played a little bit today and made ft of a small MTT
this MTT had some bounces, some in my favour, some not so much, but meh result, I'll take it since I have been bricking MTTs this month up until this point

got crippled aipf AJo<A10o 10 on the river, same guy won AKo<A10o vs me few orbits earlier, but I did get 88 in vs JJ first few hands and spike an 8, so wtv

I srsly hope to put in a somewhat decent grind this month, even though have a bunch of school work to catch up on.

Pretty unhappy with how my grind has been going lately, cd has turned on me which makes sense and volume has been low. Need to regroup and push through and start putting in serious volume and work.

I've been playing more DFS as of late and really getting into it. Trying to improve and find more optimal ways to win. I've been having fun so that's a positive. Trying to build the bankroll.

So it has been a minute since I last updated this thread and I'll explain what's been going on.

University: I have been trying to get on top of all of my studying/work for my classes since this is ultimately my first priority. It seems like every week I have had a quiz or midterm this month so a lot of my time is being focused into my studies. I have two papers to write for the first two weeks of November along with another midterm and some quizzes. Therefore, I will be relatively occupied, which is fine.

DFS: As for this topic, I have only briefly mentioned it before in the last few posts. Essentially, I have been playing Daily Fantasy Sports pretty much 5-6 times a week. I find it really fun and a decent sweat. I am focusing on NHL since that is the sport I know the best in terms of individual players and team dynamics. As for a sample size, I ultimately think I need the entire season to determine whether or not I am a winning player, but I will have a good idea roughly halfway through the season. To this point, I play on DraftKings and FanDuel and started with 200$ on each site and am trying to build up my rolls. So far things are going decently well, which explains why this has become time consuming. I probably spend 2 hours a day forming my roster and going over everything I need in order to be prepared. With that said, that's 2 hours I could be playing poker or studying. I definitely want to see where the DFS can take me, so I will continue doing it as at the moment, I am enjoying it more than poker and that alone is worth more than money to me.

Poker: I am honestly having a decent month results wise so in the larger scheme, I cannot complain. With that said, my volume is severely lacking. So I thought to myself, well if I'm going to play less, that means I need to play more volume within that time frame instead of waiting for action. With that in mind, I have been considering playing on another site as well and testing those waters out. We will see if that is really necessary or not. I have not been playing any MTTs since my sessions have been pretty short lately. I am not even sure how much I am up or down in regards to MTTs this month, but I think I am up. I can't really tell since I didn't renew my SharkScope subscription this month so I'll figure it out eventually. Below I have posted my MTD.

With all that said, I am also going to be playing in 3-4 footy leagues this winter so that will add to my schedule, but is very important for physical health and mental well being so I am excited for that. In all honesty, I look forward to putting this month behind me and continuing on with my challenge. I hope to finish the month out strongly and efficiently.
Thanks for reading guys!

Well today I played the most poker I've played in a while and I think it went okay for the most part. It's been hard to put in volume lately due to being busy with school and I find that when I have an assignment or test looming over me, it's really hard to concentrate on anything but getting that done :/. So I guess that means I need to knock some school stuff out asap, meaning this week. I have been dabbling in 5$ Spins lately and they are really soft, but nothing noteworthy to say so far. For now, the plan is to continue playing them when action is lacking. It would be cool to build up a 5k game sample or something, but who knows if I would want to do that at 5$ Spins.

Rest of the night gonna take it easy watch the rest of the late games in NHL. Have a few little sweats going for DFS, hope to take them down .

Dry weekend for me, meaning no drinking, and might be this way next weekend also. Needs to be this way until I am on top of all my ****.

Woke up late today and started the day off watching some NFL. Actually played DFS NFL for the first time, but for peanuts. Went decently, still have some guys left in lineup, so we'll see how that goes. Eventually, I decided to get on the grind and started playing hypers and some spins and registered one MTT. Here I am, couple hours later, just came 3/300 for 330 haha. Not bad, could have been better but chip leader was on a tear, probably busted out the entire table. Anyways, volume still gross, but working on it. Have some NHL DFS for tonight and going to work on my paper more also. That's all for now guys, decent day though .

Hey man loving the thread gl with the goal! .

As someone who's only really played as high as the 5's how reggy does it get up at the 10's and 25's?

I imagine because you're paying hypes that at least deters some of the regs?

Hey thanks for the support man, glad you enjoy!

25s+ basically just regs sit and if they notice someone in lobby that they don't recognize they'll just start sitting 24/7
even at 10s you could have the same problem, but wouldn't be as bad due to more games going

It was definitely a productive month in overall terms for me. I finally found my priorities taking over and as a result, poker took a bit of a back seat. This past month I had and still have a lot of school work and have been trying to knock one thing out at a time. Honestly, when it comes to academics, I really try to strive for excellence, since in the past I have messed up and have no room for error anymore. Apart from that, I also dipped into Daily Fantasy Sports and that definitely added to my distractions. I'll get into that more later in this post though.

✫ 10$ Hypers ✫

These are still my bread and butter and supply me with the most action. At times, I find myself not taking them as seriously as I should, but I have been better about that as of late. I will continue to grind them for the time being.

✫ 25$ Hypers ✫

I'm glad to say that my comfort level at this stake is pretty solid now. The volume is pretty low, but I will work on that in the future. Currently still working on building a solid sample size though. As you can see I am still running under EV, but I don't feel salty or entitled about it for some reason. Maybe I'm just glad that I'm not losing money haha.

✫ All Hypers ✫

Posting this graph just to combine the above graphs to give everyone (including myself) a better idea of how things went. Weak overall volume, but not too bothered since I accomplished a lot outside of poker. Had I not done well in school and played this small sample, I would be furious tbh. That would be unacceptable.

[ ] 2000 Hypers
[x] 3.5-5% evROI

✫ MTTs ✫

I finally decided that I should be making the most out of PT4 and track all my volume for this challenge. Therefore, I acquired my Hand History since September 1st and imported it into my PT4 just to include my MTTs instead of using SharkScope. I don't pretend to be particularly good at MTTs and I also don't put in any serious volume. Instead, I just flick one or two in whenever I feel like it to add variety to my grind. I do think I am decent enough to be profitable so why not try and get some binks towards this huge challenge. As you can see, ridiculous graph, but I guess just ran decently in certain spots and the MTTs are soft af.

Month Results

Hyper Profit: 1333$
MTT Profit: 682$
Rakeback: 58$

Total Profit: 2073$

Challenge: 3950$

No progress bar this time since I'm a noob and don't know how to make a good one and couldn't find one I liked.

Overall not very happy with volume, but could have been worse also. Decently happy with how I played 90% of the time. As for the results, not sure how I feel about them but I'll definitely take them! Slowly chipping away at my challenge, can't wait to have time to put in serious volume. I will still be busy until roughly the 10th of November though. Just need to grind through school for now and as I've mentioned, I'm looking forward to my footy leagues starting up as well.

Lastly, I thought I should mention DFS in this post for a few reasons. One, I have been spending a decent amount of time playing it and am considering October as my learning curve. I profited playing NHL with a bit of NFL and learned a lot in a short period of time. Do I particularly like the fact that I am competing with the pros in 1$ games? No, not really. Although, the way I see it, if I put my mind to it I will be successful and from my understanding, the games are relatively soft for the time being. For those wondering, I play on DraftKings and FanDuel. I was profitable this past month but I plan to withdraw both my account down to 200$ and try and build up a roll on each site with what I learned this past month. DFS is very time consuming, but also very enjoyable as well as potentially lucrative. I would kick myself if I did not give it a shot!

Hey bro, really liked your old thread, this ones no different. Good luck with the new challenge.

Was wondering what you think the best resource was/is for improving your game at the Hypers? Like vid packs, coaching, or just putting the hours in with a certain software?

Cheers.

Hey thanks for the kind words man!

I would have to say that the main way in which I have improved was from just playing lots of volume and thinking about situations thoroughly. This with a combination of trying different things in my games. In my opinion, the main way to improve your game is to always be adapting and questioning all of your own, as well as your villain's lines. It also definitely helps to have some poker friends who you can talk hands with. If not just try posting in the HU forum. That was probably the most used resource for me.

So this month I haven't had much time to play. I think I've probably played fewer than 150 hypers. On the bright side, I have been relatively productive outside of poker. Anyways, this evening I log into my FTP account only to see a change in the SNG Lobbies. The lobbies have now been radically changed to one randomized lobby. I guess rip FTP. I will have to move back to Stars (although I am not confident in that since Stars will most likely follow suit) or find an alternative skin. Ridiculously tilting and concerning.

edit: for my own future reference, this is how my current month is going in terms of hypers before this ridiculous update

This change has been pretty ridiculous as I have ranted about previously. Alternatively, I am going to look into playing on other sites and maybe even dabbling within the new system. I am still unsure. On a positive note, they did add super progressive knockout MTTs which are a blast and I missed playing them on Stars. Anyways, this little scare made me realize a few things and woke me up from lala land.

1. I am glad I am in school full-time and pursuing my degree/passion.
2. At worst, I will have made enough money to not have to work a part time job for a while doing something I enjoy
3. There is always the option of switching formats, I could try cash/spins if I don't just move to different site for my grind
4. The interesting possibility of focusing all of my effort into DFS is definitely tempting and potentially just as lucrative if not more

Therefore, I still have plenty of options and am sitting in a good position having 0 debt and a decent amount of assets.

As for school, I have another paper to do and an upcoming quiz before finals, but I have hustled through most of my work and am very pleased! Hope to keep it going!

It looks like it will be another month consisting of poor volume on my part. Although, I am not too caught up about it since I have been relatively happy as of late. Had 3 footy sessions this week which was nice. Definitely need to get into better shape, but it's a start. Also, I haven't drank alcohol in a few weeks and feel pretty clear headed and fresh which is nice. Pretty sweet not waking up on the weekend with a massive hangover haha. For the most part, I just passed through a busy cycle of school work and have been relaxing these past few days and playing NHL DFS.

I actually rage quit FanDuel because there was one day I made a really good lineup but somehow I forgot to switch my goaltender after I found out the backup was playing instead. FanDuel does not allow late switches so it was pretty ****. Ended up almost cashing everything, but instead bubbled and that was with my goalie putting up a glorious 0 points. So I am focusing on DraftKings instead.

Poker wise, I have been playing primarily when I've felt like it, but it has been a bit of a challenge to figure out an optimal strategy for these newly implemented lobbies. I am still looking into adding another site to my grind. Might also continue to dabble in 10nl whenever I feel like I am up to it or while I am working on DFS.

To be honest, this was not the month I was hoping for. My poker volume was absolutely abysmal. There were contributing factors outside of my lack of effort though. I would say the main reasons I did not put in half as much volume as I would like are:

1. University
2. DFS
3. Lack of effort
4. Lobby changes

As I have already stressed, University is my #1 priority and I am fine with how things went for the most part. Although, finals are quickly approaching and I will be on that grind big time. I believe I have all 4 within 5 days, so if I cannot get them spaced out a tad, there will be no time for poker or dfs for that matter.

There were definitely times when I could have stayed home and grinded poker, but chose to blow off some steam and go out with friends and maintain a social life. For example, this past weekend I went on a moderate 3 day bender and had footy twice as well. I didn't even log onto any poker sites.

Firstly, FTP where I have been playing for some time implemented new Lobbies where you are randomly matched up with opponents depending on when people decide to register. This is pretty ****. I did look into some alternative sites and will most likely add them to my volume if not leave FTP altogether. Apparently, Stars will be undergoing the same Lobby transition, but they are sinking anyways with all these new "money grabs". I don't want to focus too much on these negatives though. I actually find it funny when people say there's no money left in poker, because I clearly see many people in PG&C printing. Anyways, with that said, might as well update everyone on how the month unfolded.

✫ 10$ Hypers ✫

I will always feel comfortable playing these stakes and adding them in when I feel like playing lower stakes or want to ease into a session. Although, when I was playing this month, I did try to play more 25s to maximize my hourly and improve more.

✫ 25$ Hypers ✫

This is where the majority of my reg battles occur, especially with this new lobby system in place. I must have played a solid amount vs regs only, which is not ideal, but part of the grind. So far, I have yet to play an opponent who I thought was unbeatable or had my number so to speak. Although, some regs are more concerned with simply achieving volume, regardless of who they play. This is where the battle for the lobbies has come into play essentially. Not very happy with my results, but content with how I played for the most part. Still a lot of improvement to be had.

✫ All Hypers ✫

Just an overall graph combining 10s and 25s for the month.

[ ] 2000 Hypers
[x] 3.5-5% evROI

✫ MTTs ✫

Did not play too many of these and for the most part, didn't win flips or hold when I needed to. That is fine though because of the puny sample size and overall I am doing well since my challenge began. Basically just posting the graph for the sake of consistency in monthly updates.

Month Results

Hyper Profit: 693$
MTT Profit: 6$
Rakeback: 54$

Total Profit: 753$

Challenge: 4703$

Not happy with how the month went and I have already expressed the reasons why. All that I can do is move on to December with a positive outlook and mentality. I hope to finish strong in terms of finals and put in a solid grind poker wise when the exams are over. In case anyone was wondering, I treated this past month as a learning curve in terms of DFS even though I said that about October. I did decently well, definitely learned a ton and will have profited enough to intrigue my interest going further. Perhaps in the future I will update this thread with DFS updates as well.

Well, I decided to play a solid sesh to start the month off, and let's just say it was extremely frustrating. Ended up playing regs for the majority of the volume due to these stupid lobbies and just ran absolutely horrible. I'd say only 3 games I made mistakes that are inexcusable and that can be all the difference, but the rest was just ridic cd. Very frustrated and got the "wow I want to quit" feeling, which I have not had in ages. Pretty stupid to get that feeling over marginally poor results, but it was my biggest tilt trigger. When regs run like god vs me. Definitely a leak I need to fix. It does not cause me to play worse, just makes me steamed.

Anyways, I ordered some headphones for black friday and got a pretty good deal. They finally came today and are pretty decent. They're Sennheiser HD598 in case anyone is wondering and got the special edition black ones. Originally, I was looking at getting Bose ones, but these will be my training wheels in the meantime.

Here's today's results:

It's not all sunshine and daisies.

Currently going through a ds and it definitely does not feel good. I will continue to grind through as usual though. Enjoying grinding with the new headphones, so that is a positive. Have been playing a large % of regs lately, so am trying to play sharper, but I'd say 3-4 of my games today I just spewed/made horrible plays. Some out of frustration, others out of just not believing villains. Anyways, seriously need to contemplate dropping poker entirely for 3 weeks. I think that would definitely be +EV in terms of school. Although, have been grinding hard and find it more difficult to stop when losing. Still unsure.
