Soo been a quiet couple of days. Was still a bit under the weather yesterday but by now I feel fit again and ready to play, so I will celebrate my 19th birthday with a nice little session tonight.

As for this week I'm disappointed that I didn't get to play really, however my volume on sunday was great and I played 2 small turbo session's while recovering, so I think I'll still get near my average volume if not over after tonight's session.

Also I had my first group & 1:1 coaching session in the stable last night, been a while since I had 1:1 coaching and it's good to finally have someone point out some of my leaks again.
Wanted to play a night-session right after but even tho I had 2 mobile hotspots & the apt wifi available, none of them seemed to work on my laptop so I had to pass.

Put the two turbo sessions together under 1 day:

Day 23 (18/02)
Total winnings: + $273

Total winnings 2016: $2878

As you can see my total winnings dropped a bit, apparently I lost quite a bit more than I initially thought on Tuesday before I got sick. Don't know how I managed to be 400$ off when I wrote my results here, but it must have been due to the fact that I was bent over the toilet

Since I spent most of this week feeling sh*t in my apartment and my birthday is today I'll head to the beach at pattaya/koh larn tomorrow for 1 or 2 days to relax and reset for next week. When I come back I'll do nothing but grinding, eating & sleeping until next weekend in order to get some better febuary results and get more volume in.

Another disappointing session today.
Felt like I played extremely well, also feel like looking to avoid certain mistakes I previously made makes me think more actively overall. However even when you play great you can still run like total garbage, and I couldn't win a single hand that mattered today. Came in 8th in a 22$ 6m on party and 9th in a 30$ 6m on 888. Also came in 15th in two other 22$ fo's on party, all for neglectable amounts however.

Feel like I should definitely stay away from 12-tabling for now tho. I start auto-piloting a bit too much to my liking when I get over 10 tables, enjoy the game a lot more with 6-10 tables going so until I improve I'll stick with that.

Day 24 (19/02)
Total winnings: - $278

Total winnings 2016: $2500

Moved backwards quite hard this week, however I'm sure It'll turn around sometime soon.

Yeah, the sweet spot is always somewhere else somehow. I started with classic 1 tables, then 2,3, 4 - later 6 on a bigger monitor, then 12 on two monitors, got armstrain from moving mouse too much, upgraded to 24 tables stacked played with gamepad and now I'm on gamepad with 12 tables on one monitor in 6 slots stacked twice.

still don't know which is best

It's been a couple days since my last update so time for a new post.

Came back yesterday night from Pattaya, my gf had a day off yesterday so we decided to stay an extra day which means I missed the sunday grind.
Was completely worth it however since it was really amazing, weather was really great (Not as hot as Bangkok) and so was everything else really. Probably the best trip I've been on in a long time. Makes me reconsider moving to the beach sometime in the future, altho it wouldn't be Pattaya since it's too easy to degen and way too touristy to live for me.

Was really motivated to play when I got home but absolutely exhausted, had a group-coaching session at 2am last night and I put my alarm 30 minutes before. Planned to attend the coaching and grind afterwards but I was way too tired, managed to stay awake throughout the coaching and went to sleep right after. Then at 6:30 my gf woke me up when she got up for work & again I considered playing, figured another hour of sleep or two would do me well and ended waking up 6 hours later, lol. Guess I really needed some sleep.

Just went out and finally bought myself a chair, took me two weeks, cost me 4 hours tho since the Mall was 20km away and massive. Most of the stores wouldn't sell office chairs if I bought less than 3/5 and the others would take 2 weeks to deliver or were really expensive. Ended up buying a really simple deskchair and I guess I'll upgrade it after I start winning a bit again.

However it's almost 7 now and I still haven't been able to start grinding. Will go get some food and spend some time with the gf when she gets off work and then do a nightly grind today, will start around 11pm and make it a big session.

Will focus a lot on maximizing EV for now which also means I'll be playing 8 tables, 10 if I feel really good about myself. Besides that I'll be focussing on being in a good state of mind while playing. Some of my biggest losing sessions were definitely due to me being way too tired to sleep or not being focused. For now I'd rather miss out on a session than to play in a bad state of mind, when I'm playing well I'll make sure to play extra long sessions in order to still get good volume in.

Definitely feel like trips like this are the best motivation for me since it makes me realise what I'm doing it all for & how sweet it is to be able to make a living off of poker. Really buzzing to play again and I feel like this week is going to be a big one.

New Sub-Challenge

Also seeing a lot of stuff about EPT Dublin / hearing from friends who play live definitely makes me want to play some live poker again. Poker is illegal in Thailand however & Europe isn't worth the trip in terms of EV since I'm obviously not going to play 5k events.
In asia the only real options are Korea, Macau & Manilla for tournaments afaik. Korea has very few tourney's & Macau is only for 21 and up meaning that Manilla is the only good option left (basing this on the schedules on GPI). From May 14-22 there's the APT experience which seems to be the best option for me, next one being APPT 10 in summer.

Therefore I'll make a small side-challenge, if I win $10.000 before the 1st of may, I'll make the trip and play the ME (1150$) + some possible side-events.
18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote

You'll need to bing that APT ME to reach your yearly 100k

Just kidding, still 10 months left you can do it. Also you should focus more on appreciating life, like this trip in Pattaya, than going crazy with works. Now you learned that if you are too tired skipping a session is +EV, that's a good thing.
18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote
02-23-2016 , 09:29 PM
Haha it would greatly help for sure :P

And yea for sure, life EV + feeling good > putting in volume like crazy, especially for me at this point. I've talked about this with my coach a fair bit the other day and came to the conclusion that ev now isn't really worth that much, however if I make sure to crush the games that I play, I can move up in no time and put the bigger volume in / focus more on hourly when it matters more (hopefully in a couple of months). For now it's all about crushing these stakes as hard as I can.

A friend of mine pointed out that last years scoop was 10-24 may, I really hope that the APT won't be right in the middle of scoop this year since I'd probably have to cancel it then. If that's the case I'll probably double the $ goal and play the $2.5k me of the APPT in july.

Made a step in the right direction today. Ev was pretty sh*t all throughout the first 2k hands, but it whent straight up in the last 500 hands so I still ended with a positive ev, however since I joined the stable it's been lower than I'm aiming for. Feel like I played significantly better the last 3 hours since I was probably more focused due to being at a final table of the $25 deep on 888.
Ended up shipping the said tournament for 835$ which is pretty sweet. Besides that one I also came in 17th in the 30$ swordfish on 888, bricked basically everything else.
Total of the day was $475, so that clears more than half of my make-up, will get rid of the rest tonight

Day 25 (23/02)

Total winnings: + 475

Needed for APT: $9525
Total winnings 2016: $2975

will play throughout the night again today and tomorrow, on friday I will start at 16:00 and finish up around midnight. As for the upcoming weeks I'm planning to stick to this schedule since it gives me more rest than my current 'grind every morning' one. It should also yield a higher EV.

Sunday: 23:00 - 09:00
Monday: 23:30 - 08:00
Wednesday: 05:30 - 13:00

If coaching on thursday:
Thursday: 22:00 - 08:00
Friday: 16:00 - 00:00

If no coaching on thursday:

given Bangkok's timezone and my experiences from living there last year i feel its better to grind from 8pm and through the night rather than get up early and grind through the day, given that your playing poker for a living and dont have a side job. Just my 2cents, but keep up the good work.

You are right, seems more easy to me to do that than to get up early everyday. But not everyone are noght owl.

Also, I agree its more EV to play the scoop than go to APT.

I'm in Korea and yeah MTT series are pretty scarce it seems. However, APT Daegu will be an absolute goldmine. Everyone I've seen who plays poker is a goofball. That'll only amplify in MTTs. I'd probably conisder at the very least APPT in July. It's in Seoul so you can make a great trip of it too. Daegu is a dump so you'd probably just go for the poker.

Actually I much prefer the night, I just figured day-grinding might be better so I dont sleep all day. In the end having a flexible schedule seems by far the best, Ill use the one I posted yesterday as a guideline but really just decide every day for itself.

Thanks for the tip egption, i will for sure also consider seoul. Unfortunately daegu is in a month already so thats simply too early, however been to seoul once and loved it so will consider it for sure. Probably going to have to end up choosing between manilla and seoul, playing both is a bit too much unless I go on a heater.

Buhh little frustrated since today's session was pretty bad, had a couple deep runs but they all bricked. The amount of times I got rivered today is insane, not sure if theres a filter for it in PT4 but would love to see it.

Last mtt I had left that I 1-tabled for like 2-hours. Was 1/30 with a pretty decent chiplead and then this happened:

Losing so much $ev by getting these suckouts everytime I get deep in bigger mtt's, guess I'll just have to grind it out.
Don't like crying about bad beats but I'm tilted since I just finished, my internet is sh*t and it's 9am so I'll give myself a freepass today.

On a brighter note, played 41 tourney's while 8-tabling, 80% of them being non-turbo's so I'm pretty happy with that. Also feel like I played really well (altho my ev/bb was only 7), so I feel pretty confident about my game right now.

Day 25 (23/02)

Total winnings: -404

Total winnings 2016: $2571

As you can see I changed the APT to APPT since I just read in the SCOOP thread that it's 95% sure scoop will be May 8-22 (great timing ).

Will play appt manilla if my year total totals 25k on or before the 10th of july. If I reach the goal before june 1st I'll consider APPT seoul instead (or maybe both).

Scoop is so overrated anyway. Huge variance for not that much more ev, only a couple nice extra mtts a day in your buyin range with huge fields and the other mtts are more regfilled.

Scoop is incredible and the rest of the Mtts get boosted significantly because of it. Probably the only 2 weeks u shouldn't miss each year if u are an mtt pro. Scoop is the best thing on stars because wcoop prices out lots of players with its new huge buyins and tcoop is essentially aids. So yeh prepare well for scoop and make sure ur fresh and in the right frame of mind for those 2 weeks. In Bangkok myself right now for a bit of a holiday and did a fitness course in Chiangmai. Heading back tomorrow tho. Gl mate and hopefully catch u for a drink next time I'm in town.

Well first of all scoop is just a great excuse to motivate myself to play 12/14 days and go a bit nuts in terms of sessions.
Wouldnt play the low and eventual mid events for the fame since the fields are so big, the shots on big cashes are way more important to me. However are you sure the other fields are that much reg heavier? Seems hard to believe that say a b55 suddenly has a higher reg:rec ratio now that theres so many more recs playing and only 3/4 more tourneys per day. Then again ive never seriously grinded the scoop before so if im wrong please let me know.

@transcendence sure hit me up if youre in bkk again!

Seems like I might have to skip out on tonights session again. Couldnt get to sleep until around 12 and then my gf woke me up at 2 since she got off work early, she brought a bunch of food so I got out of bed to eat, so now my chances of sleeping are basically f*cked.

Bit frustrated that Ive been missing out on so many sessions lately. Sure the reasons seem justifiable to me everytime but I feel like I should stop finding excuses and just sit my ass down to play.

Have been having trouble getting in good sleep lately however. My ever changing sleeping schedule & my girlfriend staying over practically every night are definitely putting me off. Might also have to try and stop using caffeine pills, however I feel like they increase my focus by like 200%.

If I still get a couple of hours in somehow I'll yolo tonight's session, but im anything but sleepy right now. Guess Ill put in a long session tomorrow if I fail tonight.

18 year old making 0k in Thailand Quote

Well that's the thing, I held a nightly schedule this week. Then something happens during the day so i cant sleep and my whole schedule falls apart. Still a part of me wants to start playing right now (11pm), but Ive had 2 hours of sleep since I got up at 5 in the afternoon yesterday, so even with a couple of pills it doesnt seem like a good idea.

As for the fixed schedule, any fixed schedule sucks.
If I play every night I basically have to sleep every day during the week, if I dont, it messes up my schedule.
If I play in the morning I will undoubtebly get tired at some point during the week and either play worse or be forced to sleep in.

Last option would be to grind in the evenings, say 17:00-01:00, however this would mean I have a lot less volume and too much freetime during the day when I can't do sh*t. Sure I can workout and study poker but I cant do that all day every day, plus I value some social contact/banging. Also higher stakes really dont run during the evening (eu time id reg 11-16), so I would be forced to change it sometime in the future anyway.

Seems like the best way to go is to take it day by day, start off the week by a night-session on sunday and see how it goes. If I miss volume I guess ill have to cringe and play in the weekend.

Off to bed now and Ill start grinding as soon as I woke up (6:30 at the latest since thats when my gf gets up for work), will nap in the afternoon and spend my friday night grinding.
