Played a bit yesterday on swcpoker on a $6 stake. I placed second in a horse tourney but my AA was cracked on the second hand of the 4max nlh tourney. Button limp re raised 44 all in preflop and spiked a 4 for the scoop. Then I went bust on the nlh cash table.

I also played in a 5 chip mtt and was at the top of the leaderboard for a bit. However I was eliminated well before the money.

Then my luck turned around and I won a 20 chip freeroll that paid 6 chips. I went to bed after the win Cus I couldn't keep my eyes open.

This morning I played some limit holdem and big O8. Currently sitting on 18 chips and am sitting and waiting for action.

Had a good day at the tables yesterday. Currently sitting on 1.77 bitcoins.

The highlight of my day was steamrolling the 10 chip horse tourney. I ran super hot and basically couldn't lose.

I woke up early and there was a .25/.50 no limit holdem game going so I sat and posted in the hj. I doubled up with AK vs 99 all in preflop. Dude was talkin **** in the chat box and I was still sleepy so I quit after just four hands.

Horrendous typo above. I only had 0.177 coins when the day started. I'm sorry to report that it's all gone except for a little bit. Shrug. Was fun though. Had some stiff competition today. GG seals. I'll be back.

I got a stake in the 2+1 bounty no limit holdem tourney on Tuesday. I won and paid the staker 9.5 chips. That left me with about 6 chips to play with. I finished the day with 64 chips and went to bed. Then yesterday I played lots of different games. At my high point I had 209 chips. Then I had a bad run at a heads up no limit holdem table. I was playing good until the final hand that left me broke. I called some big bets with second pair vs my opponents straight and that left me crippled. I had thought that I had more left in my reserves. However when I checked the lobby I was down to just 1.5 chips.

Then I went out to my friend's house. When I got home I played a little bit of no limit holdem cash. I knew it was time to quit when I open raised 86o on the button without thinking about it.

Now I'm playing 2c/4c no limit holdem and have 5.75 chips. Will report back.

Haha.

Haven't been playing much lately as real life has taken over. However I did turn $0.50 into $26 playing heads up 35 big blind death matches vs a friend a few weeks ago.

(.50*2)= 1

(1*2)= 2

(2*2) = 4

(4*2) = 8

(8*2)= 16

6 + (10*2) = 26

So I won six games in a row. Then he quit.

Hello internet friends. I haven't been playing much poker lately but I'm gonna update this anyways.

I had a great December despite being surrounded by real life drama. Poker has taken a backseat to some important stuff. I had a great Christmas and a nice quiet New Years with a lady friend.

I managed to fit in a few 25 big blind heads up death matches with a friend the other day. I won both games which paid a very modest prize. Was fun though.

I haven't been on swcpoker in weeks. Hello seals hope you all had a nice holiday season. Bitcoins are through the roof at the moment. Nice.

On Christmas Day, as my mother was putting the finishing touches on dinner, my brother asked, "wanna play some blackjack?" I replied, "you know I do!"

The two of us and my uncle each bought in for five bucks and we played 50c minimum $2 max. I won a couple bucks and then dinner was ready.

I wish I had an exciting event on which to end this post but I don't.

Cheers.

Long time no see. Hope everyone's doing well. I managed to accumulate a few chips recently. At the high point the other night I was up over $300 worth of bitcoin but I blew it. Now I'm waiting on rakeback tonight and am hoping my position on the krill leaderboard holds.

Might as well fit in a February update:

Had an awesome birthday week. Played some online poker. Shoveled some snow. The usual winter in New England ****. Haven't been skiing yet this year which sucks.

Haven't played any non poker games in a while. No rummy no spades no ******* no kings in the corner no cribbage. Just poker.

I got a new basketball but haven't tried it yet. It's been nice out here and a friend invited me to play yesterday morning but I'm more of a noon gametime kinda guy.

Sorry no hands to talk about. There have been great hands, bad hands, bad beats, and the usual suspects are acting accordingly. Good games all around. It's a fun little site where I play.

My friend wanted me to tell you guys that he beat me yesterday. In his words, "You have a blog about poker. Yet you come over here all the time and lose." Then this happened:

$5 no limit holdem with two wild Jokers in play. 1cent/2cent blinds with 80cent starting stacks.

He won a few small pots and had a 5:4 chiplead.

I get AQo on the button, I shove 70 cents, he calls.

I say, "You wanna show now or later?" He replies, "Now is good." He shows 65o and I show. Then I deal:

T95r

7o

2o

He scoops.

I'm running pretty hot in tourneys on swcpoker, but the cashgames have been conversely unkind. I'm currently waiting on rakeback, which comes tonight. I'm also in 10th place on the Krill Leaderboard rake race. 10 spots pay.

Maybe I just suck at cashgames and should stick to tourneys.

-----

I went out on some limbs in the strategy forums and have got some great feedback. I think I learned a lot in the past month.

I'm still looking for the next step in my learning process. Perhaps a line from one of my favorite movies, The Princess Bride, should guide me:

"So we go back to the beginning."

The fundamentals. The basics. I must go back to the beginning because I'm stuck.

Perhaps some equity calculator time is in order or maybe some river combo counts. That should get me thinking.

I'm open to suggestions.

Good morning,

I haven't updated this thing in a while. There isn't much news though. Despite a bad run of cards, my tourney roi% is still positive over the past three months, which is the only silver lining of the cloud that is raining on me at the moment.

Cashgames? Lol.

Cribbage? At least I haven't been skunked in a while.

Did some gardening the other day for my aunt and then she beat me at cribbage.

I've been playing a lot of chess lately and it's been going well. My record on chess with friends is 89-58-12 over the past 6 months. I play a very open style, which results in only a few draws. I play to win.

Spring is here in New England, but I haven't done anything cool like hiking or basketball yet. Yet!!

I played a tourney last night. It had a big guarantee on it. Cost about $6 to enter and each player's ev was roughly $10, so playing in it should have a positive expectation unless you're absolutely trying to lose. Seven spots out of 36 paid. I finished in 11th. A verified maniac raised 3x from middle position, I shoved my last 14 big blinds in with AJo, everyone else folded, maniac called. He shows 88 and I know I need help. I missed and was eliminated, but it was fun. The maniac went on to win the tourney.

Real life has taken over. I haven't played any cards because I've been relocated as emergency house and teenager sitter. This kinda blows but we're dealing.

I've started learning some new stuff on the piano, but haven't played any guitar in a long time due to broken strings. This has also taken a backseat as there are no instruments to play here. Before the relocation, I had just started to learn "Right Now" on the piano. About 5 minutes into learning it, the dreaded phone call came. Now that song will always remind me of this time in my life.

I also have added the introduction to "Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull to my routine. I can't play it anywhere as well as the creator of the song, but it's fun to play. I've also taken to messing around in C# minor. The only white keys involved are E, A, and B in the C# minor scale, which makes for some interesting hand movements and sounds.

I really need to get my guitars fixed though cus the piano doesn't stick it to the man like the guitar. I wanna make very loud horrible noise at the moment. I wanna crank up the gain until it makes my ears bleed.

Ok here's some poker content:

I won a tourney a little over a week ago. Was an "overkrill" tourney. 10 swc chips to enter with a big guarantee that was almost sure to have a big overlay, as the overkrill tourneys do. The game was 12 game mixed. I forget the rotation but it looked something like this: limit holdem, no limit holdem, stud hi, stud 8, omaha 8, plo, limit 2-7 triple draw, no limit 2-7 single draw, badugi, badacey, badeucy, and razz. Was a tough game with some good players. Here are some big hands that helped me win it:

limit holdem

I raise JTs in the cutoff, button 3 bets, rest fold and I call.

9Q2r

I check call.

K brings a heart draw.

I check raise, he 3 bets, I 4 bet, he calls.

4o or something.

I bet, he calls. I show and he shows AK of hearts.

----

razz

I won a really weird hand with two pair in a checkdown battle.

----

limit omaha 8 heads up.

I raise button, he calls.

AA3 with a flushdraw.

he bets, I call.

To

he bets, I call.

9o

he bets, I call with Ax and scoop vs his King high flushdraw.

----

plo heads up, which plays quite big given the size of the blinds.

I raise the button 3x, he calls.

743 with a spade draw.

he bets 3/4 pot, I call with a queen high flushdraw and a straight draw.

Ko

he bets 1/2 pot, I call.

Ko

he checks, I bet pot with lol 1/8 pot behind, he folds. I scoop and become chip leader.

I'm sure there were many other important hands, but those stand out in my mind. Then I ended up winning the whole thing with very high blinds after about an hour of heads up play in the no limit 2-7 single draw round. I covered him and shoved about 8 big blinds effective with Q9732 or something like that. He drew two cards and I patted. He got a King and I scooped.

Ho hum might as well update this thing.

Last night I played a four handed $1 game with some friends. It got down to two players and then this happened:

Guy bets and raises at every opportunity until he's all in on the river. Total beginner calls him down saying "take my money. take it all!" He reluctantly shows 97o high. She flips T2o high. Lmao fun awesome ending.

----

I deposited a few times on swcpoker in the past few weeks but couldn't get anything going. That is until two nights ago when I deposited 80 bucks. Multiply that by 10^1 and that's what I'm sitting on at the moment.

Finished in second place in two medium sized tourneys yesterday and won a small multi table tourney. First it was a 3 chip 25 chip guarantee tourney that I absolutely steamrolled. I couldn't be stopped that game. Then came the 5 chip afternoon special. I finished second for 34.5 chips. Then the big game of the evening was the 10 chip 210 chip guarantee limit badeucy that was almost sure to go off with a big overlay. Got down to heads up with a decent lead on second place. Probably had a 5:3 chiplead but couldn't draw anything good and my bluffcatchers weren't catching any bluffs. He took the chiplead from me within about 10 minutes and never gave it back. Was hoping for a big win but I can deal with second place which paid about 50 chips.
