I've done similar challenges for myself several times before but failed all of them. During these attempts I was often under pressure to withdraw money to be able to sustain my way of life. Even if it wasn't much money (~500$/month) it can be quite a blow to a roll you've just started building and it can ruin the challenge.
This time I'm doing it to work on my mental game and discipline. I've been a bit splashy with my money recently, both within and outside of poker, so I've decided to "punish" myself by withdrawing most of my money.

Challenge
300$-30k$ in 4 months without bonuses/Starscoins

I'll use a ~100 BI brm to start with which will increase at higher stakes.
I can rebuy 250$ if my roll get below 50$.
After todays grind, I'll withdraw all my money except for 300$, which I'll start grinding with tomorrow. See you then!

After some success yesterday i withdrew my bankroll and left 300$ and I'm now starting the first session of the challenge with some 2,50$ and 1$ 180's.

It's been quite a slow day, only played 39 tournies in about two hours of grind, but we all need some of those days aswell. The only significant cash was a 5th in a 2,50 and the bankroll lands at 259,13$.
I'm going to go at this at my own speed and won't try to rush it too much, the last thing I want is to lose motivation because I'm forcing myself to play when I'm not feeling it.
I know that we all love graphs, but I'll start posting them once they become interesting, too much effort to go through for just 39 sngs.

After a very disappointing first week consisting of 188 tournaments the bankroll lands at 114,82$. I know the result is standard but the volume is not. Sure I've had alot to deal with this week, but that doesn't justify the embarrassing amount of tournies I've played.
At the start of the challenge I found 100 MTSNGs per day to be a reasonable goal at the micros, which I still think.

I think my 5.15% ITM in the 2,50$ 180's is pretty impressive over 97 tournies


Some things I didn't state clearly in the first post is that:
I will treat a <300$ roll like a 300$ roll
I will play the Sunday Storm every week
I will not accept defeat in this challenge

Guess I'll get back to it with week 2!

Thanks for all the well wishes. Unfortunately, your wishes have not been heard since I've been getting in less volume than a 1-tabler during this first month.

I just reloaded my roll so it's back up to 300$ and am about to start for real.
300$-30k$ in 3 months sounds alot better anyway

Bankroll at 506$ now after a 3rd place finish in the big 0.55$ for 258$ and I'm done for the day even though I only got in 42 mtts. I stopped registering after a few hours to run an errand and I had to bring my phone with me to be able to keep playing. When I got home I didn't feel like starting up more tournies unfortunately.

Roll at 726$ after 45 mtts today, contemplating going out fishing at a bar with a friend, but then my volume will suffer : /

I failed this challenge miserably last year, but I'm going to try again with exactly the same rules but with more motivation

I have until the 15th of July to complete it.

I don't want to piss on your cornflakes but $30K is a really high goal - maybe that's why you have failed previous similar challenges.

$3K is a more realistic start point for 3-4 months work - increasing your roll by 10x is a great result.

I don't want to hate on your advice as I really appreciate it, but 300-3k$ wouldn't even be a challenge. It would get intersting if I changed the time to 1 month, but having completed a challenge and just have 3k$ in the roll wouldn't feel too great.
The goal of 30k$ is possible if I put my mind to it, but if I start slacking it's indeed close to impossible.
I've failed similar challenges in the past because I've always had money to fall back on and therefore my mind hasn't been in it 100%. Now though, I'm pretty much broke since I just payed 2 years worth of rent just because I wanted to be broke so I'd take this more seriously.

You saying that it's really hard just makes me more motivated

Woke up early, so will cool down for a few hours before I go to bed so I wake up during prime time (when the 2,50$ 180's starts regularly).



Roll ended at 637,65$ with an ROI of ~65%, some missing from the graph (KOs).

Just came home from lunch at grandma's, so the grind starts a bit late today. The volume will be alot less today, but that's alright, I'll get on it right away!

I played 55 tournaments this thursday before starting one hell of a weekend which I came home from yesterday. But now it's back to reality
Roll ended at 533,46$ and I'll now start my third day of play.

Think I'm done with todays grind, I'll take a break to eat dinner anyway.

Nice day - what sort of games are you playing?

I only play 9-max NLHE tournies (never time, zoom or ante up) with the occasional <3,5$ 6-max hyper. Aswell as all of the 1$, 2,50$ and 4,50$ 180's and the 5$ 90's that starts during my grind time, which means I usually play between 10-25 tables

I've been speaking with a company which had a telemarketer sign a deal with my mother like 3 months ago now for a few hours. They spoke for like 15 minutes about our needs and what we wanted. At the end of the conversation, during the "signing" part of it all, something completely different were said with a wording constructed to confuse the customer.
I feel so damn powerless when speaking to them now as I'm not even allowed to hear their recorded conversation.
The cost of 800$ that we have to pay for something we thought were something else.
I'm too mad to play.

This first week had some really nice results, especially since I was occupied the whole weekend and didn't get in much volume in general.
I'll hopefully get in alot more volume during my second week

I came to a compromise with the company I spoke with earlier, the guy forgot to call me back though, so I'll have to fix that tomorrow before I start the grind.

About -100$ in todays grind which consisted of 71 tournaments.
I noticed that I play too tight in some spots when I play ~18 tables, so I'll reduce the amount of tables tomorrow and be more careful with my registrations

I can only go up to about 12 tables before playing auto-piloty crap, I have no idea how people 18-24 table all the time!
