Welcome to my poker blog. Where I am going to be posting my story and journey as a young poker enthusiast to the internet.

I am a 21-year-old male currently studying Finance and Entrepreneurship at University. I have been playing poker since I was a freshman in college. I started off messing around on replay poker with free money, I became entertained and intrigued by the game. I enjoyed playing but noticed I seemed to be losing more than winning. As a naturally curious person who loves googling, I started to read about poker. Fast-forward 3 years to now and I believe I have become a decent player. I have taken learning about poker seriously; reading a few books and reviewing hands.
I have been playing on bovada now known as Ignition. I have done decently well at 5NL, scattered success in tournaments, (my biggest win being a tournament ticket entry and coming in 4th place for $475). I have made a couple deposits to role myself for 5NL and to mess around in tourneys. I have had spans of months where I run up my bankroll, but ultimately would bust out by way of playing tournaments or cash games of too high stakes. I consider myself a winning player at 5NL, which is where I have put in most of my volume. However, it wasn’t my goal to build a bankroll. I have taken pride in educating myself and playing the best poker I can. Poker has always been a hobby that I enjoy. I enjoyed playing a few $20 or higher tournaments, obviously with hopes of winning, but purely for entertainment.

Being in college I have always been ermmm ~ financially challenged? My free time at school is mostly consumed by partying, which comes with a price tag. I also play club hockey, which is a fancy term for a beer drinking team that plays 2 games a weekend. I still have solid grades, but I don’t work a job while taking classes (Thanks Mom and Dad!) So point is, all my previous summer job money is reserved for recreational activities.

I have played a few live low stakes live tournaments over the years and have always really enjoyed the atmosphere. I would have loved to play live cash but have never had the funds to play. This summer I landed an internship at a real estate firm. The company was started by my dad’s friend (Thanks again Dad!) They mainly do commercial real estate ~ the current projects include apartment buildings in Detroit and California. I have been learning a lot and its been going great. Along with the experience and knowledge, I have been earning a fair amount. I have decided to set aside $600 for strictly poker.

My plan is to play seriously, study, and see if I can’t make some money. I’ll be playing 25NL Zone poker and live cash. I will buy in for $75 for live $1/2 games. This will give me 8 buy-ins. I know this is small, but I feel it gives me a solid opportunity to build a roll. I won’t be crushed if I loose this and will be able to reload if I so choose. To stay consistent with buying in short I will buy in for $12.50 in zone poker. This will give me 48 buy-ins. The next level would be .5/$1 and I would only have 12 buy-ins buying in for $50. Not enough for me to feel comfortable playing zone, which is very swingy.

This Saturday night I’m going to the casino to play my first live cash session.

I have always enjoyed reading the threads in this section that read in a story telling way. That is what I will aim to do as well. I’m going to blog about poker and my daily life. Feel free to troll me! Hope you enjoy!:
