Bankroll building challenge. Bankroll building challenge.

Hey guys, I've decided that posting a challenge for myself here might somehow drive me to play better and improve my game more.

Basically I'm currently a losing player, but, like everyone, I wish to become a winning player. After annihilating the best part of $1400

The first 1000 games I didn't know poker. I didn't know about it, and I had a job, and I didn't really care about it, I just assumed it was luck. I just fancied a gamble.

I unfortunately got made redundant in January 2k11, but luckily I had dropped to part time as I've returned to education (23 year old student studying business management) so don't have the monies to spew off gambling as much as I'd like to heh.

After the first 1000 games my play improved somewhat when I started to take attention to the game and learn more, the idea of bankroll management was also a great help. However I'm still a losing player.

I am going to deposit $100 at some point this week onto stars, and going to exclusively play $2.50 90 man non-turbo S&Gs.

Up until now I've pretty much exclusively played turbo games and I've finally realised that they are too high variance, almost feeling like a lottery.

My plan hopefully is to grind these out until I get to $400, then move up to the $7 90 man knockout non-turbo's.

I can have a severe tilt problem when I take bad beats, but I've finally found a way to counteract it. As weird as it sounds, if I'm drinking a cup of tea, I don't tilt AT ALL. So when I'm playing I'm just going to make a load of brews 8)

Not really got a daily target of how many games to play or daily profit, as being too goal orientated is probably bad.

Anyway yeah that's about it. Without sounding too pessimistic I fully expect to bust within a week so you can all subscribe and laugh if you so wish.

Once I start the challenge I'll post up some hands as I think I really need some pointers on my play. I could do with coaching but seriously can't afford it. So any evaluation and help on how I played hands will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading

All the best with it, i'm a big fan of earl grey tea whilst grinding, with a nip of scotch after brutal beats

Man I gotta try the tea thing. I'm usually hopped up on strong coffee while playing though.

One thing that I find helps with the tilt is having a big br for the stakes you play at, and putting in tons of volume.

I play cash though. Couldn't imagine grinding those 90 man sng's. I wish you the best OP, and I am subscribing to your thread.

Only played a couple so far. Busted out of all of them one of them I was just completely card dead.

Busted out of one with this hand. Thoughts on how I played it? The check raise all in seemed a good idea to me. tbh imo a horrible call from him, dunno what he thought he was beating but meh.

Don't think it matters wether you c/r or lead flop, villian is calling and your going to find it hard to get away on turn even with the 4 to str on board, just a standard sick beat, get used to them, if your grinding micro stakes online, there going to happen all day long. Just hope you run somewhere near Ev and you'll be fine, if you don't, it's going to be a tough task even beating micro SnG's without massive volume.

I thought that, no matter how I played it he'd still be calling. I assume he'd have just called the flop which would have given me a chance to get away. I seem to get these beats constantly due to lack of respect/just general idiocy. Just gonna try play through it. Works out I'm going to have to bust 40 of them in a row to fail this challenge which surely should be pretty hard. *should* got some lectures today so not attempting some more until tonight

busting 40 in a row is easy. why not play the lowest stakes available and CRUSH them with your 1000 buyin roll?
