Went out last night with some friends but didn't get too out of line. Didn't want to be totally useless today, but that ended up being the case as I only slept a few hours and could barely function. Ended up watching some GoT, just started the series and it's going to be a long oneeee.

Decided to flick an update in with mtd graph so far. Not thrilled with it, but could be worse so it's alright.

Ahhh! I saw played several games vs you 1 or 2 weeks ago Why havent you switched to spins yet? Have HUSNG's gotten softer or way tougher since everyone shifted to Spin&go's?

I remember playing you a couple games, you were sitting me haha.

Haven't switched to spins yet, not sure, not a huge fan of them even though they're probably super soft. Once, I did a 1-2k game sample and lost money but should have made and just said f this. If I ever decided to accept the variance and learn the 3 handed play more, I'll get serious about them.

Yeah I was just splashing around for fun, wasn't really sitting people based on whether they were good. I'm actually gonna play them for real now, and game select a bit xD.

Adding them to your spins grind?

One thing is kinda putting me off HUSNG's. I would only be playing them occasionally so its not worth buying a registration program for them. It can be hard to get a table without one though

I used to feel that way but the registration program is only a few BIs. Well worth it.

Had a few hands that I was not so sure about so posted them in HUSNG section for some feedback. I'll post the links to the hands here as well.

It has been a super interesting week. Just kidding, it has been pretty shiettt.
Sunday I had soccer practice and was fine and when I woke up Monday, I felt like dog shiet. Now it is Thursday and I am finally recovering. I rarely get sick which is quite fortunate, but when I do, it sucks big time.

This week had me feeling like

As a result, I didn't do any physical activity, didn't eat that much and didn't sleep very well. My week basically consisted of drinking fluids, grinding poker, and watching Game of Thrones. Some people might think that's the life - but I was dying to get out.

Surprisingly, I put in a solid grind this week considering I felt like a half wit for the majority of the duration.

Spent a lot of time watching GoT, and I pretty much went through the first two seasons and I was a bit lost at first, but eventually was like...

...still decently lost, but less lost

Will continue the grind and hoping to get some physical activity in soon!

Been in a funk this last few weeks. Essentially was sick for an entire week where I binge watched GoT and am now on Season 4. I did play a decent amount of poker during that week also. This past week I got super drunk on Monday and that just sent my week into a whirlwind of non productive behaviour. Barely played poker, didn't do anything productive whatsoever. Feels bad. Got to 1500 games on the month today which is poor for Summer. Will probably stay away from poker this weekend and then get back into the grind hard for the last week of July.

Another month down. I wish I could say it was an unreal month and I am so happy with how it went, but in reality it was pretty lethargic. I was sick for roughly a week this month and it was very unpleasant, but I rarely get sick so it's all good. Additionally, I picked up some knocks playing soccer and had to sit out a bunch. I don't think I lifted once this month and my diet was trash. Pretty **** month in terms of real life goals, I must say. Although, I am excited to get back into my routine come August.

With that said, let's get right into the poker results - since that seems to be the only positive that I can take away from July.

✫ 12$ Hypers ✫

Originally added these into my grind to help build my bankroll, but then I wanted to have a 1k sample in my PT4. Although, the more I think about it, I might as well just flick them in whenever I want for some added volume.

✫ 15$ Hypers ✫

In all honesty, these should be the lowest stakes that I play. At the beginning of the month, I was doubtful with how things were going, but kept grinding. Decided that I wanted to hit 1k games for the month and hit quite the heater to round out the month!

✫ 24$ Hypers ✫

I consider these my main stakes, but the volume is tough to achieve at times due to lack of action. For now I will continue to grind them out and push the volume the best that I can.

✫ 36$ Hypers ✫

Decided to move up in stakes and get more action at higher stakes alongside the 24s and what can I say besides...fuego! I know I can beat these stakes regardless of the run good though.

✫ All Hypers ✫

Fortunately, someone posted and informed me on how to combine my aliases in order to have all the hypers that I played during the month in one graph. Definitely enjoy seeing it all in one graph.

[x] 2000 Hypers
[x] 3.5-5% evROI

Monthly Results

Hyper Profit: 3003$
Rakeback: 155$

Total Profit: 3158$
------------------------
Challenge: 14525$

There are a couple things I would like to address quickly. I did fire some MTTs/Spins/Cash games this month and ultimately broke even/profited a bit so I just nullified it since I did not track it all. MTTs are very tilting but so addicitng. Spins are incredibly soft and may be a future option for me. Cash games I found fun and am considering adding them to my grind for this challenge, we will see!

Overall, it was a great month in terms of results - actually, I think my best to date. Finally feels like I ran well, never really experienced anything like this and I kept waiting for the doomswitch. Hopefully it doesn't come . I do think that my volume was lacking considering that it is Summer, but I did push hard during many sessions and am proud of that.

Moving forward I hope to take advantage of the last month of Summer! Not only do I want to grind hard, I want to get back to lifting/nutrition and also have some new experiences and go out a lot with friends. Very excited for August!

Thanks,

Elliott

Well it was the first day of August and I considered not even playing poker today, but what else was I going to do haha. Had the intention of playing whatever volume I felt like then just taking it easy for the rest of the day. I played one sesh where I was down 200 and was fine with it because that is part of the game. From there on I proceeded to head to the gym where I was informed that my gym will be renovating for half the month. Therefore, I may just not lift this month but eat well and add extra cardio. Can't really see myself joining another gym, but there are definitely other options I need to consider. Besides, it is only for one month and I may like another gym even better.

I came back home and got back on the grind and things went from better to worse and I was not tilted in the slightest. I honestly felt like a doomswitch was coming so it was fine. Honestly, most tilting part of the day was finding out that my gym is renovating lol. I think days like this are good to strengthen mental game. What is even more absurd about what I am saying is that this is not even a horrible day, it is an average day of swings. Anyways, I grinded back hard and my confidence did not waver - but for a moment I took a break and recognized that in a moment like this it very well could.

Days like this feel way better than winning off the bat. That restucko feeling is euphoria.

Been pretty busy with life these days as I told myself that I would make the most of August. Thursday had some drinks with some friends just took things easy and playing some darts and video games. Ended up going to sleep at roughly 4am before waking up at 10am to start the day with some drinking since I went to a huge music festival called Ile Soniq. It was probably the hottest day of the Summer too. It was packed with people, hotties everywhere. Some acts from the festival included Zedd, Zed's Dead, Oliver Helden and my fave The Chainsmokers. It was super good feels to see them play their newest song with Halsey near the end of their set. Snapped a picture of it to share and will link the song too as it's a pure tune!

Going out tonight and have a BBQ/Party tomorrow, so on the poker front probably back on it Monday!

Just came off of a 4 day bender and feeling somewhat unmotivated to grind. My volume is probably around half of where it should be for the month. Although, I did tell myself I would go hard and make the most of August. It honestly feels as though the month just started and then today I woke up for the first time in my own bed in almost a week with a proper amount of sleep and was like holy shiett it's the 9th today!? With university starting back up at the end of the month, I feel as though I am in a time crunch now. Just going to have to find the motivation!

You Are Alone With Your Vision

You would think that after coming off my best month in poker that I would be thrilled and proud of myself. That has not really been the case for me. I truly thought that by showing a family member my thread that it would be explanatory and helpful. Quite frankly, I have been disappointed with the outcome. It hurts to lack support from those closest to you, but at the same time, their outlook is sadly similar to the rest of society.

The two main issues with what I am doing are as follow:
1. leaving "unexplained" gaps on my resume
2. not adding any value to society

My philosophy to both are quite simple. I am currently a full time university student and I understand that a great number of students work while studying and they have an edge on me in that regard. It is tough to find a valid response to this, I may as well chalk it up as opportunity cost. Although, in terms of adding value to society, I feel that I can be more efficient with my time and effort now, and be more of an asset to society later on.

I honestly just cannot wrap my head around working a normal job while going to university when I can play poker and earn more money on my own schedule.

If you could do something that you genuinely enjoyed and were passionate about while receiving the same compensation as you would from your current employment, would you do it? The resounding answer would most certainly be yes. Frankly, it is not uncommon for people to take a pay cut to do another job that they enjoy more. What is odd is that I find myself on the other side of the spectrum. By playing poker, I am actually making more money than I would at a job that I would not enjoy as much. The reality of my situation is that I am not yet qualified to embark on a career that would provide true purpose. Although, I am in university and have prioritized it for that reason.

Honestly, most people are adamant that I am just gambling all day. From my perspective, everything in life might as well be a gamble.

"There are only two certainties in life - death and taxes" - Benjamin Franklin

So what the hell am do I really think I am doing? Maybe I just rationalize and justify it to myself when I truly believe that I am taking calculated risks. The facts are that I have not had a losing month in over a year. At this point, it cannot be all luck.

I mean what I find honestly hypocritical is that someone I had a lengthy discussion with claimed that gambling is forbidden in his religion. I remember saying you have a stock portfolio do you not? What the **** is the difference? There are no guarantees. In my opinion, the stock market is as much of a gamble as poker. Maybe the discrepancy lies with the stock market having societal respect. Any average person can get lucky and win in the market or at the poker table. In my opinion, the calculated risk is justified by consistently winning over a large sample.

I am not foolish enough to believe that I will be printing money playing poker forever. For that reason I am definitely not going out and blowing all of my money on hookers and blow. I am essentially utilizing poker to reach the next chapter in my life. It is merely a stepping stone that I enjoy in the present.

This may seem like a far fetched example, but I have a vision and a goal to essentially make 100k in order to invest in real estate and create a comfortable foundation for myself. What is honestly abysmal is that the majority of people will see a true visionary and call them crazy, yet when they succeed they will accredit a lot of their success to good fortune. Sadly, I do feel a parallel sentiment as I am being ostracized for working smarter and debatably harder than the norm. Although, the illusion is that I am sitting in my boxers clicking buttons like a monkey. It is extremely frustrating.

In a sense this feels similar to a rant, but the purpose of this thread is to look back and understand my thought process in the moment during this challenge. The sad reality is that at the end of the day, money talks, and once I achieve this ambitious goal, it will be frustrating to watch as opinions and perspectives change.

At this point, I must find my motivation from my own vision and truly believe in what I am trying to achieve.

Learn to not care about society. In fact learn to (usually) do the opposite of what the masses do. It's a cliche, but it's actually working. People in general are dumb. Your main concern should be to not let poker limit the options you have in life. Everything else you shouldn't give a single **** about.

You give to much credit to other peoples opinions man. In most peoples mind when they say contribute to society they are alluding to paying a portion of your wages to corrupt or incompetent politicians. Most people are happy to believe they should live like the rest of society and struggle to stay afloat in that system, alot of the time unhappily, from my experience. Dont forget who ever created this system most of us live in was likely not any smarter then yourself. You get one life do what you enjoy, if the ones closest to you can't accept and appreciate you doing what makes you happy its them who needs to re-evaluate their lives, not you. GL bro

I definitely agree and in general I don't give af what people think, but when it's the people closest to you who it can be tough.

I agree that it's blind sheep lacking the ability to think critically. Just tough at times, thanks for the kind words!

For the most part I just refrain from telling people that I play poker, and when I do there is a lot of skepticism.

If study after study shows that no one can consistently pick stocks better than random selection (throwing darts at a wall, a monkey pointing at his picks), then what value is being a stock broker or mutual fund manager adding to society? Lots of examples like this unfortunately.
