Played some 1/3 NLH yesterday and tried a couple bluffs which I thought was pretty reasonable but ran them into really strong hands so was down another -450.

Not nice to lose again but I was happy with the way I played. Oh well. Hopefully it will turn for the better soon!

Feeling a bit of a sore throat today so drinking heaps of lemon ginger honey. That stuff really works in getting the cold away!

Played a 5.5 hour session 2 nights ago despite having a sore throat, ran super hot at the start and ran not so hot at the end to end the night up 1.4k. I'll take a win like that any day.

My sore throat is gone now and it's Friday night tonight so poker time! Goal is to play solid poker tonight and not give a **** about the results.

so the Friday night session went ok. Tried to pull off a huge bluff with 2-7 off to try to win the $50 bounty on each player but did not manage to. Tried to rep a 1 card straight but the villain tanked called the river with a set. Oh well....

Felt like I was not playing to my best and people were reading my plays really well so left after around 6.5 hours. Ran a little hot at the end of the session to finish up by +100 after tipping the dealer 25. Not very happy with my mental game as I felt that a few occasions I was not playing to my best due to being unhappy about being stuck at some points of the game.

Still a lot of mental work to do here!

so it's been a while since I posted. Been having some health issues with hemorrhoids. So I went to the hospital yesterday and got an inspection and a rubber band ligation done. Holy moly it was so uncomfortable but the nurses were really professional and got everything sorted pretty quickly. It left me with a feeling of wanting to poo all the time. Apparently this is normal and they said it will go away in a couple of days.

I've just been resting at home for the last 2 days and walking around doing light housework. Hopefully I'll get better soon and can get back into the grind.

Played a few sessions before the hospital procedure in the last 2 weeks and results were quite good.

Yeah you would be basically lighting money on fire buying a seat at the $20k

Sounds like you are good enough to beat the games you're playing (at least the home game for sure) so why not just keep doing that?

Yeah I'll keep doing that for sure yup. Not sure if the home game is worth playing anymore. The whales seem to have gone and the rake is too high capped at 50 bucks per hand. So I might grind in the casino more often instead these days. Trying to play some MTTs online as well but just seem to not have the time/patience

Damn... was having a pretty good session of 5/5 NLH yesterday, was up quite a bit, then got dealt Ak. Bet 20 UTG, fold to SB who flats. flopped an AQ6, SB checked, i cbet 20, he calls. turn was an 8 which was pretty good for me. SB checked, i continued for 60, he calls. River as a 9 which gives me the nut flush lol. He led out for 75 into a pot of 200, I re-raised to 375. He thinks about for it a while, re-checks the his cards and announces all in. I was like "ok call i got the nuts". He was like "no you don't". He's got the straight flush with 10j Lol. Ffs

i "raised" 20 utg, not bet

I "raised" to 375 facing his bet, it was not a re-raise because there was not a raise beforehand

On behalf of all of twoplustwo, please atleast try to use correct terminology. Thanks

Played a satellite tournament to a 550 weekend tournament, busted both bullets (can't win a flip to save my life). Then played a 2/5 NLH game which was a good game, and lost another 700, got outplayed once, and just ran into aces another time. Was not a good night

Yessssss!!! So I fired a bullet in the 550 weekend tournament that I failed to satellite in twice for..... and I BINKED IT! Well, to be fair I chopped it with the second place player. It was getting way too late and I had work the next day and I didn't feel like I had an edge against him heads-up so we decided to chop it up for a tidy 8990! Finally, I think my downswing is officially over! Yay!

I've been playing some $0.25 Spin and Gos, and they are surprisingly fun and soft. I will keep playing that and try to rebuild my Stars roll. My Stars results has been absolutely terrible in the past and I really need to improve on that if I am to succeed as a poker player. I will start tracking my STARS results here once I reach $100 bankroll on Stars (it is current at a pitiful $5 LOL).

Damn. Had a short and bad session yesterday. 2 big mistakes that I shouldn't have made.

The first one was betting 3 streets on the button after I raised pre and got 3-betted by SB who is a fish. He check called all 3 streets and called me down on the river with A high. I thought it was a good bluff but it was pretty unnecessary, I think. There should be plenty of other good spots that I could have tried finding.

The second mistake was a bad calldown against a very good villain. I raised with AQ, 3 callers and villain called in SB. Flop came 6JQ rainbow. I c-bet 35, folds to villain who calls. Turn was a 9. He checks and it was at this point I made a big mistake. I should have checked back to pot control. But instead I went for a 75 bet, which turned out to be 95 as I counted it wrong which was another mistake. He check-raised to 300 and I should have folded right there and then as most of his flat call pre ranges have me beat. The only reason was that I thought he could have some Q10 that turns that into a bluff which he's done some times in the past but I'm blocking a lot of that. So it should have been an easy fold...... But I called because I'm terrible and probably slightly tilted from the A-high call down by the fish, and he jammed river for another 535 and I tanked and called. He shows K10 for the nuts.

I was so pissed at myself, and left a few hands after. Was down in the session for 1400

Hopefully by reflecting and writing out my mistakes, I will be able reduce the frequencies of silly mistakes like these in the future! Onward and upward!!!

Haha... I know, trying not to be too hard on myself but it's hard sometimes. Just got to keep learning and improving I guess!

On a separate note, I just got a redundancy notice from my work 3 weeks ago, I have an interview for another job within the same company next Tuesday, if I don't get that job, then I will have no choice but to take redundancy which is quite a good payout (around $38k including my accrued leave). I hope to get the job though!

So yeah the next 2 weeks will be a couple of big weeks for me, then I'll head off to Raro for 1 week break during Easter. Then I'll head over to Melbourne to grind a the Crown Poker Champs series for 9 days. Hoping to play good and run better there !

Hi Samilace, I'll play the main, and the team events and a few other NLH events Are you going too?

Ran quite well in a 0.50/1 PLO game in a PPPoker Club. Made about 350 and then ran well in another 2 super short sessions (less than 1 hour sessions lol) in the casino while waiting for my gf to have dinner. So total up about +660.

I can just imagine you wearing the mask while sitting at the home game. If I were another player there I would wonder why you would put up with it. That is hilarious.

Keep crushing and keep running good. Hopefully you get to stay in the same company, too.

Thanks! It's been a tough few weeks but I am trying my best not to let the emotional swings at work get to me

Haha. I've stopped going to the home games for now. The fish/reg ratio is quite bad now and I just can't stand all the smoking anymore. Felt like I was in a chimney, even my industrial grade RZ Mask did not seem to help much!! The company has been pretty inconsiderate in the re-structure. Keeping me hanging and not telling me the outcome. To be honest, I'm kind of over working for the big corporate. I might just take redundancy and go work for a smaller company or pursue other things (maybe poker).....

I know lots of people say that you need to have a lot more time for poker to be good. Maybe you think that redundancy is an opportunity to play more.

I would say, hang on to your continued and uninterrupted work experience as long as you can. There's a lot of value there.

Before you make the decision to stop working completely, maybe see if you still like poker after a truly long downswing. Everyone I know has gone through them before. It will be a good reality check and will allow you to honestly gauge your interest in the poker life.

You seem like a good guy and you write well. Good luck.

For your own sake, I'd highly suggest not doing this.

That being said, it would sure as hell make for a great pg&c

Thanks bro. Well, my current role has been de-established so if I don't get a job that I want in the company, then I have no choice but to take redundancy I guess. I'm not going to take a job that I don't like/enjoy. No point being miserable for 9 hours a day!
