At 10NL and 25NL I have a very aggressive BR style. I started playing 4 tables of 10NL with just a $40 dollar BR like 14 days ago. This BR has had ups and downs the past year I guess. I can make a whole story of this, but I will keep it short since it's your thread and not really relevant to it, lol
.
I like to party, going nights out, drink alot and just having crazy weekends. If you combine this with poker: it's just not gonna work. No mental focus and in those times I don't feel like playing it that serious. Now, since I'm trying (and I'm doing very well this year 2014) to shut down a lot of those crazy weekends (just 1/2 a month in stead of every full weekend, lol), I want to pick up poker and want to get really serious with it. I have tons of time for it now, wich I will invest around 40%/60% studying and playing when dealing with poker.
I've been playing poker pretty serious for about three years (with ups and downs, also studying it with ups and downs), been working on my game really hard the last few weeks (ranges, EV calc., board textures, analyse hands in HM and post on 2+2, video's etc.) and I look around at 10NL and 25NL and I just feel condident that I am better than most around. One mayor leak fix is that I was spewing so bad sometimes (horrible C-game), that my winrate couldn't get decent because of it.
THAT's the reason why I started taking shots at 25NL with just a 125$ BR. I just start playing 4 tables and when feeling comfortable I started to play 6 tables. My plan was to 6 table with a BR of $200, but I actually already started at a BR of $150. Still going well with a 24bb/100 (wich I will not attain! lol) at just over like 2.5k hands so it doesn't tell that much.
BUT, here it comes: I feel OK at 50NL (have played there before, like a year ago now). So, when I first will take shots at this (when I reach $300, wich is close at the moment) I will start playing 4 tables (will drop down after I lose 2 BI; so $200 at 25NL again) and after a while I will put in the 5th and 6th table. At this stake though, I will keep on playing until I have at least 100k hands and say a 4+bb/100 WR before taking shots at 100NL (like a 4 BI shot with at least 15 BI BR = $1.500).
Sorry for the long post but it's my thought about the stakes for me as a player and a little background to make things clear. Just do things where you feel yourself comfortable with. I don't mind losing a BI (I could always reload if really needed). But if you do and only feel comfortable with at least 25 BI, just stick with it! You WILL succeed if you have a decent mind, work on your game HARD, trust in yourself and don't mind when losing a few BI (tilt is your biggest enemy!)
I will follow you, reply on your thread and I'm sure we can help eachother out getting to 100NL!
btw: where are you from?... I'm from Holland
