Welcome,

I figured as its the start of a new year it was time to start documenting my poker progress and setting some solid goals to aim for. Im currently playing 10nl Full Ring and I have set my goal of reaching 100nl. Im not gonna put a time limit on this as I will try for as long as it takes until I reach 100nl.

Background:
I was mainly a recreational poker player until about 6 months ago when I started to take poker more seriously. I was self-employed with an online business for 4 years making around £2k or £3k per month. Then things hit the fan and I lost that income. I began playing Poker online more often to take my mind off of what was happening to my online biz.

I then started to wonder if I could ever make some serious cash from poker. Being self-employed was good as Ive never liked working for other people for a crap wage. But losing my income practically overnight that Id worked hard for was really soul destroying. Ive always been an ultra competitive person and I want to win everything and anything im involved in.

Im re-launching my online biz in Jan 2014 and starting from scratch but I realise it will take a lot of time and hard work to get it back where it was and making any decent money. At the same time I will be working full time in a day job. In the evenings I will spend a couple of hours working on the online biz and a couple of hours on Poker.

Im hoping that some of the more experienced players can point me in the right direction and offer advice which I will be extremely grateful for. I am willing to work hard at this and I see study and learning as a fundamental part to my poker improvement.

I have so far read:
Harrington On Cash Games Vol.1
Crushing the microstakes - Blackrain
Super System - Doyle Brunson
Dynamic Full Ring Poker - Splitsuit
Poker Math That Matters - Owen Gaines
Mental Game Of Poker 1 - Jared Tendler
Mental Game Of Poker 2 - Jared Tendler

Currently Reading:
Harrington On Cash Games Vol.2
Applications Of No Limit Holdem - Matt Janda

I have watched some video coaching but not a great deal. I feel I have some poker knowledge but I know I still have a lot of leaks and confusion over some concepts and uncertainty of what to do in some situations. I will post hands where I feel I need help and will keep the thread updated with charts and stats.

My bankroll is currently $700 and im playing at 10nl. Ive moved up to 25nl previously when my BR reached $750 and I had to move back down. I am intending on moving up to 25nl again when I have $800.

I play 12-14 tables of full ring at the same time which I am comfortable with. I use Holdem Manager 2, TST, NoteCaddy Edge and I usually check my stats in Leakbuster for some advice on where my leaks are.

All feedback and opinions welcome, but lets try keep criticism constructive. Im not here to argue with anyone so if im stating my own opinions on something Im just trying to explain why I make that decision based on what Ive learned about poker thus far.

Enough talk here is to a good 2014, with some help and a lot of hard work a journey to 100nl, see you there. Lets do it..

I don't think you need to be quite that careful with your bankroll. I would even take a shot at 25nl right now. Just see what happens.

Well I took a shot at 25nl before with 30 BIs - $750 and had to drop back down. So to me the logical thing to do is have a bigger roll for the next attempt so I am less affected by variance and feel more comfortable.

But perhaps this is naivety and inexperience on my part?

I am around 16/13, although it has varied from month to month sometimes bit higher or lower.

3 bet is around: 6

I think I 3bet too often from the blinds.

Ha, I have been playing a ton of FR on Starts recently... started at 2NL in November, then 5nl, and am currently playing 10nl but am not as much of a bankroll nit as I'd like to be... currently on $240, but move down at $170, back up at $200..

Anyways, my point was.... I have have noticed way too many people 3bet from the blinds and then have no idea what to do when they are called.. I don't think it's so much of a problem at 10NL, but as you move up I can see it being win rate destroyingly bad.

Cool, will check on the thread..

oh yeah, move up you massive nit... ; )

In the blinds when someone has opened in mid position or CO and I have a small to medium pocket pair im inclined to 3 bet if I feel they are opening with a wide range.

They may fold to the 3bet.
I might hit a set.
A cbet on the flop may take the pot down.

If I dont 3bet and cold call im OOP on the flop and there is a high chance of overcards.

Whilst I like to 3bet here I feel it contributes alot to my 3bet stats from the blinds.

Obv the board is crazy dangerous but I still half expected this fish to turn up with something like a pair of 10s or 8s here. His bets were pretty weak. But dunno if I played this too well regardless.

yeh we were bumping heads quite a few times tonight. Wasent picking on you honest just figured that you seem to like to play it safe and you only stick around if you are strong so thought I would see how you deal with increased aggression.

I could just sense you had missed with AK at one point

Still dont think we have been to showdown once!

Anyway dont try and pick on me 2m or ill run off to 25nl
