Day 31
Well, it finally happened. I think it was about 14 straight days of winning in the bankroll challenge, but all good things come to an end.
I lost a chunk of it playing NL 200, and some of it playing PLO 200 as well. All in all, while I am much worse at PLO than in NL, I do think that the PLO tables are much softer. There are a bunch of NL regs that jump into the game to be on the stream and play with me, so the skill level of the average player seems way lower.
Overall I am being more agro with the bankroll, becuase I want to complete this challenge in a somewhat reasonable time frame. Obviously taking 17 buyin PLO shots is not a good strategy for building your own bankroll, but given that I don't need this money in any way and that I am 100% positive I have an edge in the games, it gives me an opportunity to be more aggressive.
The most interesting hand i played yesterday (There are no WSOP HH) involved me flatting a 2 card straight flush on the river. The hand went as follows
CO open, I call BB with As 2s X X.
Flop: 5s 4s 3s - Check/Check
Turn: Brick - Check/Check
River: Brick - Check/Bet/Pot raise/Min 3b/Call
In retrospect, this was probably too nitty. However, if your opponent is going to have a 3b range on the river, it sohuld pretty clearly be centered around the As. Becuase I have that card, what other hands are there that could 3b the river and call a jam? Does the 2NF really take this line? It actually seemed somewhere between a bluff and a straight flush, so I didnt see much merit in jamming.
He ended up having the 3NF, with 3 spades. Not a very good line from him considering my range is clearly not capped OOP, but in retrospect that type of play seems more likely. I think at higher levels though, it still might be reasonable to flat the river.
I am going to be moving down to NL 100 and PLO 100 for my next session, which will be this Sunday at 9 am PST. I am moving it to an early spot for 1 day, because I want to give the Europeans a chance to check out the stream. Drop on by if the normal time is too late for you.
