Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

Was playing live for 3 days as there was this tournament thingy running at Finland's only casino. Gotta give some sort of respect to the guys who play live full time, I was so ****ing toasted after 3 days that I don't even want to think about live anymore. Was thinking of playing 1-2 tournaments, but skipped em because lol tournaments, nothing good can come of them.

Really annoying that basically every finnish rec and most pros play PLO, tried to get 10-10 to run for 3 days without success, so just played 5-5, which played 200bb eff most of the time and often +300, but even then the achievable hourly probably doesn't compare to grinding NL200, let alone NL400 online. Really need to learn that great game of four cards before next livetrip. Won like ~500€ at live when I played like ~15h over 3 days, and then won like 2k online when I played like 3-4h on my laptop... And the NL 5-5 games were pretty bad, ton of regs and very little whales and pretty sure most of the regs play online at some level, so it's not like they are US style liveregs who have no clue, also pretty sure one reg who played 5-5 a bit, is basically the only finn playing highstakes NL.

But live is just so so so -lifeEV. It's so slow, your sleeping schedule gets all ****ed up, so hard to eat properly, you need to deal with drunk ****s who are so annoying.

Didn't really even have that many interesting hands. Lost one 200bb pot in 4bp pot bluffcatching against a reg in spot which is super std. But one hand was hilarious where I valuejammed against recs river lead on 742-A-5 or something like that being 40-50bb deep with AJ totally missreading the board, but somehow I managed to get called down by worse. Was pretty funny when like after 10sec after I jammed I realized, oh wait ****, its 4-straight board. D But on hindsight, I probably would've played it the same even if I didn't misread the board.

Yeah it sucks that live poker in finland isn't as good as parts of canada or the U.S. where there are obv more whales.

Lol i wish i could multi-table midstakes online , that's pretty much why i grinded out LLSNL this year because of instead of winning 5bb/100 hands at best (which is pretty hard IMO) and possibly reaching SSNL i would just make x20-x30 that in terms of money/way better hourly.

Live poker is good entertainment for me as in i love watching ppl do stupid sht and laughing at it it's awsome haha, but yeah literally if you play live full-time you have a horrible lifestyle all you do is sit there for hours getting way fewer hands and it's just very unhealthy while online you can leave and go to the gym or go outside and do w/e whenever.

What also sucks about live is that you have to sit there and watch fish win 300-400bb pots and just see horrible play get rewarded while your still waiting to double up off ur starting stack... it can be a while and your just stuck there watching people spew off and waiting for a "spot".

There are merits to both, but i think i also prefer live because i like taking it slow (and i feel like i play my A-Game way more) as opposed to online where you pretty much have to be ready to make +EV decisions every few seconds as you are bombarded with hands esp if you multi like 3-4 tables or more. I like thinking things through a lot and the more time i generally have the better decisions i will make

Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

So I guess I finally got to admit this.... I'm a professional timbey player now...

Just joking.... OR AM I?!?!?!? : D Didn't even win that much afterall, considering I was so overwhelmed of this tournament thing and regged pretty much every 200+ timbey and had like 5k in buyins.

Guess showing screennames doesn't really matter as other one is restricted site and my party sn afterall is not that hard to guess..

So lately poker has been going pretty well, had 3 back to back +10k months, which is pretty cool, considering I've been playing like 3 months full time now I think, and from almost going #gazzybusto during may and needing to drop back down to NL100 for a bit, now I'm back at shotting (punting) at 1k games, which is cool. Still not properly rolled (but this time I actually have some sort of BRM) so mostly just bumhunting across all sites, except when I'm being a retard and swinging my dick around to get seats.

Done a lot work on my game past 3 months, and I really think I've gotten a lot better of that period, especially when I lately also spent quite a lot of time in analyzing on how population plays, instead of the usual solvergrind.

Also decided to take a year off of uni to print some monies at NL.

At the moment staying a week in Wien at deeepzss and blakks place, although blakk went to hunt pokemons to Rome, and deepz is just bumhunting me in thrice FFS..

Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

Lately been kinda thinking of getting again some coaching from some good coach, as I'm aware I'm pretty bad at some stuff and want to improve in that. But the thing is I have no idea where to find the good coaches that play 1k+, or do those even exist lol. If anyone has some suggestions/know some good coaches, please pm me.

And because someone will ask why I don't get lessons from the previous coach, is because I personally kinda don't think I am anymore getting that good value from him for the stuff I need to improve on. I in no way think he is bad coach, 100% opposite (there's quite a few guys playing NL400-1k and few even higher that he has basically taught from zero).

Cool, will ask him about it, thanks.

Also another thing that I've been thinking about is moving out of finland after summer. Mostly to play pokers and also finland is so fkn depressing and **** during autumn and why not, only gonna be playing poker for a year or two, so if I'm gonna be looking at my screens 24/7, might aswell do it outside of finland. Been thinking about malta or wien or dunno.

Haha just finished the Chuck Bass book and he spent long passages describing his hatred of Finland, it does sound very dark and cold.

Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

Yeaah.. didn't play at all for a few days due to being at parents for a few days, and was really looking forward to getting back to tables. And the tables were just amazing today. But things kinda went to **** and hit my stoploss, which is annoying due to how good games were.

Month going kinda **** due to getting slaughtered at 1k, need to stop shotting it for a bit. Overall with untracked sites and mtts, I'm around 9-10k in the hole, which is kinda gross, but on the other hand really nothing to worry about, when most of my volume has been 1k (50-70%) during this month. Oh well, gonna play MTTs tomorrow and then probably only study for few days and not play 1k at all next week, but just grind it out at 400-600. Then gonna go to barca (not for ept), for a week vacation, which I'm kinda looking forward to, just to get out of the poker bubble for a bit and just enjoy life.

Odds are that it's gonna be a first losing month in a while, but **** happens especially when shotting. Just gotta keep my cool and get my roll back to being able to shot 1k, feel like I can beat the games, which may be true or may be not, but im 95.7% certain that if I keep playing there and just keep putting the hours at the tables and off the tables, I will be able to beat it during next months.

Was kinda getting burnt out during this week and taking few days off just really did a wonder for me, today I was enjoying playing like at least 3x more, than I did during early week. Too bad things went to ****.

Just need to try looking past the short term results, results from month to month are meaningless and just gotta need to understand that.

Stake breakdown for the month.

NL400

NL600

NL1k

PS: There's 36.7% chance that I'll bink something big tomorrow and keep playing 1k. LETS GOGOGOGOGOGO!!! Cant ****ing wait, MTTs so fun. I'm fairly confident people don't have a clue lol.

Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

Sooo August didn't go too well. Not sure actually how much I lost as I think I ****ed up my bookkepping by having the balance of one site misentered. Think I lost like 7-8k, which is not that bad when I punted like 10k to mtts and downswang at 1k for 15bi in span of week. Was first losing month for a while, even though I think I'm actually up on cash.

After last update I stopped shotting 1k, stopped watching results, played only NL400 and few 500z sessions, and in a span of week I think I won like 10-12k which was cool. Really ****ing enjoy the not looking at results thing, makes me focus more on playing and enjoying the playing. Gonna keep it up, until I start shotting 1k again, as there I need to make sure I don't go busto. If thing at 400-600 keep going well, will be shotting again in 1-2 weeks.

Also took 8 day vacation at barca with bunch of friends which was refreshing not to think about poker at all and just enjoying the cheap beer, good food and weather that melts any finn. Although I played one short 1k live session there and won few buyins (so am actually up money for the vacation WOOTWOOT! ), but that's not really poker or atleast you don't need to think a lot. Most brainpower was used to try to keep track of how the stacks and size of pot etc and obviously I was constantly lost. WTB $$ to BB signs for livepoker!!!

Got back yesterday, ****ed up sleeping schedule by falling a sleep too early and then started grinding. Playing zoom for few days to get my groove back on track. Really like the fact, whenever I'm kinda unsure about some spot, I can just sitout and check it out quickly to see how far off my visualization of the spot is.

So missed first week of the month, but lets hope we have a winning month and get back to the 1k games asap!!! Also seems like WCOOP is on and before my plan was to punt my roll there, but might not do that. Maybe I'll play few mtt sessions and skip the bigger events or sell some action, obv with no markup as I'm MTT fish, but... everyone else seem to also be one.

Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

Nice progress doc

Glad to see some updates man you've always inspired and taught me so much really pulling for you.

Also ik you don't play much live haha, but i wanted to get your opinion on how you play the BB and SB in like full-ring games.

Ik online it's like play 3-bet or fold from SB, 3-bet polarized from BB, etc... but in live play is it okay to flat something like QTs or 79s from the blinds if some guy opens 4x (being the normal raise size) and you get a couple callers in LP. It just seems like the norm in live poker to play this weird blind strategy...

Like in this vid i watched w/fedor holz, tobias reinkemeier, and other online guys they play super wide from the blinds in a live cash game setting:

Good luck this month!
Do you literally stop playing zoom, quit stars, and sim a hand? If so insane discipline, most hands I am unsure on just tilt me and have to keep playing after to win money back

Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

Already wrote small paragraph and realized this might actually be against tos.

#encryptedhint

But no, don't sim all spots, might just do quick lookup how ranges interact with the board and do some streetmathing for later streets and compare it to my visualization of ranges. Will sim some of the spots though, esp if its more about turn+river visualization or sizing things.

Played+studied like 10h straight today after sleeping like 4 hours #stimulantsgto. Had to check results as for the first 1/3 of the day as I literally had the worst run ever and was curious how much it is possible to lose. Dropped straight like 8bi in 600-1000 hands, having W$SD at 25% and WWSF like 30%. It was so bad that it was kinda funny. Eventually won some of it back and ended up like 3bi down, and was playing only 200z so the $$ amounts is pretty meaningless compared to what I have been playing last couple of months.

Really enjoyed playing today after the short break, couldn't care less about the results I had today as I just loved to play again. Taking small breaks from time to time is probably really GTO, maybe not this long, but like few days etc. And also felt like I actually already kinda got the groove back with the way I structured the play+study, which I found super efficient for the situation. Zoom is also so lovely and people at 200z don't seem too good so might find myself playing it a bit more often when too lazy to start bumhunting all sites. And for me 200z is probably even higher hourly than 500z, when 500z pool isn't superb (basically never), if I even actually can beat it.

Might hop back to 400-600 games tomorrow, or then I'll just powerplay+study 200z for few more days. Also might end up going drinking due to uni starting again and friends coming back to the city. Sucks to skip grinding due to hangover, but might be maxlifeEV, need to run some sims tomorrow for it.

Also revisiting the getting coaching idea, but not sure what I'll end up doing. Really would prefer to partner up with some crusher for longer term deal like a year or so, as getting sessions is kind of thing where even if coach doesn't purposely sandbag strat, he might not be as fully invested as he would if he had a piece of me. Actually got offered one by a good hs reg, but at least for now, our views of what a reasonable cut looks for my case didn't really match. Which is pretty understandable as my lifetime results at tracked NL200+ are pretty bad, due to having horrible start of the year and also I haven't even played NL200+, let alone NL400+ for any significant sample to show that I can actually beat it. Probably most players overestimate their skill, ability to improve and ability to rise the stakes. But just did basic math and felt like the value I would gain is not enough to justify the cut for a long term deal, when I'm fairly confident I will improve a ton in next 6-12 months even without coaching. Like I'm fairly sure I can figure out the stuff, including the exploit things on my own, but coaching would just make the process faster. Obviously there is a real possiblity that I'm totally wrong and should take the deal, but dunno, we'll see.

Re: Clicking buttons towards midstakes!

Mid month-update

Sooo like I said in last post, took first 8 or so days off the month, but been grinding decent amount after that. Volume could be better, but whatever, want more focus on quality than quantity. And playing when I don't feel like playing wont probably be smart. On top of the hands below, also played decent on some untracked sites, probably 3-5k hands.

Been only playing midstake this month, and it is so relaxing compared to constantly shotting and needing to check results if I need to drop down etc. At the start of the month, my plan was not to play any 1k, only 400-600 and some 200 when games don't run and been happy with my decision and have stuck to it. Also kinda had vague plan not to check results all month, but I'm only human, and have checked like 2 times. Once few days after I played 24h session, where I felt like I was getting annihilated. Turns up I lost like 10bi that day, but still feel like I mostly played good. And also checked today as starting to feel like shotting 1k again on some of the softer sites. Decided against it, but might do it next week or something. Might not as midstakes is so much more relaxing, and only start shotting with a bit bigger BR so I don't need to worry too much about results.

First time I checked results, I was down like 5k for the month, between 8 and 10k hands, as was also down on untracked sites. Wasn't too worried as was feeling good about my game due to doing ton of work on just basic spots etc. Then today and up 9-10k for the month, which feels nice after getting crushed last month (JINXXXX).

Also decided not to play any mtts this month, but kinda feeling like playing one next sunday, including WCOOP-main, if I'm able to sell some %.

Nice work man, and very nice month.

If you still are trying to work on your game, I'd recommend the world class strategy videos from the bosses at BPC. EG here, very informative;
