Day 8

I woke up a bit late, which started my day late. This puts me in a less than happy mood. I feel like I waste the first part of the day, and my morning session. Still I made the best of it and went and grabbed some breakfast at a nice cafe near by. I got back and had a coffee, but the breakfast sandwich I got wasn't very big so the caffeine affected me a lot as I didn't have much in my stomach. I think this set the stage for being a bit on edge while playing. I was playing 4 tables most of the day, but didn't feel super focused, and felt a like my decision process wasn't going through the right stops to reach a solid decision. Overall I don't think I played terribly, but definitely not my A game. A lot of my bluffs didn't work, and some of them seemed futile. People generally don't like to fold in these softer games. I think next time I play, i'll make sure to eat a bit more, and play less tables if I don't feel at my best.

Day 9

Today went well. I started playing the WCOOP. I played a max of 4-5 tables (I added 1 table if it was a NL fullring tournament since they are super easy to play). After working on my game the night before for a long time, I felt very focused, and played great. Unfortunately I ran into a lot of tough spots and maybe made the wrong decision, or maybe just got unlucky. Overall I think it's the best I've played in awhile, and i'm going to keep trying to improve my game and do work. I'm still awaiting a new coffiest shipment, but that won't come for another couple of weeks. In the meantime I'm headed to Paris on Thursday! Should be a fun getaway with my GF. Until then I have a few WCOOPs planned and hopefully I can do something in them!

Day 10

Last couple of days I've been having a hard look at my game. I got a lot of great feedback from friends who I highly respect. It's created a strong confidence in my game, and I feel like I'm playing very well. Overall today was a good day, I played a few WCOOP events, and had no luck so far. (still playing the o8) and played 2-3 tables of PLO. I feel really excited that the WCOOP is here, and the action is popping off. I discussed it with my backer, and it's a potential I start playing 2k plo during the WCOOP because of all the action which i'm really excited for.

Also Coffiest update:
I just ordered a subscription for 48 bottles a month. This is great news.

I got the Soylent 2.0 today, it's pretty decent. It tastes like vanilla soybean milk and it seems pretty nutritious with a good amount of protein. For trying to losing weight I wouldn't recommend it because it's 400 calories and I'm capable of drinking the entire thing in one chug. I don't know if it's very filling for the amount of calories. I'll order the Coffiest next time.

Day 11

Woke up today, and went to the gym for training. It went well over-all. I really need to get to the gym more. With WCOOP and all the action it's realllly hard for me to not play right after waking up. After my gym sesh, I came back and prepared to play my o8 final table (wcoop) and start up some PLO cash. I finished 9th in the o8 (blah) and fired 2 tables of 10/20 PLO. It went well, and I felt surprisingly very comfortable. I've had a lot of experience playing with this type of pool in the past, and I really enjoy it. It feels like I'm being challenged, and dare I say, I feel like i'm rising to it. I think there is a big mix of players at 2k zoom ranging from really bad to really good. So knowing how to play vs good players is way different than knowing how to play vs bad ones. I actually feel very comfortable playing good players, because I become hyper aware of ranges etc... I'm also starting to learn some tendencies of the regs.
Overall it went well, there was a few spots where I got overwhelmed and couldn't come to a decision quick, but in the end I feel I played well.

Back from Paris!
The trip was awesome, and I had a great time. I'm excited to be back and get back into grinding. I'm hoping the vaca didn't interrupt my flow of playing, but I feel as long as I take the right steps getting back into it, i'll be fine
The WCOOP has some great tourneys to take some risks as well. If I can manage to run good in one, it could make a huge impact on my BR. So i'll be grinding the high value tourneys while continuing my PLO grind. The games have looked great, and I expect to be playing 10/20 a decent bit during the WCOOP. Back on the grind tomorrow and it would be nice to have a big score tomorrow in the Sundays!

well I initially started studying PLO because I thought 8-game action wasn't consistent enough. I think PLO is more sustainable for amateur players, I enjoy studying one game (easier to handle for me), It betters my 8-game by getting good at it. I enjoy it more than mixed games at the moment, but there is a chance i return to mixed games. I still play a lot of mixed during the WSOP, SCOOP, and WCOOP.

Day 12

Back from Paris, and I'm back in the saddle. I played a long session yesterday mixed with 6-max and HU. I didn't play my A game in the 500 zoom pool, but played great at the 5/10 regular games, and ran really well. I took a shot at 10/20 hu zoom when the pool was good, and unfortunately ran bad, played mediocre in some hands. I think coming back from vacation I need to take it a little slower, and rebuild the momentum I had. So i'm going to stick to playing 3-4 tables and only play when focused, after I meditate.

Day 13

Rough day. Ran really bad, and lost at high stakes. I felt I played well. I had wrapped up a session up a good amount at 2/5-5/10 and then I saw some good opportunities at 10/20+ and it went south real quick. Lost most my profits and then dipped down hard to hit my stop loss on the day. Oh well, tomorrow will hopefully be better.

Day 14+

Hey guys, I've been avoiding updating this, as it's hard to update when you are on a downswing. After coming back from Paris, I had a good couple of days, followed by one of the worst weeks (money wise) I've ever had. It was really tough to lose almost every day, but it was even tougher dealing with the WCOOP. I had a lot of deep runs in WCOOP, but in the end, I didn't have any success (money wise). One of the worst feelings was stone bubbling the 10k 8-game. The bubble was a 40k bubble, and cashing in it would have set me close to even for the deal i'm in. I got my money in a great spot, but got unlucky and that was all she wrote. PLO has been pretty rough as well, as I've been running very bad at the higher stakes. Overall I feel I'm in good lineups, getting my money in good, and I'm just not winning flips. I felt my play during this time was good and bad. I did a lot of things very well, but may have overlooked a few other things. It's hard to get into details, but I think the things I overlooked are fixable, and I'll be working on them in the future.

Moving forward, i'm in quite a bit of makeup now, but it's not unreasonable that I can get out of it. I'm going to be focusing on playing any good games I see from 3/6-10/20, and will be prioritizing non-stars sites. I've taken a couple days off to re-group my thoughts, and get back on the horse. I'll likely put in a short session tomorrow, to get back into the swing of things, and get an idea of how I feel my game is.

It's been awhile since I updated this. The idea behind this thread is great, but sometimes I lack the discipline to keep up with it. I'll try a bit harder in the future. Having a more tangible goal for this thread will make it easier to follow, and a lot easier for me to update. I know some enjoy daily updates, but I think weekly is going to be better for me, and that's what I'll try to do going forward.

Poker has been really rough the last couple of months. I had gotten the great deal, and have been playing mostly PLO cash 1k-2k. It started off break-even for the first few weeks, and then I took a trip to Paris. When I came back from Paris, I lost almost every day for a month, I bubbled the 10k 8-game WCOOP, and busted other high buy-in tournaments. My mindset shifted slightly even tho I felt I was still playing well. It was hard to accept at first that I was in a downswing, but after accepting it, the downswing hasn't affected me in how I've been approaching the game. I'm optimistic it will turn around as long as I continue to work on my game, and put in quality hours.

Looking forward, I have some other great things in the works, and I'll be able to announce it soon My life is going great, and I am very happy outside of poker. Hopefully the turn around (in poker) will come sooner rather than later.

Hey man.

First time reading your thread. Im kinda lost in certain stuff

For example, in the first page you establish a 2.5k hand per week goal. Is that online??

That is like ridiculously low volume isnt it? its quite easy to have a b/e or losing stretch of say 50-100k hands, that would be months with that kind of volume. Im sure you know this, just wondering why such low hand volume.

Am I missing something?

anyways, very entertaining read and wish you luck, just curious about that.

Ya it's all online. Originally I just wanted to put in 2.5k hands to get a grasp on putting in quality hours. Having a small goal allowed me to ease into it all. Now I play roughly 1.5k hands a day, so it's jumped to around 5-7k hands a week.

This month has been very relaxed. I've taken a bunch of days off to relax and enjoy some life things. I haven't put in much volume at all, often playing only when I feel focused and quitting the second I don't. It feels nice, and even though I could do this for awhile, I'd rather get back on the grind and get in some good volume for November. I'll start aiming for 1k hands a day for as long as I can, and we'll see if I can start making that graph go up!

November so far:

Other than poker, i'm very happy with my Fitness and how I'm progressing. I've been able to get a bit further than I was a couple of months ago, and I'm headed in the right direction to accomplish a couple of my fitness goals.

I've joined Runitonce as an Elite Pro. I'm very excited for this, as it's a great opportunity. I'll be making mostly mixed game videos, so no PLO, but maybe sometime in the far future

Quick Questions;

How do you study PLO? Do you play online, if so what site?

Is it better to play all your volume on stars or to spread it out in search of softer games? Of course mix is stars exclusively, but if youre playing mostly/all PLO.

Do you feel a lot has changed in stud game strategy since you made videos for other sites I enjoyed watching? thx and gl

I review hands, use different programs to better understand certain situations, and think a lot I play mostly on pokerstars online.

I think it's definitely a good idea to spread out your bankroll if the games you play are running on other sites. For 8-game you kind of have to play on stars, but there's some good mixed games on other sites as well.
I don't feel much has changed in stud games in a long time. I think there are a few people who are working on the games, and elevating it, but for the most part it's not a popular game, so not too many people working on it.
