waiting on a 27 player SNG top 10 get paid just played a 3.30 triple up had a dominate chip lead with 5 players left got a couple bad beats bust out on the bubble.... so freaking disappointing, if this doesn't go well may have to make a deposit, having such a horrible week, I make back some of my looses and get a little bit of a BR then something happens and I just loose it all, looked at some HH found a leak or two. Waiting for 13 players so this can start
bovada SNG reg here. started at 3.3 got up to $14's. planning on going to cash when I'm rolled for 100nl. but SNG variance can be frustrating. I lost 13/15 getting rivered n just not holding up in all in situation. I have lost 8-10 straight or gone like 1/12 and am still comfortably up. just move down if need be and don't break things. seriously tho they are good to build BR but downswings in SNG hurt more than cash IMO.
just keep head up. downswings build character. if u can conquer the mental torture u can do anything
I am sorry to tell you, but what you are experiencing is variance. In poker there can be massive swings, depending on what kind of games you play. You losing is not necessarily caused by you playing bad or whether there are more regs or whatever. In your position I would reccomend looking into training sites and spend some time thinking about what the best route is that you can take in terms of games/sites to play on.
I myself was in your position and I got good at 180 mans by studying through training sites and was quickly averaging 3-5k a month + occasional mtt binks for more.
So just keep studying and find out what is best for you at this time.
Well I broke my BR tonight on an all in call with AsQs I was beat on the river by a guy who called with Q3 off, the board consisted of a Q high and no draws, he hit his 3 on the river, talk about a bad player hitting a lucky card. I'm gonna study tonight at work, take tomorrow off from play maybe study some, then monday morning it's game on, depositing 25.00 because that's all I can afford till pay day, honeslty I'm just gonna work on building my BR on monday and tuesday (my days off) I'm gonna grind some micro cash and SNG, nothing more than 2.50 cash buy in or 2.20 SNG buy in. I've also teamed up with a very successful 2p2 player who is gonna give me some coaching on a few hands during these two days.
Thanks for the words of encouragement I know this is just variance but sadly right now I don't have the BR to put up with it.
My plan to avoid having to make another deposit is this.
deposit 25.00
grind it up to 100 playing micros
Max cash buy in 2.50
max SNG buy in 1.10 maybe a few 2.20
Learn how to play SNG n build. Noone is coming up from 5nl. Especially if u play bovada u won't get enough volume, plus the rake will eat u. SNG are lowest variance (though at times doesn't seem like it) but stick to one thing man. U need to get better. Poker isn't a get rich scheme. It will take blood sweat tears. U will consider quitting and question everything about this game. U will run worse than u ever have before, and tgen u will run worse than that. U will downswing at WORST possible times.
**** isn't easy. U can't beat SNG for 2 days and $50 and think it a SNG crushed. Review hands. Get better. But jumping around between cash n SNG hoping to hit a heater isn't gonna work
Not tryna b rude, but I concerned u had 2 days of profit n now wondering if Ames just have more regs. No you are just not good enuf yet. But quicker u realize it and f t blame variance or wutever u will improve. If u are crushing assume u are lucky. And wen ur in a downswing assume it's u that sucks. IDC if u lose set over set 6 times. Review it HH and find mistakes. Always assume it's u that suck, and always get better. These micro sng on bovada are hella soft. Put in work
So I ask is there any shame folding your way to the money?
There is actually a formula to use in determing when it is the right move and I think David Sklansky has written on it but darned if I can remember it.
Oh yeah guys I know I suck, no question there. I am constantly striving to get betterand to improve my game. I am hoping to be playing full time by spring, I know it's a tough goal with a high chance of failure and me going totally broke but poker is what I enjoy. For those of you who may question my work ethic I feel I may need to provide a bit more back ground.
I am aproaching the end of my 6 year military contract, during this time I have completed a deployment to Afghanistan and volunteered for many others. Also during 2006-2009 I play division 3 paintball and worked up to playing proffessional. I also was offered a scholarship to play football at peru state college when I returned from Afghanistan but due to back injuries I got while deployed had to abandon that dream, this is also the reason why I have only had short stints returning to pro paitball. I have the work ethic I know what it takes to excel at something and be amgonst the best, I've done it before and I will do it again.
Yeah I'm doing the best I can got another SNG starting soon depending on how this one goes I might take a break swing by my buddies bar watch the end of MNF and have a beer or two and see how I feel about playing after. Gonna be hard to put in 32 hours of play these next couple of days if I can't make any money while doing it
Don't worry about money. Itl make u play bad bc you are losing and feel entitled. Just make right decisions. Study after sessions. U have too know if you are making correct plays. U can get holdemrecources (it's an icm program) for two week free trial.
In these micro games ur edge will b MAKING IT TO and developing n using edge ON BUBBLE. Variance will always b there, but if u choose to play poker ten u must accept it or quit. Downswings shud inspire u to pick ur game apart. Dnt complain how unlucky u are, put in work, do ICM, apply it to player ranges. Profit
