Yo. Finally finished my exams. Was going to play today but every time I've come back from a hiatus I haven't played well. Will probs play on Sat/Sun but treating it as warmup (or just go over hands). And then:

April 25th - September 5

30 hours of grinding a week. (30 hours a day, 2 days off a week)
5 hours of study a week.

Holidays:
May 4th - May 11th : Cuba
May 20th - Mayh 23rd: Whistler
June 7th - June 14th: Hawaii

The important thing is, since I'm done school, there are no exceptions this time. There is absolutely no reason for me not to hit my weekly volume goals. Gonna hold myself accountable.

Got over 6 hours so far.

Was going to play first 5 days and take weekend off to pack for Cuba, but decided I'd rather put my volume towards weekend games so going to be playing 6 hours per day for the next 4 days.

Should be able to hit 30 without any problems. First week always hardest.

Looks like a good plan - now comes the hard part which is seeing it through. Keep the effort level up and ultimately the results will follow.

Left my stake after a year, joined another stable. Kinda excited to try something new.

Year has been meh, didn't play that much. I don't expect that to change going forward, will not be putting in too many hours in at my new stake. Was playing 2k on my own dime for a few days, really fun, kinda scary. No more of that now that I'm backed again.

Results Sept 2015 when I started playing 100 to present. Missing 20kish hands.

Obv volume sucks, hope ur getting at least 80-85% of profits nevertheless in your staking deal (assuming no coaching and ur backers have leverage vs u scamming them). +- 5% depending how much NL1k u are allowed.

Haha thanks. I'm getting less than 80%...I've been looking for an 80% deal for awhile but hard to find. So I decided to own dime and then I changed my mind again. I assume your CFP program is still doing well?

I did apply for CFP at one point...It's awhile back so I don't remember what happened but this might have been the case, who knows

My goals are bigger, i don't need 30k from him unless he's gonna benefit at least that much or more. It wasn't a given or at least very good chance to double his win rate... and well, besides his low volume he is doing very well

No, if i do something, then right and big.
Haven't seen any staking ops doing very well and most players overestimate their skills.

I don't think it's a good business to be in. I sometimes stake very trusted CFP guys for tournies, but it's more of a fun thing and i never negotiate about rates.

Staking in cash games shouldn't happen since bankroll is pretty much a non-issue. You're a rare guy that's obviously +EV to stake (from what is known), but in theory you shouldn't even seek a stake.

I mean, CFP is staking in a way, it makes more sense to me because everybody has beef in the game at all time and i know that with good skill you can have an impact.

The only place where staking makes sense is high variance stuff like MTT and SNGs. And once a player is in makeup, you need a super strong character in a player. I've seen few of them in poker. But i don't keep up with news in that segment, so who knows...i'm just highly sceptical.

So any stable that's winning money without coaching and with having a true hourly above 75Euro/hour, respect.
Haven't seen, we'll likely never see it since people love fooling themselves. Poker players are usually terrible managers and a stable needs that above all.

I was pretty much exactly in OP's shoes until two or three years ago. Stayed staked and played very low volume while sporting a double digit winrate for a few years at MSNL, inculding some softer sites ofc. School full time, yada yada.

Looking back it's clear I was just a ****** and didn't take the money making opportunity seriously, but I did some of the things OP has described. If I made 15k the first week there was a good chance I'd just dick around and go hang out with friends for the rest of the month to "lock it up" until the profit chop. I also locked up a lot of the money coming out of poker into material things, something I couldn't have done in the short term if I needed it for my bankroll. I took long breaks, sometimes for a month, sometimes for much longer.

In some ways I probably just wanted to stay in touch with my people who were sort of part coaches part backers. They were the best skill wise, and more importantly most fun people I had found in poker and I think I felt like our relationship would disappear if we weren't connected through this stake. Making them happy was probably a bigger motivation for me than I realized.

Anyway, all of these things I didn't really see clearly at the time and if I could go back I would make sure to build a very very strong MSNL+ roll for my long term future. The equation of putting your earnings into real life stuff and and having a hard time getting hands in means you can do really well without having much to show for it in the long term. I just returned from a 18 month hiatus where I finished up school in a focused way and did some travelling, and now I'm relatively broke and playing some SSNL if I get the itch. Don't be me OP, be smart if you want to make the most of this in the long haul
