Started playing in 2005 while in the Army. Got out of the Army and moved to Vegas for a warehouse job. Became good enough to beat 2/5 and a little 5/10 in 2006 and 2007 and thought i was destined to be the next Phil Ivey (spoiler alert....i wasn't). I also played online and was a winner in full-ring 50c/$1 and MTTs over a pretty decent sample (cash was Ihatezmonies on FTP, and MTT's was ahhhhhsht on Pokerstars). Early 2010 i gave up on the dream after being stuck at 2/5 for a couple years, moved from Vegas, got married, couple kids were made, and....

June 2016 i got the itch to play online poker again and deposited 500 on ACR. The plan was to play 25NL 6max and full-ring and kind of re-acclimate and learn on the fly. Instead i dumped 250 within a few sessions bc 1) it's not 2009 anymore, and 2) apparently i wasn't that good in 2009 anyway.

So i then said, "Ah well, i'll just watch some poker on youtube, read 2p2, and play some mtts to see if i can bink something." I binked for 1K, withdrew my 500 deposit, and then broke even forever at 1-3 table sng's until i decided to go hard for the big mtt score and busted everything to broke.

I also play live sometimes and was on an insane heater (won 3 straight 50 person MTT's and 8 straight 1/3 cash sessions for about 5K total profit) in December that instead of treating as a bankroll, i 1) Spoiled the kids even more than usual, 2) Paid for my wife's horrible cat to not die, 3) Paid for the wife and kids to go see her parents a few states away from us.

Shortly after depositing became a pain in the ass bc I'm too dumb and lazy to figure out bitcoin, so i had a buddy transfer me $100 and i donked that off in a few mtt's and 25NL.

So i was considering redepositing and i checked my acct and had $1.96. I decided to see what i could do.

I sat in a 1c/2c game and ran it up to $10.

I have since been on the 1c/2c grind and at my high point was at $40 today.

Currently sitting at $38.74 and I thought i'd start a thread to post some interesting hands on and talk some NLHE strat, while i see if i can beat 1c/2c (or maybe even higher!) 6max NLHE online.

To babble some more....when i dusted off 10 buyins at 25NL and felt completely outclassed, i started watching the 2010-2015 (and then 16) WSOP main events to see how the game was different and see if i could remember some stuff that i may have just forget as far as situational poker.

Believe it or not, it did help, and more importantly it suggested Doug Polk videos which i have learned a significant amount from. Things that probably seem simple, i noticed were big holes in my game now, and even back to 2009.

For example, when i used to think somebody was bluff heavy, i'd raise them off their bluff. But now i see the value in allowing them to bluff (and keeping their middling value hands betting) in some spots. Also i have started 3 betting from the SB A LOT more than i used to and calling from the BB a lot more than i used to.

I continue to watch Doug Polk, The Poker Guys, Tonkaaaa, Andrew Neeme, and a couple others and generally take away a good amount of knowledge that i have applied to my game and i feel i am much better now than ever. Maybe if this starts to progress, i might sign up for Upswing, but as of now, i have not.

I've been crushing live, but am just not comfortable with the financial swings of playing consistently (losing 3-5 buyins at 1/3 stings pretty hard and makes me feel guilty bc I'm taking it from savings) so i've decided to play a few select $300-500 live MTT's throughout the year to see if i can win a bankroll to play live more consistently, and in order to stay fresh and continue working on my game with no real investment (because i just don't feel that comfortable keeping money online....unless it's a total freeroll from this challenge) i've decided to see what i can do here.

I'm not pretending to be very good and am still very much learning, and i appreciate any feedback anybody has on any hands i post.

Here's a nice example of letting the player bluff. The board pairing on the turn is great for our hand obv, and then the river not shipping a spade and the villain betting big'ish on the river than i think most would value bet here made for a pretty easy call with bottom pair.

Woopsy daisy. I've been trying to find some places to turn my worst river hands into bluffs and i guess this wasn't one of them. Though i did go on to stack the guy (and i like to think there is value in letting the rest of the table see this once in awhile).

Last one of today's session. I've been experimenting with floating like this on flops we hit where we have a ton of turn cards that can help us and allow us to raise it strong (a line i'd use similarly with set, two pair, and other strong draws. But i think i might be weighting this line too heavy towards draws than value hands.)

Just under 300 hands today (277). Not many interesting spots, but i ran pretty hot and won 5.47 (plus 21c rakeback baby!).

This hand I wonder if i didn't get full value, but i like to mix in this check raise all in on the river line with missed diamonds too.....so balance?

Good luck! Sounds like coming back to poker after such a long time out was a bit of a shock! My advice to anyone would be to start pretty low, 25nl now will have some fairly solid players in the pool.

Yeah playing 50 NL on WPN is pretty frustrating.

Bad news guys. I sat 2PLO and found out i'm pretty bad at it.

-3.

BR at 44'ish (ACR updating their software now).

I came up with a definitive bankroll plan that i'd imagine I will blow up completely one day when I get sick of grinding micros/tilt/feel like playing a tournament/etc.

2NL $40 - $55 or 0
5NL $55 - $130, drop down to 2NL at $40
10NL $130 - $350, drop down to 5NL at $100
25NL $350 - $650, drop down to 10NL at $200
50NL $750 - $1500, drop down to 25NL at $600
100NL $1500 - $2600, drop down to 50NL at $1200
200NL $2600 - $12,000 GOAL!.

If somehow i hit 12K, i will take 10K off ACR and start a live roll for 1/3 Cash and MTT's ranging from $60 - occasional $365 WSOPC and MSPT events.

I will then drop back down to 50NL and some 100NL shots with the 2K left on ACR and see how high i can go.

It will be interesting to see if i can stay focused to the plan and play/get good enough to keep up the climb. (joining a training site *most likely Upswing* is something i'd def consider if i get stuck at a level, but for now, i want to see if i can do it without a training site.)

I feel pretty tuned in right now, but it might just be the run good of the last 4K hands being up 20 buy ins. (actually less bc i played a few mtt's and won one of those 50c buy in $25 ones for $8).

One reason for optimism is i did this two years ago on Bovada (now Ignition). That time i somehow remembered my log in that i hadn't used since it was Bodog and signed in to see i had $3.50.

I then sat 3, $1.10 sngs and took first in all 3 and went on to run that up playing SNG's and 6max LHE to $1500 which i cashed out and took the family on vacation with. (that was before my wife was working and when i made less money at my job too, so the vacation was nice as it was our first in a couple years at that point).
