive, couple drunk and not so drunk folks spewing off $200 to $300 in minutes, open shoving with A7o. I also shoved on a drunk guy with Ah6h from the button, he calls with 45o and rivers a straight.

But ran hot in the first few hours and built stack up to like $480

People leave tables and jump in quite often as there are tourneys and SnGs running as well, but table got real reg infested and I saw a couple other guys drinking hard liquor at the other 200nl so I requested a table change which i apparently should not have done and I did have a pretty good Laggy table image at this table After i shoved with the A6.

couple of the hands here that contributed to my modest instead of good win.

UTG with $150 opens for $8
UTG+1 with $111 calls
Folds to Hero who Covers OTB with A6 calls

Flop ($27)
A65

UTG bets $20
UTG+1 raises to $50
Hero Snap Shoves
UTG folds
UTG+1 calls and Shows AK

Turn T

River K

Nice Hand Sir.

And

6limps
Hero is in SB with KT and completes

Flop
KK5
Hero Checks
Checks around to BTN who bets $5
Hero Calls
BB folds
UTG with $115 raises to $15
Folds to Hero who shoves

UTG then starts his speach.....Oh man my kicker sucks and i know you have a king. I straight up tell him i have him out kicked as i think he is gonna see me as weak when strong type of guy.
He says well i know you have me outkicked but u never know what cards are gonna come as he calls and turns over K3

Turn 7

River 5

Chop.

Nice hand sir.

Rolling in Sklansky bucks i tell you.

Brings my LOL live sample size down to an LOL $105.50/hr.

Ill be lookin to play live 2x a week.....should be able to make goal by the end of the year no prob with just live play although will obv still be playin online, but it will give me a good read on what live grind is like.

Finally running better this month so far online, although sample sizes online are going to be smaller now due to playing more live. Looking forward to playing live at least Thursday and Friday Next week.

Went Casino on Thursday and put in a <6hr session with a $283 win.200nl Rake was brutal with $8cap plus $1 drop and 50cent/hr comp. Probably doesnt matter with the level of play tho. No monster pots or anything dont think ihad a bigger then $200 total pot.

I have have like 4 casino rooms plus 1 charitable game that runs on fridays all less than 90mins away....ive played at all but 1 so gotta hit that one up in the next couple of weeks.

Running way below EV, just got done with 2 live 9hr sessions in a row. AI in Pre 77<A3, KK>AJ, as well as stuff like this:

UTG with $66 calls
UTG +1 with $40 calls
Hero OTB covers with AQ makes it $15

Both call
Flop $48
AK7

UTG Shoves $51
UTG +1 calls
Hero calls

UTG shows 32

Which led to my first losing live session of the year down a whole $10 on Thursday. So if i ever start to run good should have some real nice days.

They GF played for the first time live last night, she struggled early and ended down for the session, there were several real loud gangsta types at the table drinking and shouting and what not, i think she felt intimated and was real nervous early, and took a cooler, but she made a nice lil come back at the end making a couple nice bluff catches.

She wanted to play a SnG together before we left and she had moved over to the SnG table and bought me in and was going to wave me over when it started.

I was still playing the full ring and had been to the immediate left of this young very laggy player. He seemed very laggy Pre, Being in most pots, raising alot, straddling every round and liking to raise his straddle in limped pots etc but appeared to be fairly solid post, he was one of the guys the GF had caught bluffing earlier. I also played with him at my table a couple of weeks ago. He has be showing me quite a bit of respect all night either folding pre to my raises or folding to my Cbets.

I notice the SnG getting ready to start and our table was breaking, down to 6players.

MP Asian girl limps
Mr. Straddle ($225) raises to $7

Hereo OTB makes it $28 with 93o
I know, no blockers blah blah, but i fully expected to take it down pre as he has been very weak with that pre sizing.
MP folds
Mr. Straddle calls.
Flop ($61)
QJ6
Checks to Hero who bets $40
Mr. Straddle then proceeds to throw $60 in my middle. when the dealer thows $20 back at him, he says he thought i had bet $20.

Turn ($141) 4
Check, Check

River T
Mr. Straddle Checks, Hero throws out a please call me bet of $55
Mr. Straddle Folds, The GF as if on Q, yells Its starting. Hero shows the bluff and gathers his chips to head to SnG.

First time i had played a SnG here, the players were very slow and bad making it pretty much a super hyper with a bunch of limpers.
I made it to HU and when he asked me if i wanted to chop, although probably -ev i agreed as i musta ate something bad and WW2 was going on in my intestines.

Not real excited about playing one of those again, although the dealer said that one was particularly slow.

Might get one more session in today before back to work tomorrow.

Got a small session in on Saturday afternoon, games were pretty juicy. I made the only two mistakes that i can find that i have made since i have started live play yesterday in this short session. After reviewing the hands in my mind, I made one bet sizing mistake and one missed value bet both in hands that i won that would have turned my .5bI win into a 1.5BI win in the short 3hr session. I berated myself the whole way home for making such stupid errors. I could justify them, but no excuses, I failed to adjust in these circumstances and the sting pushes me to be better. I will be taking more time to think before acting in some situations in the future.

Even though i have ran way under EV in the 2 weeks since i have started live play im pretty happy with the results so far. Live BR has moved from $400 to $925 after expenses which i make every effort to keep as low as possible and usually just consist of fuel and a sandwich every so often, but usually i bring my own food. I knew ROR was pretty high starting with a BR that low, but im pretty confident that not withstanding some sort of outlier, no reload will be necessary. Very much looking forward to getting back to the grind at the end of this week.

9 hr session tonight plus a SnG.....$190 for the good guys from the cash game, and chopped another SnG for $105 actually was fine with the chop this time....guy had probably at least triple the chips I did when we went HU.....and he was willing to chop without ever playing a hand. Probably was meh but session was long enough as it was. Not much sleep last night...so wasnt feeling the greatest today......as long as im feeling better tomorrow i'll prob grind some moar.

Have not updated in a bit

I have pretty much run like crap this whole challenge. Even running way under EV i managed to win all my first 7 sessions except for one break even. Now have lost the last 4 out of 5, lost two giant pots jamming the turn and villian calling with the FD and binking the river. Had the Roll up the $1275 before the doom switch. Then last week after the villain binked his river card with K5 in a 3b pot i only had $20 remaining of my original $400.

So i borrowed $8 and went an sat at a $25+$3 SnG.
I won
Played another
2nd Place
Played another
Chopped 1st
Played 2 more
Bubbled

These things are literally Party poker 2003

The next day which was last Sat...My GF had been bothering me all week to play in this Saturday tourney which i didnt want to play in, but about 30min before it started i decided i needed to take the risk less i have to reload my BR.

Ended up Chopping 1st place HU for $700 plus $50 profit in bounties.

Back to Cash this week......patiently waiting for the run good.
