First day of my Summer grind in the books. Volume was not great and I felt pretty rusty and lacked confidence in some games. Did not check my results and will likely not check them whatsoever. The plan is just to focus on solid volume!

Knocked out my first live sesh of the Summer last night. Was only five hours but was good to get my feet wet again. Played well for most part and won some money. No real hands of note though. Debating going to play live again tonight, but I plan on playing it by ear.

The month of June basically flew by. I took two Summer classes, which were more intense than I had anticipated. I ended up going to 90% of my classes and worked pretty hard. One of my professors I found to be very motivating and had nothing but respect for him. He pushed me to work harder and the results were merited. Very refreshing to find a professor who actually makes a difference, rather than just blindly going through the university system.

On the poker front, my PT4 indicates that I only played 11 days this month. This does not surprise me in the least as my mind was focused elsewhere. Although, considering the lack of volume, the actual results were good. I had originally planned on grinding super hard this Summer, but honestly Summer school and other things just take up a lot of my time. I considered taking an impromptu trip to Vegas, but because I am taking more Summer classes, I simply will not be able to. It sucks, but gotta do what you gotta do. Anyways, onto the little poker that I played...

Honestly, I do not know what the rest of Summer has in store for me. I plan to grind online when I can. I plan on grinding up a live bankroll again from 1k at 1/2. The reason for this is because I essentially fired my live bankroll into crypto currency in late March. That is the reason for the restart. Overall, my health has been pretty decent and I have been relatively active. I will be taking Summer school again to lighten my course load for my final year when I will have the toughest classes of my undergraduate. If anything, I should make a greater effort with my social life and hit more parties and social events because it has seriously lacked this Summer. Something's gotta give!

Cheers,

The other night I played my first live session of July. Headed over to Playground Poker because it looked like good action and there was a high hand promotion running. Before I know it, I'm in a 1/2 game (200 max) for 550 lol. Eventually I have K9o and win the high hand promotion on 99639. The prize was 150$ and a 240$ satty ticket into some bigger live event. So I guess I'll be playing the satty and try to bink something one time haha. Anyways, eventually my table breaks and I get moved to a new table. At the new table I had some interesting hands and chipped up, before getting doomswitched. Here are the hands of note:

1:
Serious looking guy with sunglasses limps utg, I'm on his immediate left and make it 11 with AJo. We see the flop hu and it comes AK2cc. He checks, I bet 15 and he minraised to 30. At this point I honestly think he has a weaker ace, flush draw, or 22. I decide to go with it and pop it to 80 and he ships and I call. Turn 10c, river 8x. I show and he reluctantly shows A10dd for 400$ pot. He then tells me he thought I had a flush draw lol.

*Online I'd call and let them bluff at it and decide, but live are droolers for most part.

2:
Serious looking guy with sunglasses on my immediate right opens to 11 utg 7 handed and I pop it to 30 with AKdd. Old timer in SB calls and we see the flop 3 ways. Flop comes AJ8h no diamonds and it checks to me I cbet 55. Old timer folds and fish literally tanks 45 seconds then calls. Turn is a 4h and fish tanks maybe a minute then open ships 210. Hero?

3:
Serious looking guy open utg to 8 and I pop it to 25 with AKo, old timer flats again in SB then fish rips it in for 188 and I reshove since old timer had 200ish. I ask this fish if he wants to run it, he says no. Board runs out something like 104368r and I table AKo fish shows Q8s and scoops. I don't say anything, but the table makes some comments then fish mutters under his breath "all it takes is some balls."

4:
Old timer limps utg 7 handed, someone else over limps, then serious looking fish makes it 20 from SB and him and I are 400+ deep so I decide to flat AQo from BB and of course old timer comes along as well. Flop comes AKQr and serious fish checks, I bet 35, old timer calls, fish folds. Turn 3x I ship for old timers last 115-120 and old timer reveals Ah then goes into tank and says "how can I be beat here you didn't raise preflop!!" then he calls off and river comes Jx old timer has A10hh and scoops.

All and all lost a little over 1bi, but won the high hand promotion so wasn't a terrible night, but could have gone better for sure.

Last night I decided to use my satellite phase ticket that I had won so I headed over to Playground Poker. My table was incredibly soft featuring some absolute maniacs. I'm talking guy shoving 3x pot with AKo on Q852r and getting snapped off by 76o. Anyways, eventually ran into a spot where one limp, I iso with AJs and SB flatted, then maniac on tilt shoved BB. I reshoved to iso because I knew he was light, but SB tanks and calls off with AKs lol. Maniac had A7s but AKs ended up taking it, so that was that.

Naturally, I headed straight over to cash. Only had to wait 10-15 minutes before a new 1/2 table opened. Ended up being a good sesh, my first hand I sat down got dealt AKo and squeezed but no action. Second hand was more action.

I overlimp A5hh from B and we see flop 5 ways.
(10) Flop J32hh, first limper bets 6, folds to me I pop it to 15 and he calls. We see turn heads up.
(40) Turn Ax, he checks I bet 22 and he check-raises to 45. I think about peeling in position, but ultimately I just decide to rip it in and he calls.
River 5x, I show, he mucks.

A while passes before the next significant hand takes place.

Playing 6 handed and guy I saw raise Q9o on 996dd before is in the straddle. MP limps, I pop it to 20 on B with Kx10s. Straddle calls and so does first limper.
(60) Flop KJ4ss, checks to me I bet 40 and then straddle check-raises to 120 with 80 behind. Limper folds. Hero?

Anyways, other than that was rather straightforward and I played well. Also ordered the California Wrap, which was pretty legit!

My volume this Summer has been absolutely abysmal. I really do not know what has gotten into me, I have lost a lot of drive at the minute. I am taking another Summer class and I must say, so far it is pretty terrible. I do not really have a choice at this point, so I will grind it out. The good news is, the grading scheme is not too tedious so if I show up to class and do the work, I could walk away with a good grade. On the poker front, I really do not know. I need to put volume in.

Table change

Second hand at new table I'm in BB with QQ one limp some middle age guido makes it 11 with 130 total and some donk flats I pop it to 41 only the donk calls
Flop 1083cc he asks to see how much I have then checks I just shove 1.5x pot and he says "if you got it you got it" runout Kc8x he says trips and shows 98o

Donk limps utg I pop it to 12 with 99 over that and a post from MP then middle age guido ships it 130 and donk snap limp jams his 450 stack even though I only have 200 and I fold they both have AK and 9 in window fml

I limp 85ss utg next guy over limps then competent kid makes it 10 and it gets called 4 ways before me so we end up seeing flop 6 ways
Flop J74ss, I check and it checks to kid who bets 20 it folds to me I check raise to 65 and he shoves I call
Turn 9x
River 4s
He has KcKh

Maniac donk straddles i open AA utg to 15 and we see flop 5 ways
Flop Q106dd I bet 40 one guy flats then middle age guido ships 250 and then maniac says let's gamble and reshoved 268 so I ship it in and middle age guido doesn't want to run it three times
Turn 5c
River 4d
Maniac shows 75dd hits the flush rip 750 pot

Somehow still ended sesh in the black though, so that's a positive.

Played online today then decided to go play live. On my way to play at Playground, the traffic was horrific and I basically couldn't really get there so I decided to change route and go to Montreal Casino. It had been a while since I last played there so for some reason I called in and put my name on the 2/5 list. Ultimately, it was short lived as I wanted to get in a workout and my gym closes at 9pm!

4:35
2/5

Second hand one guy limps from MP I pop it to 20 on B with A9o and BB also calls so three way to the flop
(60) Flop 972r, BB checks, limper leads 40 I decide to flat and Bb folds
(140) Turn 5x, limper leads 110 I decide to just call definitely think I'm still good
(360) River 5x, limper motions for me to move my hands but I thought he checked so I ask if he checked he says no I want to see how much you have then he slides out a big bet I didn't even look I just snapped him off and he snap mucked lol

Looks like my table isn't good because a guy just sat down bought in max and guy on his direct left snap asked for table change

Guy opens to 20 MP I have 87cc in SB and peel we see flop heads up
(40) Flop K93cc, I check he bets 25 I call
(90) Turn Kc, I check he checks back
(90) River 8x, I lead 65 he calls and mucks

Switching back to 1/2 these guys playing musical chairs and two big fish left so the table is bad now

July is pretty much coming to a close and the weather here has been super shaky. It has basically been raining/cloudy 3-4 days per week so far this Summer. Although, the good weather appears to be on the horizon. On the poker front, I really did not play too much, but there is still time to crank out some volume. I ended up dropping my Summer class because I just could not get mentally into it. Anyways, now I basically have until the end of August to enjoy Summer to the fullest and I am thrilled!

This past weekend, my buddies and I went on a roady to Vermont to do this island bike path. It ended up being a fun trip with a lot of good sights. I'll leave you guys with a few pics that I took. It was honestly good to disconnect for a weekend and just enjoy nature, it was much needed!

I do not really have that much to say about this past month. I tried to enjoy the weather when I was able to and partake in fun events with my friends as much as possible. As a result, poker took a backseat and my grind might as well have been non existent. Poker has taken a backseat in my life for quite some time now. It is something I will have to reflect upon. Anyways, for now I will just post the graphs and move on.

I really do not have much to say about this month besides it was disappointing on the poker front. It is not like I put in a serious grind, so not really bothered. Overall, it was a fun, eventful month and I cherish the real experiences and memories I made far more than a figure I would have made from grinding. With that said, you get what you put in and I will reevaluate moving forward as per usual.

Definitely good to be in the positive, that's for sure.
Honestly I do not really have plans to become a pro even though I think I'd be able to. I've never really wanted to be a poker pro and the more that I play live poker, the more the idea repulses me. Grinding live can be loads of fun, but you subject yourself to such a grimy demographic. Of course I could just play online, but I'd rather pursue other endeavors.

----------

With that said, I've put in a few live sessions this month (all 1/2). The big bad beat jackpot at Playground is currently sitting at over 1.1M and there has been a ton of action as a result. I actually find the games more reg heavy as of late though. It has been a grind to put in the hours and sit there seeing 20-27 hands/hour. Definitely a tough transition from playing 2-5 tables heads up at once where the action is always on me and I'm playing practically ATC.

Anyways, have been running poorly live for a while but it does not really matter since it does not change much. Here are a few hands I played from the other night. The first hand is an example of my fancy play syndrome and how I've actually been trying to cut out plays like that and just play straightforwardly (at least at 1/2). It's tough because by playing more disciplined and straightforward, I am essentially telling myself to think less about the game which is stupid.

Also few funny moments from live.
1. Lady from J9o hand was telling me I looked like her nephew and pulled up pictures on her phone and showed me lol. At one point she wouldn't stop talking about it so I was just like maybe I am your nephew!

2. I opened to 10 utg in a game and some reg min 3bet to 20 from B to isolate me in postion and we checked it down on like AK748r or something. I won vs his Q2s and was like get rekt this ain't online buddy! About a minute later guy on my left leaves and reg immediately changes places to my left haha. Gotta be careful giving them information!

3. Guy flopped a straight flush other night vs higher flush and shows his hand 95dd on 876ddd vs some old timer and it checked to turn and old timer bet and guy snap shoved lmao. Old timer called off with QJdd and guy was like please tell me we have the bad beat!! It was impossible though he had tail ends of the straigh flush and didn't even realize lol

MP reg limps, I overlimp MP Ac5x, super tight old timer makes it 12 on my direct left and folds back to reg who calls I think about it and peel too. Three ways to the flop.

Flop (35) KQJcc. Reg checks, I check, old timer checks back.

Turn (35) 6c. Reg leads 11, I make it 35, old timer quickly calls, reg folds.

River (110) 8x. I think and bet 100. Old timer thinks 20 seconds then folds KK face up haha.

Open KcKs utg to 10 8 handed and it folds to SB who flats off 80 total stack and donk lady sitting with 450 flats BB. See flop three ways.

Flop (30) J87dd. SB leads 17, BB flats, I pop it to 81 and SB calls off his stack then donk BB tank calls saying "how much is this going to cost me on the turn and claiming that she's a degenerate"

Turn (270) Ax. Lady checks, I shove last 100 and she calls saying she's a degenerate.

River 10d. Rip. Lady shows J9o for a straight and SB mucks and I muck.

I have just returned from a family vacation for the first time in several years. My family goes on vacation every Summer, but I have skipped out on the last 2-3 years. Anyways, this year they decided to go to the East Coast of the United States. We mainly visited NH, ME, and MA. It was a good time filled with lots of food and drink accompanied by nice weather and sights. I really wanted to go play live in the states, but it just did not pan out and at the end of the day, I rather hangout with my family and have experiences than sit in a card room. Although, there was a day where it rained pretty hard, but I opted to go shopping instead.

It was good to barely use my phone, computer, watch tv, or anything for the week. Definitely good to disconnect every once and a while. Overall, it was a nice trip and was good to take a week off and not play poker at all. I was very motivated at times seeing all the beautiful beach houses. One day I would love to have a beach house by the ocean, so it definitely gives me something to work and build towards! With that said, I'll leave everyone with a few pictures I took here and there.

One beach we went to, cannot really remember which one (I think it was a super quiet one in Mass).

Just a cool pic I took from the car in NH I think?

Cool art mural in Old Portsmouth, NH.

Mainly my motto during this trip .

One meal I took a pic of in Old Portsmouth, NH. Was pretty good, liked the location too. I think that was fish and chips shrimp style.

Lastly, here's a fresh lobster roll I had in Maine!

So where does that leave me? Well I have definitely been drilled with that Summertime Sadness Post Vacation effect. Bad feels, but that's how it goes every year. I believe I have two more weeks until University starts up again in the Fall, so I'll have to make the best of it!
