had nice big winning session live which is always nice

was a 7 handed game where tbh i had a terrible seat, direct to the right of Mr Blonde, the only person at the game who I didn't wana be OOP to. Had a few interesting battles most of which ended with me turning the winning hand in some big pots.

Whilst running bad vs me, he ran good vs rest of table and didn't do too badly results wise and was second biggest winner after myself for a sizable sum Talked a lot about the zoom player pool and in general about moving up etc, volume seems to be the key :P

Hit 40k VPPs for the year, and still pretty confident I can make SN by December, even with uni...lol

Month of live pokers so far, mostly 1-2 deep and 5-5 with some 5-10

Played last night at broadway as I have been doing every friday ( and only fridays ) and they got a 2/5 going. Was the softest game I've ever played in but was card dead for first 3-4 hours which sucked as there was chips flying everywhere. Started picking up some hands and made my way to £1.5k~ profit.

The game began to break a around 4 and became a 3 handed 5-10 game which is far more suited to me than nitring. Had good fun playing close to every hand, despite losing some of the bigger pots and ending up £700 after losing a few pots in a row at the end around 8am.

Overall pretty happy with my play this month. Have to adapt quite a lot compared with online where it's always 6 players, always same stake, and just trying to play A game each session. Live is much more about making exploitative adjustments which I never felt that strong at so made good progress this month I recon.

Saw Mr Blonde's thread where he posted he had a $20k month and made me wana make this since I've never thought to convert my live winnings in GBP to USD, as the two game formats are pretty different.

dat $10k month

End of year update I guess:

Since my last post, I've played live 10-15 times mainly in Birmingham with some Manchester games too when I've been at home. Here's an updated graph:

[graph in GBP]

Obv on a nice little heater atm, and I know live poker is 30 hands/hr max, but over the last 500 hours of play I've averaged £45/hr which isn't quite the target of £50/hour but getting there.

My lack of volume is partly down to my uni course being quite strenuous, but mainly because I've just been going out too much, and spending a lot of time with the gf. However out of these things came my interest in staking people. I had always wanted to get into cash game staking, but never had the motivation since I was playing so much myself. Now with my time being filled by other things, I began staking 3-5 people for live cash in the UK.

Overall things are going well, although one of the guys is in quite a bit of makeup but for the games he plays in it's not a big amount. I enjoy staking, and waking up in the morning to see 3-4 texts with plus/minuses and some HH's keep me connected to poker, and keep my mind in the game somewhat. Their questions make me question my own game/play in that spot and so although I've been unable to put in as much volume as I would've liked to, I feel my poker theory wise is stronger than ever.

Not really into the whole goal setting for new years or w/e, since it's pretty much an on going thing for me in terms of setting random goals and trying to achieve them throughout the year haha. However I do have a few things I'd like to officially write down so that I can keep focuses on them.

1. Continue to run and eventually expand my live poker stable

2. Recreate my online staking stable

3. Continue to play in the biggest games that run in the north of England

4. Build a live roll so that I can sit deep at 5/10 in the Vic/PB next time i go ( probably summer )

5. Go vegas and return alive

6. 30k hands a month MINIMUM

7. Stop spending £200 a week on eating/going out

Wish everybody the best in the new year poker and otherwise!

It's 11AM, I've been up for 20 hours, played 3k hands online, 12 hours of live and somehow I'm still on twoplustwo reading PGC's and poker blogs rather than sleeping

After reading through old posts in other people's pgcs/blogs and seeing their progression it made me want to start posting again, and not in some new thread that I may end up failing to update, but in the one I started in the beginning, this one!

So, I guess it's time for an update!

Moved to London

I finished my degree and decided that if I want to take poker seriously then London is the place to be. After getting back from Vegas last summer I started taking regular trips to London using airbnb to scope out the games and what I saw in contrast to the rest of the UK made my mind up instantly.

I got chatting with another reg on the game at hippo who was in an identical situation to me (from up north and looking to move down due to sick games) and we decided to look for a place straight away and ended up taking the first place we could find. It was a shoddy (for the price) two bed in Clapham but it didn’t matter because we both spent 60h a week at least grinding live, so it did the job just fine!

6 months down the line however we got forced to move which was a blessing in disguise as now we are in a fantastic 3 bed for a similar price to what we were paying previously but with a much higher standard of living! The third guy we are living with is an old friend of mine from online who has also moved to London to grind live, which works really well as I can’t imagine living with somebody on a normal schedule, having to worry about noise, coming in late etc..

With regards to living in London, whilst a lot of my friends from uni/school live here also, meet ups are inevitably few and far between, so the people I see the most are the guys I play with. There’s a really cool community of about 20 people who I’d class myself as friendly with, and there’s usually a casual meet up/night out once a month which can be messy Managed to meet a bunch of guys from twoplustwo who are online and live grinders, it's nice to put a face to a sn. In particular most recently BigAsiaOK and day’n’night who I’ve chatted with on threads/pm/skype since as early as Feb 2014 but didn’t know in person until a couple of months ago!

Live Poker

Since coming to London things have gone better than I could ever have hoped for. Whilst I do play both online and live, live is by far my main game and consumes the majority of my time. It’s a massive time sink but is also accountable for almost all of my earnings so I guess that’s a fair trade-off! In terms of results I’m very happy with where I’m at right now. I’ve been feeling really good about my game which has been helped massively by things going well at the right times! I’ve been taking some shots at some of the larger games a lot of which have been going in my favour.

In February I travelled to Vegas/LA for the Superbowl/LAPC where, although I got off to a rough start, I ended up having a nice little upswing in arguably the softest games in the world. A lot of the London grinders who I went with have applied for 6 month visa’s to go back and many are planning their next trips or have already been back since!

I’m currently on the fence with regards to going to Macau to check out the action there. I personally probably won’t be going to Vegas for summer because I despise tournaments and it’s the worst time of the year to grind cash there. Oh and speaking of tournaments time for a bit of bragging

After a bizarre series of events I somehow ended up final tabling a live mtt for a six figure score! As impressive as that is to say, I had of course sold a bunch of action but still nice boost none the less.

Online Poker

Online has been a mixed bag since coming to London, by which I mean I am generally winning at 100z and losing it all back at 200z. This is something I find infuriating! I feel like I am winning in 200z and from reviews from people who I consider to be crushing the field they say I am playing well, but I can’t make the green line on the graph go up! I am down a staggering amount at 200z in a fairly short time frame and I am not ashamed to admit my confidence has taken a knock.

In the last 6 months the zoom pools seemed to have really stepped up their game. When I started 100z I would just 3b and cbet 33% psb mindlessly and get a staggering amount of folds. This caused me to be able to produce a graph like this:

However either I’m running worse, or the field has adjusted to the smaller sizings that were far less prevalent 6 months ago than they are today. I’d bet it’s a small amount of the first, and a lot of the latter.

The flip side to this means I’m working on my game harder than ever, trying to solve every spot I can think of by running a bunch of scripts and chatting through hands with guys who I think are really good.

Future Content

A bunch of guys who I met in London who enjoyed this pgc previously asked me why I stopped updating. The main reason was because I made the error of posting information about live games in the north which then spread to people in the game and blew up in my face. Whilst I didn’t say anything negative or derogatory about anybody, the mere fact that they were being blogged about on the internet made them feel uncomfortable and ended up with me being barred from the private game I was involved with.

This is not a mistake I will make twice.

Therefore there will be close to 0 updates about what I’m playing, who with or where (at least for London).

HOWEVER! I do my fair share of traveling to play (Punta Cana last November, Vegas and LA in Feb, Macau potentially in the near future) plus plan on playing a bunch more online, and I’ll be more liberal with stories from when travelling!

So… if you’re interested in any of that stick around for random and infrequent updates!

PS: this is my house mate’s pgc who also updates infrequently,

We make the game 5/10 and play for a while, I end up small winner in the game and play basically no interesting or big hands. In the end the game dies with just him, my housemate, reg and I left and this is where he invites my housemate and me to come along with him for an all-paid trip to Paris, as he goes home again Friday. We have nothing to do so are interested... Reason we were invited (I believe) is cause he likes us and cause we're happy to play bigger games and since he had to go to Paris for work he decided to just take the action with him;D

We arrange a game Thursday night and initially the game was 5/10 and dead; then randomly a variety of fish show up and there's 2 ridic good tables of 5/10/20. I win a bunch of small pots and am up ~3-4k somehow in relatively bad lineup. Then the lineup got good and I insta lose profit;

5/10/20; Mp opens 60, 3 calls and I call 22 in bb.
T92cc
xxxxx
Jc
mp calls 275
3o
he calls 525 and wins with 78

5/10/20; Utg opens 100, 3 calls, I'm straddle AKo make it 675, only co calls.
T96r
I jam 1475 he calls and wins with 96.

Game gets bigger....

5/10/20/40; Utg 160, mp 400, btn coldcall, sb coldcall, I'm in straddle 40 and somehow wake up with AA no diamond. Make it 1775, mp calls.
A93dd
He calls 875
5o
he calls 1800
Qd
I jam 5500 he tanks 5min and folds.

We're winning again yay! Game got deeper and thus the stakes went up again...

Billionaire is villain...
5/10/20/40/80; He opens hj 240, I'm btn KK make it 825, he makes it 2400, I jam ~15-16k, he calls and holds with AA. My new biggest loss, yay! #milestones

We are left with 5 players and change the blinds to 10/25/50.
10/25/50; Billionaire opens co 150, I'm sb AoKc make it 650, he flats.
A87cc
I bet 650, he raises 2000, I call.
3c
He jams ~5500, I call and hold vs 56o.

It's nearing the end of the night and we started playing button game; Every hand the button puts £100 on the button and wins everything on it when they win the hand while being button. It's the last orbit and mr billionaire is btn.
10/25/50; He opens btn 300, I call bb 89cc.
T93dd
I xc 600
6o
Xx
7d
I xc 2000 and win vs AdQo.

I somehow end the session breakeven despite losing a ~32k pot;D.

By now our trip to Paris is confirmed and we meet Friday afternoon to get the train to Paris... I don't want to post too many details but we end up being picked up by a nice car to go to a nice hotel and play the same night.

Games were 5/5 and 5/10 and not exactly interesting, day 1. I set over set someone and end the day up €4k.

The second day our friend is in meetings/doing whatever and my housemate and I go drinking and play 5/5. I play one fun hand;

5/5 I open AA mp 20, co 60, sb coldcall, I 360, co 1360, I put him ai ~3300, he calls with AK and I hold.

Fun story how our friend showed up and went sitting besides us to talk and the dealer said he can't sit there; Our friend tips the dealer a €500 chip and is magically allowed to stay.

We play 5/10 with him for a couple hours after that

5/10; I open KK to 40, friend calls, co makes it 260 we both call.
865dd
We both call 530
8o
I lead 1340
Friend calls, co folds
9o
xx i win v 96o

5/10; housemate opens, 30 I AKo 110, friend coldcalls, 2 others coldcall, housemate calls.
Q22r
xxxxx
Ao
Friend and btn calll 300.
3o
I bet 1k, friend makes it 3.5k, I call and lose vs a3.

5/10/20; I open TT 60, friend 200, sb coldcall, i 800, both call.
842dd
I bet 900, friend fold, sb call.
7d
Xx
9o
xx i win v 8x.

I end day 2 up ~€7k and we head to the hotel and go home next day... There were delays and lots of people waiting for the train to London, but luckily our friend got us businessclass tickets that had flexible leaving time so we could basically skip the lines and go home, lol.

So that's all about our random trip to Paris... I have no idea how long this post is due to having written it all on my phone and also, my friend may post more about it on his pgc - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...5/index17.html

Brag: Somehow won £600 in 1/2 while writing this, and last night forgot my keys so waited for someone to wake up and won £900 in 1/2 then!

Here is a link to his thread which i suggest you check out!

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...71/index6.html

Not much to add other than I had an interesting spot that I've never been in before. So on checking into the hotel I got given my key card and went up to my room.

The door had one of those door not disturb signs on the outside which I thought was odd for an empty room but assumed (incorrectly) that cleaners had probably just forgotten. After touching my key card to the plate, I opened the door to see a man and his wife sat there in dressing gowns, wine in hand looking incredulously back at me.

WTF!

Anyway went back down to reception who sorted it out and as an apology gave me the second nicest/most expensive room as compensation! Felt baller haha

Cliffs: We ball around with a billionaire in Paris for a weekend as his guests

life and poker has been good and running well in general, so with my new found confidence decided to check out 200z, a limit where historically my blue line has never been positive!

Fired up some tables and got grinding!
Spoiler:

Stopped because it's getting silly now. 100z been going so well recently so think I'm playing good. Just spots which I consider standard but will post here to get second opinion

hhconverter not working for me so apologies for the screenies

Think this is one of our best bluffs otr other than KQ, but unsure on turn sizing? Maybe can go half pot?

Standard?

Spew?

Hand 1 - Blockers are decent, although I'm disinclined to barrel the J pairing river, as so much of our turn value bets need to check now. We do block QJhh and Axcc though, so it's somewhat tempting. Our value range is thiiiin though, so we wanna be doing a lot of checking in this river.

Hand 2 - x/c flop

Hand 3 - Seems fine

h2 xc flop, not a fan of xr esp with this hand.

h3. we probably want diff sizing on this river. although jamming seems fine, I might be inclined to bet >50% with this hand.

I think H2 is misplayed on flop, should xc imo. 1&3 look perfect, although could argue a 1/3 bet otr w/ AJ as you block folds

reviewed these hands with pio, was unsure on:-

h1 turn sizing but it appears that pio wants to go 80% and then jam this river, so fairly well played

h2 I don't know exactly what IP is 4b, but I do know my 3bc range so given a snowie IP range, pio wants to xr all in with this combo, although I was wrong about IP. I assumed that like in most 4b it cbets close to 100%, however on this mono flop it checks 1/3 of the time, something i did not expect! Given that it checks makes the xr worse but it still xr over half the time with this combo so I don't think it's that big of a mistake (if at all)

h3 not done much work with less than ai sizes otr in 4b pots (kinda niche lol) but will look into it!
