1 Month Test Goal 1 Month Test Goal

Hello to all the lurkers and multiaccounters. After taking on a new contract, I have a lot more free time on my hands. I have been an on and off rec/serious player for a few years. Aside from that, I have a few month stint where I binked several low stakes small field mtts, and grinded 100nl and 200nl for a few months until I decided to stop gambling and get a job. I call it gambling because I would cash out $2400 a month until I dropped to a few hundred. I never really had more than $4000 in my account in that time. I ran into that issue a bunch right after college. I knew about bankroll management, but I didn't really game select well and should've pressed my roll harder in cash games or midstakes DoN's. Years later, I find myself wanting to get back in as a regular grinder. In the last year, I've won tournaments to run $50 to $3000 twice. I'm not sure how many I've played, maybe 100-300 total. I've cashed most of that out, but gave all of it and more back in live tournaments. They're extremely high variance, and with a full time job, I guess I didn't really care to build a roll anymore.

My goal here is to continue hashing out my writing and force some discipline into my system. I blog about data analysis to help build my network, and my hope is that adding another outlet will help me improve. I enjoy the freelance analysis work I get, and want to continue building my clients.

My poker goal is to grind from my small deposit without going back at it again. If I can make it three months and plug some of my leaks, then I will put together a roll for cash games. There's a casino with 5 tables of 1/2 and more higher tables on weekends about two hours from me. My contract will be up in the next 6 weeks, and I'll need to replace my income fast. Assuming my job search grind goes well, and by that I mean I push myself continually, then I don't see an issue with taking some of my savings for a live cash roll.

This initial goal of 1 month is to play nothing outside of the bankroll requirements I've written. This is a huge huge huge huge leak of mine. I don't think I'm better, and I'm not looking to win big, but I've always considered having an income meant I didn't need to keep strict management down. This is a silly hurdle and I'll overcome it by writing through it. I don't feel attached to certain limits. Another leak of mine is folding on bad run outs. I can give up on bluffs, and I try to stay as balanced on the turn and river, but I have such a hard time folding to river bets. Because my poker success came from mtts with low average stack sizes, I ended up studying hundreds of hours with a homemade excel tool and pokerstove. My preflop short stack game became very exploitative in nature and I never really needed to learn postflop. Few people could hand read where I played. I'd say that whole point can be called a mental laziness leak, developed from habits against different kinds of players.

Deposit: $100 on Carbon. I got the August bonus code, and a $30 casino freeplay. I tanked the freeplay on one hand of blackjack. No interest in grinding through that playthrough. I'd much rather hit it and secure a payout when I win 4 or 5 hands in a row. I don't gamble really ever, so if anyone has a comment on using freeplay's and stuff like it, I enjoy reading about it.

Bankroll rules?
- play sng's $3.50 and under until I have $210
- play 50bb stacks at 10nl until I have $250

Full disclosure: Its likely I have autism. I don't plan on elaborating on that further, but writing is therapeutic for me and for that reason, disclosing where I'm coming from is necessary.

For reasons unknown to me, I can't seem to get holdem manager working without freezing for minutes at a time. For that reason, I started marking my session in excel. I'll be able to open hm2 when I'm not in a session, find a few hands to study before it crashes or deal with it or whatever.

Today's highlights:

- gym
- dog socializing
- early wake up
- early work completion
- wrote this

I've only played about 120 hands and few sngs, but I'll come back with hands and write out my whole session when I finish. I have about another hour on my day.
