Challenge 1, Day 1:

I've been losing a lot recently so to get my head back on track/ not having any more to lose :P I'll do this bankroll challenge starting off from $3 i won in a freeroll today, got plenty of free time- work is on and off. I feel I'm getting slightly better at poker these days so hopefully I can win $1k in 16 days

I aim to make this thread an ongoing thread with many challenges to keep me motivated and working towards little goals as I think i lack direction at times.

bankroll management is questionable but as long as i move down I should have a chance after a good first day.

5NL-$0-$40
10NL-$40-$100 move down when at $25
25PLO-$100-$300 move down when at $40
50PLO-$300-$1000 move down when at $100

Starting Bankroll: $0

Game No 1: top whatever out of 1000s in freeroll. bankroll $3
Game No 2: won $16.86 at 5NL. bankroll $19.86
Game No 3: won $5.92 at 5NL. bankroll $25.78
Game No 4: won $5.39 at 5NL. bankroll $31.17
Game No 5: won $2.55 at 5NL. bankroll $33.72

couple of recent hand histories wouldn't mind a bit of advice with the second one I post, made a hash of the hand think I play the first hand fine.

biggest hand of the day:
PLO25

UTG calls $0.25
MP makes it $0.50
Co calls
Bu calls
I am in the SB with QKKsAs (playing $19.17) and raise to $4
BB folds, UTG folds.
MP and CO have me covered and call, Bu has $15.76 and calls

flop QQd4d (pot $9.95)

i bet $6
MP folds, CO and BU call.

turn Jh (pot $27.95)

I shove $10.87 and get 2 calls
CO has
TJddTKhh
BU has
257dAd
-just put the hand in PPT and i find out I'm 69.44%
CO is 13.89%
BU is 16.67%

which is interesting as until now I thought i was closer to flipping vs their draws

River Tc (pot $55.70), BU has full house 10s and Qs. I lose

Hand 2

playing 5 handed, I am in the SB with 356cQc
UTG folds
CO raises to $0.70 (playing $17.37)
BU calls (playing $19.56)
I call in the SB ($30.65)
BB calls (covers everyone)

Flop 5c6s4c (pot $2.80)

I lead for $2.10
BB folds, CO folds, BU calls

Turn Qs (pot $7)
I bet $5.25
BU goes all in for $17.46
I call

River Ks
BU wins with a straight to the 8
holding 7c89Ac

wouldn't mind some advice on that hand it felt a bit spewwy at the time.

Game no 36: won $25.07 at PLO25. bankroll $71.82

Very much the same as yesterday as in it was an up and down and up day again.

Not too bothered about the $178.13 loss as twice i had my opponent all in as the favourite and if I hold I've got a balance of over $250. Then i got stacked and have to rebuild a little from NL5 and for the second day in a row I've been running well as usually it would take me a couple of days to rebuild but I've been aggressive and run well to get a bit back.

In regards to not sticking to the BRM guidelines, I'm not going to pay much attention to them just as long as i leave $20/$25 odd to play 5NL as it's very soft and passive.

Hopefully this thread is somewhat interesting to some of you- guess not much to talk about but the bankroll bouncing around might amuse you. The thread is helping me a bit I think anyway so I'll continue to post, cheers for reading

yeah...... saw a bad player at PLO200 and decided to take a $93 odd shot at PLO200 and ended up having a bit of a PLO200 party. Like to think if I'd have lost the $93 I'd have made sure i didn't bust my account so i could keep on with the thread but can't guarentee that. Luckily, did okay and was at $1400 odd at one point during the games before realising I was the fish 3 handed- other than these two players a couple of other bad players ended up playing so I'm pretty happy with myself for playing vs the fish and quitting when i was maybe the fish.

......ok I wrote that before the debarcle at NL50 happened. Erm yeah don't really know what to say or think about that. It was deep on aggresivly structured tables vs someone shoving pre with any two then getting deep and erm yeah he said he'd been drinking since 3pm the previous day and this was about 8am and I deffinatly believe him. Anyway he ended up with a humungus stack and I didn't.

on the one hand it's a massive loss but on the other hand it was amazing to be playing a game like that in this day and age with online poker. Losing from a peak of $1400 is a bit gutting but I usually end up playing vs a better player than me which is stupid to lose all my money but here I lose in a good situation so I can't be too annoyed with myself.

Glad i kept hold of $25 to keep the thread going from $0 and hopefully I can get to $1000 by the end of the challenge.

And breath.

Good day for my challenge. Got very very lucky at one point when I brought in for $60 at PLO200 and if I'd have busted that hand I'd have been back down to $17 in account and back playing NL5 for a bit.

The thread is deffinatly helping as the other day when I had a over $1400 in my account but it was on the tables so I didn't complete the challenge, usually I would have just thrown away the last $20 odd I had left and then would end up not playing for a week or whatever.

Approaching $1k now but I have big swings as you can see so hopefully I get some run good.

Played PLO200 when tired and tilted, big mistake considering I could have pretty much played NL5 for the rest of the challenge and got to $1000. Deserved to lose there.

Then 5NL ran bad to bust ..... will carry the thread on in a few days when I get a $70 reward for my play so I think I can still count that as starting from $0

Challenge Over

An anti- climax of an end. Well i enjoyed doing the challenge and apart from Day 8 game No 85 which was a pretty big mistake and probably why I failed, I'll adjust my challenge next time to make it just PLO50 and below.

Had a few times during the challenge when it looked like I'd complete it, day 5 when I was at $943, day 8 when I was at $977 and day 14 when i was at over $800 at one point and didn't leave the table. So yeah I'll make a few changes and move on to challenge 2 in a few days. I'm going to include the $15.88 reward I am getting so I can claim I'm still going from $0 and hopefully this will save me spewing off depositing.

na, there is no tracking software on this site so I like recording my results here, I always know my account balance after playing a game so I think it's pretty much 100% accurate, when using software every once in a while it can miss games anyway.

Actual hand histories look ridiculous when copied and pasted into a message and it takes me about 5 mins to type them out myself so I would prefer it if they had different hand histories and I could just put them through the converter and post them on here.

Also don't really want to do that because I don't want to show what site I am playing on as it doesn't have very many players at all so if a few people reading 2p2 come to play on it, I do think it could make the games harder, sounds silly when playing 5NL but I would like to play in the bigger games consistently at some point.

I suppose I could do a screenshot of money in an out of account at some point but not sure you really have to prove results to anyone on here? guess the live players don't have to? don't think many people are skeptical/care too much anyway

I understand it would be better if you had concrete results, hopefully it is slightly more realistic winning $15.88 in 16 days than winning a million in a day.

In, gl champ!

Word of advice, try to focus a little less on your results. In the early days it's just noise. As long as you're going over your biggest losing hands and challenging your own assumptions, trying to put people on a logical range you will win in the long runChallenge 1: From <img to 00 in 16 Days. NL + PLO

Also goes without saying don't play games you're not rolled for unless you're primarily playing to gambollll.

good point not to focus on the money eg I could have been playing good poker but not be happy as I wasn't hitting the $ which you can't really do anything about.

yeah I love playing poker it facinates me, but at times I am playing for the gamble and these times never end up well. I'll make a couple of changes to challenge 3 with these points in mind

Challenge 3: from $69 to whatever$ in however many days

I deposited $69 today and am doing ok now so yeah with this challenge I am going to just try and stick at the same stakes, improve my poker and be happy if i can make an extra $100 a month as I enjoy playing and I could do with a little extra cash. I'll only update once a week or so.

Started with $69 at PLO25 and for this first week my target is going to be just simply to play as well as I can at PLO25 for the week see how it's going in a weeks time. I'll withdraw 1/4 of profit next monday and then maybe do the same thing next week. If it starts going bad I'll move down to NL5 or whatever for a couple of days.
