Just quickly browsed through Air BnB; not that many places that can house 25 though. This place is a bit pricier than the one you posted in the thread, Pads, mainly because of location I guess. It is closer to the airport than Granada, though, and it is also a better fit if you plan on doing non-poker stuff during your stay (because of its' proximity to Marbella).

Literally have so much drive and enthusiasm for the next challenge that I want to do.

I just wrote an email and the first paragraph read:

"Hi,

My name is Patrick Leonard, I'm 28 years old and currently retired, but in 10 years I'm going to be a manager in the premier league."

I really want to pursue coaching and management to a professional standard. I'm not sure what the best way to go about it is though. Different options initially were to write stand out email to one of

- professional football clubs academy
- non league semi professional teams
- universities

From there I would hopefully get a gig somewhere and gain experience as a coach/assistant manager kind of role. The new season starts after July so between then and now I would fast track all coaching badges to the absolute maximum I could and try and gain as much knowledge as possible.

I looked into the closest university to me and ridicuously they have this potentially amazing football coaching course which is partnered by Chelsea FC. The university is literally around the corner from my house.

http://www.stmarys.ac.uk/foundation/...d-development/

So now another option would be to potentially do this course and learn lots of new things and pick up some contacts. Any suggestions what people think?

I know this sounds crazy and stupid, but I'm very serious about devoting a significant part of my time and my life to this over the upcoming years, close friends know I always speak about it, but I wouldn't say this proeprly unless I meant it. I want to do this and I don't like failing in this kind of thing.

Any recommendations what people think? Best ways to do it? Thoughts on the course?

what's your playing background? usually playing at a higher level earlier in your life is a pretty helpful door opener. the course thing probably won't be THAT useful i'd guess but doesn't seem like it can hurt at all, so might as well do it and see if you learn anything/make any meaningful contacts.

You're looking at probably 5 years to get your UEFA pro license. I've only ever seen ex-pros be able to move through the joke of a system that the FA is quicker than the norm.

I know multiple people who have been working within the professional and non-professional set-ups in the UK and in Canada, where i'm currently based. It's thousands of hours of work, through a system that is hard to progress in at the best of times.

Writing a letter to a professional club is not going to work. They have hundreds of staff that would jump at the next level of the coaching ladder.

You might have some luck at a semi-pro outfit that are struggling, but it's likely that will take a lot of good fortune. They are likely to still be getting 50+ apps for the job roles that crop up. The club I work for recently advertised 5 jobs and got over 300 applications that met the minimum requirements, which included years of experience plus coaching badges etc.

The degree would be a good start, but I don't think it will progress you as much as you think it will.

Any contacts from your time in Southampton youth set up? Maybe that's a good place to start?

Perhaps try to contact Mark Warburton? He did almost exactly what you are looking to do - transitioning from a career as a trader to a manager within a few years.

It's not what you know it's who you know and how much are you willing to spend.

Set up your own team, get them into the semi pro ranks. Then make your move. The courses etc will help you knowledge wise, but that will be it.

(of course the above will take many hours/days/years and cost a lot of money as well)

just make a lot of money from poker and buy your own team.

tony bloom got his 9 figures from sportsbetting and secured chairmanship at brighton and hove albion.

wonder what tier you could secure with 8 figures from poker.

Hi all,

Yeah, buying a team is definitely the best option I think, however initially I think its imperative to get a bunch of experience coaching in different places, learning more about my weaknesses, seeing more about the behind the scenes of the clubs, learning more about clubs in different areas, finding the right place etc. Just snap buying the first club I could find wouldn't seem very GTO to me, but long term (4+years) buying a football team is the one thing I would really love to do, either by myself or with a consortium of friends, not sure its gto for the chairman to manage the team though

There were a lot of good responses to Elmerixx hand challenge, but I have picked rickyt88 as the winner, congrats! You cover all three questions in your answer and have taken the important factors into consideration. I also like the assumptions you made about his turn range and your answer is also very clear to read and visualize given the software that has been used. I would also lean towards a fold. The spot is close, but given the fact that there are a couple of weaker players still in the field and how much we are risking and big assumptions we are having to make I would go on the pessimistic side and pass on a perhaps slightly +EV spot.
