Heyyyyyyyyyooooooooooooo,

Obviously the title sounds unrealistic and dreamerish like many of the challenges in here, but i rly dont think its that far out of the realm of possibility.

Basically I want to go a whole year without depositing on stars, im a good winning player (and I'm not just saying that), my bankroll management just sucks. Ive been planning to properly grind for a while, but the thing that motivated me was coming 14th in ftops 6 for like $2k when 1st was $48k losing fh vs str8 flush which basically stressed me out and i thought meh if its that big a deal I shouldnt be playing.

I figure having a blog/challenge will help me record it - plus prove you can move from the micros and make profit from a tiny bankroll even in the current poker climate.

So anyhow the main goals are:

1. Depost $300 on stars
2. By end of 2011 have $50k bankroll on stars
3. Have withdrawn $25k and have it in savings
4. Have withdrawn and spent $25k on living costs/holidays etc.
5. Supernova (even tho its hard with mtts)

I have a plan about how I'm gonna do this, its pretty rough but should work imo.

Plan:
1. Deposit $300, play nothing other than $2.20 180s & 3.25 45s on stars till I have $1500 in the roll. Do not withdraw at any point or play other mtts.

2. With $1500 playin 12 180s mainly, mixing with 3r 180s, 2.20 180s and 6.50 45s. Grind them hard till I have $5500k in the bankroll. If at any point I drop below $1200 I have to go back to step 1 till I have $1500 again and take a 'shot' at #2 again. Do not withdraw at this point unless I need money to live on - at the moment I do not believe I will since I have like £3k in savings that should get me through till March or so when I should have hit the $5.5k.

3. With the $5.5k I can play any freezout mtt up to $55, and any rebuy up to $11r but cant take more than $55 worth of buyins. This gives me 100buyins, if at any point I drop below $3k I have to move down to step 2 untill I hit $5.5k and can take a shot again. Mainly I will still be grinding 12/180s and mixing in some 36/180s whenever they go off as well.
WITHDRAWING: Every 2nd Monday (from when I hit step 3) I will withdraw a set amount of $500 if I have made a profit more than this amount. This is my 'wage' that I will be able to live off, whilst hopefully not depleting the funds a lot. If I have any single cash $5k+ Then I will withdraw 50% of this money and put it in an account i have on access to that is my savings fund that should have $25k at the end of the year

4. Once I reach $20k in my bankroll I am allowed to play up to $109 mtts, and any rebuys/cubeds that total under $109. The reason I am no longer following 100buy in rule is because my edge will be smaller (if it exists) so the variance will be larger. If I drop below $10k I will drop down to #3 again. I would like to state that I will be playing 12 180s and 36/180s a lot here to try and lower variance and bring steady income.
I am allowed to enter the Sunday mil or any $220 mtt IF i sell 50% of myself only.

5. $50k bankroll - If i reach it early before 2012 I can play any mtt less than $250 total, including shots at 50r as 5buyins = 250 etc) and have 100% of myself.



Right I know thats very brief and it prob looks ridiculous, but I think its possible.
I lived off $2 180s playing off a $300 bankroll for 4months or so in 2009, and my hourly was around $17per hour 20tabling, despite people laughing saying "lol 2.20s, get a job at mcdonalds etc".


Another reason for doing this is cuz I just hit a $25kish downswing (staking fked me big time) plus that $10k equity beat = heyooooo lets get a grip.
Plus by tracking it here I get to be able to show this thread to people once its complete IRL and explain it is actually the same as 'having a real job' etc.

So ima post screenshot and updates frequently, and also I will be trying to track my hourly $ rate for all possible followers that wanna try similar. I may burn and go up in flames - i mean if i go busto off the first $300 that will be embarrassing but wth lets go for it.

Oh and only playing on stars unless a legislation blackout comes in or anything, ftp is rigged so 100% not playing there.

Fwiw I was either going to make this thread, or do a 2000 buyins at $2.20 180s in 31 days prop bet thread ($4.4k) but decided to go with this instead.

I won't be playing till Friday most likely as 3 essays for University due (I study Philosophy), but hopefully will grind a hell of a lot from then.

If you stick to the plan you set out, I think you will have a decent shot at this. It's gonna be tough in the beginning, but 180s are definitely the right place to start.

I am very very against 'rigged' talk and think it is done by foolish players that can't beat the game and are venting.
Thats why for me to then feel for such a long time something just isn't right on ftp and know lots of other regs that feel similar ways, not being able to put our finger on it, but there is just something off.
I know this sounds like a ******ed meh loser rant - but honestly even if I'd won a load the other day in ftops (48k) i'd have still thought it was way off and was planning a post relating to that in the situation.

Anyway enough talk about ftp.

op can you explain the amount of volume/hours/games you'll be playing? how long do you think it is going to take to get to 1500

I thought about that last night, and figured I'd be earning $16 per hour. $1200/16= 75 hours.
I'm hopefull that if I start this Friday 17th I should have $1.5k by Jan 14th, this gives me less hours to play than I would hope to because of xmas - and if the games are jucier as they should be I should be there earlier with any luck.

I'm not like most on this forum, I 20 table TILE as I feel i need to get a read on each table

I agree with you on the FTP count though. Not that it's rigged, but just that something is a little off. I stopped playing there awhile back too.

gl, i am going to do something similar, the only thing i don`t have mtt skills, now I`ll grind 180s and then spend winnings on coaching @MTTs

I think if you are good at 180s its fairly easy to adapt to mtts, in fact I think playing loads of 180s is the best intro to being good at mtts and advise people to start with them.
Then there is just the changing of gears in mtts in regards to bullying a lot more and playing wayyyyy looser when you're deep in mtts because people start nitting it up/getting scared more, so you can abuse ICM way more than in 180s.

I am going to put in my first short session now, probably only 40 or so 180s and 45s, just because I really feel like grinding and I've been tweaking my setup and want to try it out. I will take a few screenshots and upload pics of how I grind in case anyone is interested.
If anyone wants screenshots of filters in stars or any of my tableninja settings etc they're more than welcome to ask for them, I hope to help people as well as attention whore to $100k.

I'm just trying to transition from 9-man's into 180 man's atm, so i'll def be following this thread and hopefully pick up some tips. What kind of monitor set-up do you have to tile 20? Do you have to overlap at all or play with it rediculously small?
