Couple of days ago had the internet go out mid session, already had a $100 Spin up and got disconnected right after I had registered for five more $60 Spins. Fiddled with the router for a few seconds and then stared at my screen hoping it would magically reconnect itself when I heard a commotion outside.

Opened the front door and there's this technician from Infinitum (the local cable/internet company) literally pulling cables directly out of the wall right next to my apartment.

Me: Senor, hay una problema con el internet?
Him: No

Errm, alright. Cost me $400 and 3000 cEV, which is worse considering how this month has gone so far.

Unfortunate. Have four more days left in Mexico before I head to the US for a wedding (and then Vancouver).

Friend of mine (and poker author!) interviewed me for his website, it's a rather quick read if you've got 5 minutes to spare.

http://www.blackrain79.com/2016/05/i...elite-sit.html

Arrived in Vancouver late Sunday night, still in the process of trying to find an apartment downtown. Currently staying with my girlfriend in the Burnaby area, hoping to be all settled by the end of the month so I can get back to the grind.

Gl man! Don't worry about anything other regs say, most of it is just d.ick swinging or angle shooting. Like you said, you don't play poker for their adoration or approval!

Hope the next month is better!

Have recently made spins my main game so maybe one day I'll see you at those stakes!

Wanted to do WSOP this year, but most likely not. I've been slacking on volume + need to be around to keep the stable running smoothly. Will be hiring a 'Money man' shortly which should make it easier to get away, but I need to focus on my e-grind for a while.

Thanks guys! Is this in reference to the fact I'll surely have to change the name?

One other thing, I started looking into 2 BR suites in Vegas for Sept 8-11. My parents are headed there for a vacation and I thought I'd come hang out (with my GF) while they were in town. We could just get our own room/suite, but my parents are on the more frugal side and we'd end up being pretty far from each other.

Any recommendations? Saw Aria was ~$1000/night for a 2 BR and Polo Towers was only $300 on AirBnB.

Right, you surely have to delegate as many chores as possible to someone else. The only things that you should do yourself are those that you do much better than others, e.g. the poker grind. (I'm a bit of a Tim Ferriss fan, as you might have noticed.)

That's why I'm surprised that you're running a stable yourself instead of simply coinvesting into a stable that does allow such an option (to simply give them money and get 60% or so of the staking profit - or absorb the same % of the loss - that it generates).

In general, if you feel that the stable deserves your personal time, it's true only for its high stake part that earns the most revenue per hour of handling. While it's useful to talk with your low stake horses once in a while, it's more +EV for you to limit the contact with them to merely something like the Q&A Twitch streams of Phil Nagy (the WPN CEO) while having day-to-day affairs with those horses handled by your staff.

You surely do. The name gives a false impression that psyducks are welcome into the stable. And in general, studies have shown that people are more likely to finish tasks when they have positive names (e.g. 'Happy Hour', 'Merry Missions'), so I think the negative (though admittedly funny) stable name is demotivating your horses a bit.

For the most part, I enjoy it. Also I feel like as a new group (and one of many available to potential horses), I'd like to do whatever possible to make players choose my stable over another and that includes a lot of hands-on assistance. As time goes on, I'll hire other people to take over some of those duties but I highly doubt I'll ever be cut off from the process entirely.

They are, we accept poker players of any species

Well that sounds equal parts ridiculous and un-quantifiable

Spending most of tomorrow moving into my new apartment in downtown Vancouver, so monthly recap time.

Been using HM1 to track my hours but apparently the version I had is no longer allowed by Stars. Something about the HUD being unfair or w/e, I wasn't even using it.

Regardless, I get in about 30-35 Spins/hour so it isn't too hard to calculate. Comes out to roughly 75 hours.

Obviously not happy with the results and I'm starting to feel the frustration that comes with running terribly for so long. I'm $30k+ under EV for the year (in 10,000 games) and $70k since September. Easily the worst stretch I've ever had and it's been a somewhat consistent downer as I've ran under EV each month for the past eight months.

In short, psyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Still, if I step back and look at the big picture of 2016, it's not so bad. My stable had its best month to date and despite being $30k under expectation, my hourly for the year is still a hair above $60. Just need to play MOARRRR and by the end of the week, I'll be set up in Vancouver. 150+ hour months should become commonplace, but we'll see.

Thread is about to get filled with pics of homemade meals. Can't take the credit tho, almost all of them will be made by my GF. Downswing comfort food IMO.

Monthly freerolls ($25 each) open to the next three posters, pick one:

1) Gym x16
2) 120+ hours at the tables
3) 3,500 Spins

Let's go Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune!

Oops, I forgot that psyducks can evolve into golducks and become cool swimmers in fish ponds instead of chronic headache sufferers... why hasn't it happened to your avatar and stable, though? Which levels are they at?

But anyway, I think the stable would be more successful if it focused on EV training of claydols.

I keep pressing B as they're about to evolve.

I highly doubt calling us something like "EV Poker Staking Group" would actually make a difference.

Appreciate it, but I've lived here before a few times, mostly downtown and Yaletown. Got the keys to the apartment today, 2 BR/2BA right near a Steve Nash fitness so I'll be better equipped to hit one of those freerolls!

Moved our stuff into the new condo last night and are in the process of setting everything up. Thankfully internet/cable was one of the first things we got done.

Using the second bedroom as my office. Currently looks super cluttered as we've put all the random boxes in there, but once I get that junk out of the way I'll post some proper pics of the grind station. Bad news for the freeollers; I put in 5 hrs/150+ games in today and made it to the gym. And this is obviously going to jinx it, but...

For the moment, I'm above EV this month!
