Think the point about the late structures is that most non special 109s and almost everything below is a crapshoot late while all the hs mtts are decent. Kinda like most of the promos. Which is kinda dumb when hs really really wants ls money

+1

In order for a sustainable environment, you need to build it from the ground up and not the other way around bc hs regs are gonna play either way. I and many others have made reasonable suggestions in mtt comm thread but it seems they are too stubborn to change anything about it. In fact, they even made structures worse in 22- bc they implemented a very bad variable level time structure.

Anyway, gratz on decent sunday

I think to take somebody who is losing you need to mentor them in all forms of poker. I think it's usually a long process.

A few weeks ago I was considering trying to start a YouTube channel and get it as big as possible and one thing i wanted to do was take somebody from real life who has never played poker before and move them into my house and work with them every single day to get them as good as possible and follow their progress on YouTube and through this thread etc. maybe will do it next year, thjnk it would be pretty fun. European did it with a Finnish kid, who was playing a lot of 180s etc but I think he went back into university or something after a couple of months.
Wow, that idea is exactly what I've hoped someone would do (with me) lolol. Obviously I have some background, but I think guidance is so important. I think it would be smart to do it on Twitch/Youtube. TAKE MEEEE PADS. 20 year old with college degree! lol.

On the real, that would be my dream. Beautiful thread Pads, gl.

I normally don't read these PGC threads, not because I'm too cool or w/e but between studying and grinding it's hard to find time. This one has certainly been interesting to follow. Anyways wanted to post my 2c and my personal experience with Patrick.

I actually got coached by Pads like 4 years ago? when he was still a cash reg and managing PS NL english category, our coaching sessions were interesting for sure. Even then he was taking crazy lines that were not what you would consider "standard" and right away I knew this guy thinks outside the box and his reasoning for it made sense too. I definitely picked up a few things and implemented some of the things we talked about. That kind of style is hard to implement/copy though, it's kind of like phil galfond vs sauce style. I personally prefer the more fundamental/gto type style but that's beside the point.

I definitely think pads has been lucky to run as hot as he have, but to be fair you have to put yourself in a situation to get lucky and he has always been hard working, optimistic and willing to take risks. To some degree, you could even argue that his expectations are a bit delusional and unrealistic. However, imo that's the type of crazy mindset it takes to get to the top.

I'm getting a bit long winded so I got to wrap this up but basically I think most guys that are inexperienced, early stages of their poker career will probably benefit from being in the stable, not just for strategy aspect but also for mindset.

FWIW I'm not even friends or talk to pads anymore and he didn't ask me to post this so it's not me bragging up my friend or anything like that.

How did it rate compared to other roasts? Sunday roasts are so ****ing GTO

Which part of London are you in? I am a big Sunday roast fan so try to get to a few around Parsons Green / Fulham / Chelsea.

Bibendum on Sloane Avenue / Fulham Road do a great one with a decent wine list but it is quite expensive.

Thanks for sharing the video.

I have a question about one of the spots - 18 minutes in, we've defended the BB with 87, there's a short stack all in for less than 2bbs.

The flop is Q54, we check/call a 1/3 pot bet, turn J goes checkcheck, river 6, you go for the check raise. You say that you're not going to be value betting this run out much, so for example you say you're not going to be value betting QT/QK here. But you also said that you expect his range to have a lot of showdown hands. Surely if he has a lot of hands that he's trying to get to showdown we should be trying to valuebet our top pairs?
