"Do you want to be a rich man?
Come on lets go and play
I never see you anymore
Come out the door
It's like you've gone away...
We used to be best buddies
And now we're not
I wish you would tell me why!
Do you want to be a rich man?
It doesn't have to be a rich man..."

"Go away"
"Okay, bye..."

Some background info about me:
  • 21 years old
  • live in The Netherlands
  • Doing my bachelor for IT at uni atm
  • Will start working as dealer at casino on 18th of february
  • Bad reg status

I've done some PG&C's in the past and they never really got where I wanted them to be. I have always been losing at 25NLz a year or two ago and slightly winning on 10NLz. I took a year break and got myself a normal job. However I quit the job because it was boring AF and now got myself a new one at the casino which seems more fun, and pays better (20 euro/hour).

In the meantime I have been playing recreational at sites like Partypoker and beat the 25NL speed tables there (but also spewing huge amounts of money on higher (PLO) stakes). They are much softer than PS' site but the software tilts me too much. I don't give a **** about other sites because PS has the best software, and that's what's most important to me.

So recently somewhere in mid january 2k17 I decided to give poker one more last serious shot. Lifetime I'm actually just +$200 up with huge up and downswings from playing recreationally at all stakes up to spewing at small and lower-mid stakes . The graph doesn't look pretty to say the least...

Goals for 2k17:
  • Get rid of that bad reg status and beat atleast 50NLz before 2k17 ends which should be a realistic goal. My aim would be playing 100NLz atleast before the year ends but that will also depend on my mental game. I'm not delusional and know I probally won't get rich with poker. However it would be nice to do it semi profesionally and leave my croupier job at the casino if the situation lets me.
  • Study a lot (20/80 ratio). Review losing AND winning hands.

Results so far for 8th Feb, 2k17 since mid-january:
It's a mix of 10NLz, mostly 16NLz and mostly 25NLz the last 6k hands. I have moved up to 25NLz again on stars and I am planning to shot 50NLz with 25+5 BRM or whenever I feel like it.

I have had also my first coaching session with cardrunners coach MDoranD. He has helped me A LOT plugging some immediate leaks and teaching me solid fundamentals. He's also a great person to talk with. So thank you for that.

Another person I want to thank is my long-time poker friend "Niebro". He has always been helpful to me whenever I needed his help (not always, but almost always ), so thank you too.

I would also like to thank my new study group. Finally found one for 25NLz-50NLz and they are all cool guys .

Blogging plan:
  • I will try to update results on a regular basis.
  • I will sometimes post interesting(?) hands.

GL all!

Played a sess today. I played differently, tried more often to iso fish and sqz more often.

I played fine overal, however I did actually make one horrendous play which costed me a stack:

In hindsight I snap this hand. He doesn't have any 4x and it's probally bluff heavy as he would mostly bet his FD's OTF. I had this guy tagged as regfish but I actually forgot he was from my study group . If I had a tag that he was from my study group I would have snapfolded as I thought it was a nitreg. Folding can't be too bad, but it's still a bad fold imo.

Overbet jamming river here... My thought process was that with a normal sizing or slightly overbet nothing will fold that beats me. I could jam Tx like this? Oh well... Fun hand nevertheless

              Session results 2 tabling:

JJ hand is weird to me, I don't understand why are you turning such strong hand OTR into a bluff, or do you have some crazy read and it's a valubet?

Don't like the 63s, unless the guy is cbetting a ton F and T. You mostly rep a few value hands OTT and you will get calls from all better FD's, so even heart river doesn't look so good. And BB has JJ-QQ too.

76s looks spewy. Not even sure about the flop cbet. I would probably cbet if I have BDFD.

Vilain is playing 17/13 over 19 hands. Not sure if I should shove or not. Like Qc blocks some of his AcQc, QcKc though. But it also hits his QQ.

sometimes pictures say more than words

Going to read Joey's book now and chill

                        BTN is a reg, 27/19/8, 3.2 AF, 108 hands, 91% c-bet
There are a couple of things I don't like with this hand. I think it would be better to just jam it, or donk turn donk river and balance it with some Kx. Both are better than raise (not jamming) imo. Thoughts?
Maybe even overbet turn and check river.

So I'm halfway reading Joey Ingram's book and this is what really got my attention, here come's a quote out of his book "Chasing the Poker Dream" (section written by Cole South). I really like the idea of turning failures into assets. So from now on I will post every pot where I lost 100bb's or more. No more excuses. This will keep me accountable because I will know that I have to post the failures in my blog.

If you are interested in more stuff like these. Go support Joey and buy his book.

                          Quote:
The most valuable thing I did for my poker career was start a blog where I posted every big pot I lost. It didn’t matter if I got aces versus kings and suffered a bad beat, or if someone stacked me in a spot where I tilted off all my chips - if I lost 100 big blinds in a hand, I posted it on my blog. This process was:
 Cathartic. Every serious poker player knows the feeling of hanging onto a tough hand mentally. Sometimes it feels like a specific hand is haunting you and following you around through the day, or even in your sleep. Journaling these especially difficult hands was a way to release myself from them and allow my brain to move on.

 Analytically helpful. By writing down the big pots I lost, I forced myself to analyze them. It’s sometimes hard to tackle painful situations head-on. By committing these hands publicly, I forced myself to confront sometimes painfully bad or embarrassing play. There’s no doubt this helped improve my poker game.

 Instilling accountability. During my poker session I knew that if I made a tilty play or unjustifiable stack-off, I was going to have to write about it later on my blog. This kept me accountable and helped me build self-discipline at the tables.

 Professionally valuable. Other poker players noticed my blog, and it helped me build my personal brand in the poker world. This led to my role at Cardrunners, and eventually a sponsorship deal with Full Tilt Poker.

 Scalable. Scribbling down negative scenarios has been helpful for learning new skills outside of poker, as well as for keeping a sane head in my personal life. There’s something about putting down thoughts on paper (or the Internet) that feels like it gives you permission to move on from them.
TL;DR BE READY FOR MORE SPEW TO COME!

                          big spew in couple spots.

KK is ship otr... You lose to 3 combos of QQ basically. So IDK how you don't ship here but bluff in every other spot. Should pry just check to you a bunch and close eyes and call 3 streets

I am going to stick to my blog game plan: Post all pots where I lost more than 100bb's net. No lies, no shame in posting. No nothing. Everyone makes mistakes (although I do make more than the average 25NLz reg I think ). Criticism is welcomed. Feel free to even call me a ****** spewmonkey^2 to wake me up from my delusional Durrrrr dream.

This is just spew I think. Lots of straights after he calls. Combo draws. Flushdraws. Which we all don't fold out. I instantly regret after shoving haha. Even the initial raise was bad. But whatever, got nothing to hide boys.

Felt like didn't play my A game... still have to work on my spew. I think it's become less though. Not really overly overbet anymore. Had 4 biggest losing pots today over 200bb.

Vs reg. 27/20/6 33% fold to 3-bet over 83 hands. I think I credibly rep value here so I don't really mind jamming A4 on the turn. Atleast we block quads :').

Just a thought I wanted to post. Are the Beat-the-rake games beatable with 10% rake and 5 min structure? Just shipped another $5's with 34k chips for $30,50. (5k chips direct value = $5). They are pretty fun though. Could be nice to grind those last vpps for supernova, although supernova ain't worth **** nowadays. Thoughts on those games? It seems high variance aswell since it's basicly a push or fold game.

Sharkscope graph is 95% beat the clocks mixed with some sunday storms and spin's.
