To avoid confusion, pills arent some crazy drugs or something. Just smartcaffeine (googleable). Know plenty of mtt players that use it and theyre harmless, afaik like coffee/redbull but healthier. One or two of them can definitely increase focus for many hours / increase session length.

Almost sounds like hidden advertizing lol

Yea that's why I'm staying far away from those pharmaceutical pills.

Had a decent session today, played really well imo, probably the best session of the year in terms of focus and how I played. evBB/100 was ok aswell (12).

Had a 13th place in a 11$ turbo (AQ<AA) which sucked & a 4th place in a 35$ deep on 888. Still can't seem to close a big winnign day to turn around my downswing.

Got in a decent amount of games too even tho I started past 8 (I reg until 11:30). If I play 3 big nightly sessions per week (40+ games) I'll be fine with putting 2 extra morning sessions in (~30 games).

PT4 is way off everyday for some reason & SS doesn't update until after all tourneys are over so I'll just count my roll for updates lol.

Will do some studying this afternoon and try to get a nap in. Then tonight I'll grind again once I get home from the movies.

caffeine pills are good. I can't fathom how somebody puts a ton of odd tasting stuff paired with a huge amount of sugar into their body to get "awake" i.e. RedBull, heck I don't even like coffee.

But paying like 2€ for a can of redbull that has as much caffeine as half a caffeine-pill worth 20cent surely must be +EV.
18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote
02-26-2016 , 09:58 AM
Yea agreed, I used to consume redbull almost daily but you simply cant feel good when doing so since it's like the nut worst thing to drink in terms of health. Also you get the whole sugar-rush and crash which you dont get with the pills. Also saves a ton of money obv.

Am I the only one who always feels like sh*t after napping? The thought of getting an hour of sleep in when you missed out on sleep a bit seems like a good idea. However 80% of the times I take a nap I feel nauseous and sick when I wake up. So I spend the next 1-2 hours feeling like crap, which makes me think I should stop napping all together. Just stay awake and get some more sleep at night. If anyone knows how to not feel sick after sleeping id love to hear it.

On a brigther note, found out that there's a big market 100 meters behind 7/11. They have anything from pad thai to sushi to western snackbar meals, besides that a ton of fresh fruit etc. All dirt cheap ofcourse (most meals are like 20-30 baht, 0.50-0.75$).
My diet has been way worse than I want it to be. On weekends / days off I eat out which is sweet, but on grinding days ive just been eating a sh*tload of 7/11 meals and the one meal my gf brings in when she comes home from work. Ordering food while playing poker doesnt work since the delivery guys never speak english so cant tell them to come upstairs to my room, they end up staying in the lobby which means I have to sitout to get my food.
So yea finding out about this market is pretty sweet and should make life a lot better.

20-30 bath meals + fresh food, wow. Maybe BKK really is the cheaper place to live in SEA.

Usually when I take nap because I lack of sleep I feel exactly like you and most of the time I end up sleeping more because I just feel like ****. But when I have proper amount of sleep an I take a mid-day nap as an extra, it just feel super great.

Yeah maybe your body is like "ah, finally the sleep I need now after sleeping not enough last time" and then it goes like "oh fu"

but when you are well rested your body is like "I do a quick power nap right now for 30 minutes"

Do you exercise at all op? Eating clean, lifting weights and the occasional run keeps me physically and mentally fit. It makes a huge difference for my poker game, especially live MTT's but online as well.
18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote
02-27-2016 , 02:33 AM
Yea I feel like it can really be as cheap as you want it to be. Personally I'd rather spend a bit more and eat better tasting / healthier food, however this is probably not only the cheapest, but also the best option for food so that's sweet.

Uhrenknechts explanation makes it pretty clear to me , will avoid a short nap when I feel tired already and just make sure I get some longer sleep in.

As for exercise, I really want to but I'm such a lazy c*nt when it comes to non-poker related things. Don't get me wrong I do workout occasionally but it's rarely more than 1/2 per week, even tho someone in my shoe's can easily do it 4/5 per week.
I have to figure out a way to find motivation but it's hard to find when I already feel good and skipping the gym doesn't feel like a big deal (sure I'm really skinny but then again it's not like I feel bad about my body).

So yesterday I had an average session, played pretty well overall but far from the best poker I ever played.
Finally got to a bigger final table (11 1r1a, 1.9k on top), but busted in 9th place even tho I started it 5/9. Made a play that I thought was standard but after talking about it with my coach I found out that it's a massive ICM mistake. Lately I've busted a lot of deepruns due to bad beats and that's really easy to deal with, I just go to bed and forget about it. However finding out that I made a mistake that potentially cost me 100's of dollars bothers me a lot more.
I have high expectations of myself (lol_threadtitle), so don't like making mistakes at all. Then again I just have to realise that I've potentially discovered a massive leak in my game and I now have the opportunity to fix it so it's probably a good thing. Expecting to never make any major mistakes with the knowledge I currently have of the game is just unrealistic.

Thanks!

Played two solid nightly sessions (sunday & monday), PT4 is a mess like always so I'll combine the two sessions in my results.
ABI was around 20 and I played 40 games both days. Pretty happy with a 800 total bi right now.

As far as results go I'm still losing unfortunately, been playing pretty well but nothing seems to be going my way.
I bubbled a ft in a 22$ yesterday, also came in 6th in a deepstack on 888 with 1.2k on top where I got 2-outered on the river.
Besides those a ton of deep runs but I'm still losing all the important pots.

My evbb/100 has been around breakeven (slightly above), but I'm not too worried about it. Pretty sure I'm not playing worse than I did the first 1.5month of the year, if anything I'm playing better. In husng's having a BE ev-line was often considered to be good in a big downswing so I'll just grind it out and see what my ev looks like in another 20-30k hands.

Day 29/30 (28/02-29/02)

Total winnings: - $528

Needed for APPT: $23.477

Total winnings 2016: $1523

The rest of the week I'll be playing morning sessions again in order to keep the variance a bit lower, would be nice to make up some ground to get back in the black again.

Febuary goals

[x] Buy-in for $3000 per week
Pretty much crushed this thanks to higher stakes the first 2 weeks and then joining the stable. Total ev makes for a pretty decent salary.
[x ] Play 5 days per week, exception for the week around my birthday
Did pretty well at this, I feel like I've played
[ ] Keep ROI around 50%
Clearly this one failed miserably. ROI went down big time over the last 2 weeks, but can't really feel bad about something that's out of my control.
[x ] Sell % every grind-day
Did that until I joined the stable.

[ ] Start doing some sports. Whether is tennis, the gym, golf, etc. Just get out and use my body in more places than my bed.

[ ] Weigh at least 63 kilo's while still eating healthy (currently 58).

The non-poker goals failed pretty miserably. Worked out like 6-8 times over the whole month, didn't do any sports.
It's definitely a leak of mine that I forget about 'living' in a downswing, I really want to grind out of it and I should probably focus more on balancing my life like I do when I run good.
haven't gained any weight either so yea, been standing pretty still on that aspect

March goals

[ ] Play 750 games
[ ] Don't play when I'm too tired / don't feel like playing. Always be in a good state of mind when grinding.
[ ] Balance life, go outside and do stuff even when I'm running bad.
[ ] Get an over 2.5k score (biggest cash thus far is 2.2k).
[ ] total an evBB/100 of over 12 overall.

Coinflipper, feedback is always so good so I would love to hear what you consider to be leaks.

I could see how 750 games isn't that much considering variance, however why would having a backer have anything to do with it? Surely if we just look at EV 750 games at my current stake is 750 * 18 = 13.500 . Let's assume a 33% ROI that'd be $4500 per month. Ofcourse a big part of that goes to the backer but It's still a pretty decent monthly ev, and it should only go up as I move up in stakes. 750 is my Minimum goal tho.

Another disappointing day results-wise: Plenty of deep runs including 16th place in a 11r & a 27 TKO ft, busted 9th however (came in with 5bb and had to jam my last 3bb with A7s < ATo). Just give me a break already

Analysed my play yesterday and noticed me missing on a couple potential open/3b spots, went into my DB and found out that my VPIP/PFR/3B dropped significantly in almost every position (just not MP) over the last 2 weeks compared to before I joined the stable.
The positions where I made significantly less bb/100 were BTN & CO. The latter one being most significant, and it's also the one were I nitted up the most so I feel like I might've spotted a big leak. Ofcourse it could also just be variance since CO/BTN are the spots you play the most.

Not sure why I made these changes, just glad I spotted them.

However I played significantly looser / more aggressive today and it seemed to have a positive effect on my results. My bb/100 today was 16 so I hope I can keep this going the right way.

Tyty,

Oh I've tried that trust me. Cash really never was my thing, grinded it for short times, beat 25nl but never really went beyond that.
As my op stated I come from husng's/spins. The latter one being the highest variance game around and the first one almost has a guarantee of no losing months.
Even tho I did pretty good in husng's, they really get boring soon and there's a lot of waiting/politics at higher stakes, making it really really hard to actually put up great numbers.

Sweet thing about mtt's is that it's always something different, there's a massive rec pool and even if you're not a highstakes player there's still always a chance of a really big score.

So pretty stoked to finally have a winning session today, however after the ship the variance got the best of me again.

The second session of the day thing is actually pretty sweet. Get up in the morning without setting an alarm, playing roughly 30 games with an abi of ~16. Then in the evening I play a shorter session with ~20 games and an abi of ~19.
50 games/day is pretty sweet for non-night grinding days so I might do this a bit more often, will really just do what I feel like every day since that seems to pay off.
