Yea exactly like adversity says.
Setting a daily total BI is the best way to estimate how much you earn. I personally couldn't care less about hourly since I like playing poker and whether I work 7 or 10 hours really doesn't bother me enough to change my schedule. Therefore I decide how much $ I want to earn per day, and put in the volume accordingly.

Looking at it this way is more relaxing for me + it helps me lower the variance, since turbo's generally yield a higher hourly in return for a lower winrate.

Sure, guess we just have a different view on how to setup our grinds/schedules, but whatever works for you. Gl to you! Doing a PG&C myself this year, feel free to jump in!

Yea, gl to your challenge too man, sub'd!

I played 25/50's for the most part when I was 17.

Pretty ****ty day today, by far the biggest losing day, bricked almost everything, ft'd the 11 2r1a in the end but came in 8th for only $75.

Day 10 (26/01)
Total winnings: - $651
Personal winnings: -$470

New roll: $5200
Current ROI: 29.9%
Total winnings 2016: $2234

Bought in for 907.62 today (of which ~660 is mine), so at least my EV is good. Also played pretty well, so I'm happy despite my results.
Will however have to drop 27's again, and only sell action for mtt's up to 44$ because brm.

Do you find the grind less exhausting than when playing spins/hypers? I haven't played mtts for a long time, can imagine even with the extra tables the focus isn't as direct.
18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote

Yes and no.
Spins/hypers are definitely more intense, 8-10 hour sessions would be impossible in those for me, which is part of the reason why I never made my volume goals when I played them.
However as far as fatigue physically I find mtt's far more exhausting. Long days, worse times, less flexibility etc. Makes having a good nights sleep harder & caffeine pills more of a requirement.

Still definitely worth it for me however, it's so much easier to get volume in this way. Also easier to keep motivation when at the end of the week you're happy to have 2 days off, and Monday morning you're excited to be able to play again.

Yea sounds good, sent you a pm!

Pretty decent day today, couple of deep runs including a 13th place in the big 25 on .fr & a 3rd place in the 11 1ra for 418$.
Biggest cashes came from the tourneys which I sold % for, so my winnings are up but my roll stays practically the same.

Day 12 (28/01)
Total winnings: +$154
Personal winnings: +$3

New roll: $5203
Total winnings 2016: $2388

Not sure why but sharkscope and PT4 give different roi's (10% off), it seems like PT4 is missing some games so I'm gonna go with the SS one which is 39.5%

Tomorrow will be the last day of January that I'm playing since I'm taking the weekend off, so in order to reach my goals I only need to add 10.5% to my roi, easy game

Thanks guys!

Bangkok has been amazing so far. I've mainly been in the areas around me since I got here, but it's really great. Only thing that's been a bit hard is getting up at 4am, but the heat in the afternoon makes napping more attractive. Definitely happy with coming here so far.

OP you plan to sray in BKK the whole time or you'll visit islands down south or hippies up north?
18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote
01-28-2016 , 10:48 PM
Haha I will definitely check out both cm and the islands sometime. Doubt I'd ever move to the north but I might consider getting a place near the beach sometime.

Just came in 4th in a 27tko for $1250, so I might just get my 50% roi back

gg

you didnt sold share?
18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote
01-29-2016 , 10:57 AM
I did sell shares actually since it's outside of my roll, so had to split it but wouldn't have played it otherwise. Quite happy with the decision to sell %.

Soo besides the 4th place today I bricked everything else, however I'm still up a decent amount.
As far as my ROI goes, It's currently 48%, so I will check that one off my list as a succes

Day 13 (29/01)
Total winnings: +$721
Personal winnings: +$294

New roll: $5497
Total winnings 2016: $3174

So I've decided to take out 1/3rd of my monthly profits out of my roll at the end of each month. This for the purpose of both my life roll growing, and me not moving up too fast when I go on a heater.
When I move up in stakes and moving up becomes less and less important I might increase this amount to 1/2 or even 2/3rd of my roll, but that's still miles away.

For this month I'll take out 397$ , leaving me with 5100$ in my bankroll.

My January goals were:

[x ] Buy-in for 2000$ per week minimum.
[x ] Keep my ROI over 50%
[ x] Grind 5 days per week, not more & not less
[ x] Start grinding between 7-8AM.
[ ] Find a local gym and go 3 times per week.

Exceeded my total buyin by quite a bit, especially this week, so happy about that for sure. Also definitely can't complain about my ROI, especially sinds my abi went up this last week.
Only missed one day of grinding, and I made up for it quite well later in the week, so given that I was simply too tired to play I can check that one off too.

When I started I was worried about not being able to get up early enough to start playing at 7, but I actually managed to start playing before 5/6 most days, so that's definitely a good personal accomplishment.
I've always told myself and others (teachers, parents etc.) that I'm not a morning person and that getting up before 10 is impossible for me. I stuck to that for a couple of years, and looking back at it that's simply a matter of immaturity from my part. So I'm quite happy to see that I'm not only improving as a poker player, but also growing as a person.

Last on the list is the gym, I've found a gym a ~10 minute walk away from me, but haven't really managed to go yet. My days have roughly been like this:

04:00 - Wake up, go to 7/11 for breakfast, shower etc.
04:45 - start grinding
13:00 - Ending session somewhere around this time, get some food and relax a little.
15:00 - take a 2-4 hour nap.
19:00 - get some dinner, then social stuff / studying poker.
23:00 - go to bed

It's just hard to fit in the gym somewhere around there, so I might start doing it in the weekends and find one evening for it during the week.
On the bright side, I gained 3 kilo's these last 2 weeks (I'm really quite skinny so I've been trying to gain some weight recently, while still eating 'healthy') and I did manage to do a small home work-out almost everyday. It's not the same as going to the gym but it's better than nothing.

So all together really happy with this past month, and also still really happy with the move. Also great to see that I've achieved most my monthly & weekly goals these first 3 weeks, since last year I only achieved my weekly goals 4 times in total, over the course of 6 months.

Febuary goals

[ ] Buy-in for $3000 per week
[ ] Play 5 days per week, exception for the week around my birthday
[ ] Keep ROI around 50%
[ ] Sell % every grind-day
[ ] Start doing some sports. Whether is tennis, the gym, golf, etc. Just get out and use my body in more places than my bed.
[ ] Weigh at least 63 kilo's while still eating healthy (currently 58).

Not sure how realistic/easy gaining 5 kilo's in a month is, since I know very little about this stuff. But if anyone has any advice on this please let me know.

The update has become a bit longer than I expected so I'll just finish it up with a little graph:

$ profit needed for goal: $96,826

hey man, nice blog here.

would like to give u some tips about gaining some weight.
why do you want to gain 5 kilos in only one month? its possible for sure, but then u can be sure that these 5 kilos are only fat, especially when u dont workout at the same time.
i would recomend you to start doing some weight training (gym, or at home with bodyweight exercises), continue to eat healthy (add more protein and one extra meal (mainly some carbs) a day to gain some weight). a goal could be to gain about 1-2 kilos a month, so you get mostly "clean" weight on your ribs and not 5 kilos pure fat

by the way: weight training, some running, or tennis is always great for your boddy, especially when u are a poker player, who mainly sits in front of a screen the whole day.

hope this helps u a bit and good luck with your goals!!

Yea it was (:

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated! Didn't know how realistic 5kg was but given your response its quite unlikely. Even tho a little fat wouldnt hurt me, id rather stay skinny than get fat however.

I'll follow up your advice and see how it works. My old roommate already told me to eat every 3 hours so I'll focus on doing that again too.
