New Book Unveiled: How I Made My First Million from Poker

Crushing games since age 18. Hundreds of thousands of pots won around the world. Thousands of hand history analysis with top poker minds.

My new book is finally here: How I Made My First Million from Poker.

I’m SUPER EXCITED and EXTREMELY PROUD with my creation.

If you want to play high-performance poker and live a happy and rewarding life, this is it.

Now, what does it mean to play high-performance poker?

To some people, this means feeling motivated to log hands all the time, playing your ‘A’ game every day, tilt less, and much more.

But it’s more than that.

It’s about creating a lifestyle that enables you to achieve all of the above and truly live a rewarding life as a poker player. To have the financial and personal freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want; to have the ultimate luxury of controlling your own time and be on an airplane en route to another continent at the click of a mouse.

Can you talk more about the modern poker lifestyle?

Many people incorrectly think the poker lifestyle is all about drinking, clubbing, or balling out of control. While some people enjoy these activities, they are rare among successful poker players.

The modern poker lifestyle is about having choices to do what you want, whenever you want.

Oh yeah, you’ll learn how to crush poker too.

There are extensive strategies on how to work on your game to stay ahead of the curve. I have no doubt that if you follow the guidelines in this book, you will become a better player. I used these same strategies to make my first million before turning 25 years old.

I also provided all the ‘aha’ moments I have experienced throughout my poker career that will definitely change the way you think about poker.

What’s the difference between this book and other psychology books out there?

A lot of psychology books are written by psychologists who don’t have experience playing high-stakes poker. They don’t understand how stressful it is to play poker for a living. They don’t know the pain of losing $20,000 in a few hours and don’t understand that no matter how positive you try to act, you just lost $20,000. They don’t understand how a bad beat can derail the most talented poker minds.

This book is different. Much different …

It’s drawn from my real life experiences and also those of the top .1% of poker players in the world.

There is a story of how I lost almost $100,000 playing high-stakes poker and what I did to regain my confidence.

There is a story of why I was playing worse than my opponents even though I was much better than them.

Then there are stories on why I wasn’t playing my ‘A’ game and what I did to allow me to play better day in and day out.

I didn’t achieve all my success and freedom overnight. I had to work for it. Fortunately, I went through trials and tribulations so you don’t have to. You just need to read my stories.

A wise man once said, "poker is a hard way to make an easy living." While there is some truth to that, it DOES NOT have to be that way. There's no rule that says you need to be miserable and stressed out with sore shoulders and painful backs to succeed as a poker player.

But, can YOU do this?

After teaching literally thousands of players, I realized that anyone can achieve this modern poker lifestyle.

Whether you are a micro-stakes player or a poker prodigy crushing the nosebleeds like Tom Dwan, you can live a healthy, happy, and rewarding life as a poker player. You just need the correct strategies. And I'm confident this book can help you with that.

One last thing ...

If you pre-order today, not only will you save 20% off the regular price, you will have access to my private forum where I will answer ANY QUESTION for the whole year. I know some readers will have questions and I want to be there to make sure you get all the help you need. But that's not all ...

Re: [PRE-ORDER SPECIAL ... Less than 2 weeks left] New Book: How I Made My First Million from P

I had the chance to read Tri's new book in the last few weeks and really enjoyed it. It's the sort of book that you can read through in a few sittings and get an overall feel for it, and then you can go back to re-read the parts that are relevant for you as need be.

The book is a reflection of Tri's years of playing and studying online poker. It very much feels like a conversation - all the content is filtered through personal experience. He discusses anything and everything that he considers relevant.

For example, here is an excerpt from a section about selecting a coach:

Having a poker coach who cares about you is great for your mindset because you feel good when someone else cares about you. Well, maybe not for you but I know I do. Additionally, this coach who cares would occasionally ask you how you are doing and can provide insights if you are struggling. Sometimes, a simple suggestion such as “cut down some tables” can do miraculous things for your win rate. Other times, a comment like “I think you're a good player and I'm surprised you aren't winning” can help with your confidence if you are in a downswing.

If you have a coach who charges you for any minute beyond the allotted time, you probably should pass on him. It's standard for a coach to go over his coaching hour by 10 to 15 minutes to wrap up a session. If your coach asks for payment for those extra minutes, move on. Although what the coach did is technically correct, I'm not fond of it. In the real world, customer service is everything. Why don't we hold the same standard for poker coaches?

I have heard horror stories in which a poker coach thinks he's doing the student a service by offering him coaching. In these cases, the students should realize they've gotten the wrong coach and run as fast as they can. The same goes for coaches who aren't professional in their planning. There are better options out there. Spend a little more if you have to.

Another thing students should be wary about is whether the coaches are still winners. Although there are a few coaches who are exceptional at what they do while playing only very little, the vast majority of coaches who don't win probably aren't worth their prices. They reiterate whatever they have read and since it sounds good, it must be right. And you have no way of knowing since you are still finding your place in the poker world and your coach has a good reputation so you're more inclined to give your coach the benefit of the doubt.

This advice is dead on, and gives beginning players very good insight into a subject that has been quite controversial at times. Here is some more advice from the "Command Center" section. Tri discusses selecting the proper chair:

A wise man once said “to run a startup, you need a $40 desk, $1000 chair, and a $399 espresso machine.” You should buy whatever ergonomic chair that
you can afford. If you can't afford it, find a way. Eat instant noodles for a month or something. Ask anyone who owns one and they will swear by it. Any person who doesn't like his ergonomic chair definitely bought the wrong one. I understand it is expensive, but it is well worth it.

I own a Herman Miller Mirra and my back has been great ever since. I bought the Mirra instead of an Aeron because it has a hard back. I also don't lean back nor use the head rest when I sit. For those who enjoy leaning back
and are tall and big, consider a Freedom. Herman Miller recently came out with an Embody chair and I have read great reviews.

One important advice that everyone seems to recommend is to test out the chair before you buy it. Sit in it for a couple of hours at least before making the purchase. You don't want to discover after you've made the investment
that the chair is not the best for you.

Once again, very relevant and practical advice from someone who has given the topic plenty of thought.

I picked out these two examples to highlight what I thought was the kind of content you are unlikely to find in any other book that's currently out there. Tri also discusses dealing with tilt, dealing with downswings, as well how the role that poker has played in his life has evolved over the years.

If you are thinking about taking your game to the next level, this book will offer you plenty of insight into the world and mindset of a player who has been there and done that.

How is the forum different from other forums such as on coaching sites or this one except for you helping to answer the questions? (I mean is there a community of players that discuss poker?)

Also the forum membership is given just by purchasing this book? (I own Poker Blueprint and I ordered NL Workbook like 2 days ago)

If you (or others) find coaching sites' forums are helpful, then go for it. The more you learn, the better.

I'm just going above and beyond for my customers and provide a platform where they can ask me questions.

After the book is launch, the private forum will only be available to book purchases.

So if you own the Poker Blueprint or other titles, you can email support@dailyvariance.com and we'll give you additional rights.

Re: [PRE-ORDER SPECIAL ... Less than 2 weeks left] New Book: How I Made My First Million from P

Here's my review on the book:

The foreword of the book is written by the well-respected poker legend and author Barry Greenstein. The book itself is built around one major theme: the author wants to show that everyone can become a good poker player without being a genius. Like in other things in life, the key to success is to work for it on every level.

The book is divided into 20 chapters (253 pages), each containing small sections of about two pages. Each chapter gives concrete pointers on how to improve your game in different levels, like mental state, your environment and you poker game itself.

The book reads like a high speed train. It's like sitting in a bar next to the author who is sharing experiences and wisdom from over the years. Tri explains in a clear way and with some anecdotes how he overcame the troubles he came by during his poker career. The answers proposed by Tri are not always wonder potions that will immediately make you a pro. The chances that I'll update my handwritten journal every evening next to my newly bought dog are rather slim. In my opinion, the biggest merit of the book is that it points out in detail what facets influence your poker game and helps you to find a way to improve them. By adding a 'workbook'-section on the end of every chapter with questions or tasks to fulfill, the author makes you aware that the book isn't written to tell you his success story but to help the reader to stop and think about the concept and how they interfere in his life or game.

The concepts discussed are very wide. Of course the mental game is covered (how to avoid tilt, how to prepare for a session, how to overcome a downswing) but also how to organize your life, improve your game and (prepare to) play against certain opponents. My favorite part (and the biggest chapters of the book) is the “Working on Your Game” chapter. Here, Tri gives his thoughts on leveling wars, ranges, balancing, playing out of position, river bets, optimal strategy and many more problems everyone encounters at the table. The solutions proposed are certainly not always the most traditional ones, but always explained in a clear, easy to understand and well founded way. I can assure you that it's really interesting to get a journey into the mind of a successful poker pro and coach and it has certainly influenced my views on many aspects of the game.

If you're serious about poker and want to improve your game in every aspect, at the current price, this book is a real bargain in my opinion! The book is certainly a good read, with a lot of poker stories, interesting opinions and it really gives you a peak into the personal life and the mind of a well respected poker-pro without having to pay a high coaching fee! But most of all, this book is really inspiring and invited me to think about my game, poker in general and made me hungry to play at the tables.

Re: [PRE-ORDER SPECIAL ... Less than 2 weeks left] New Book: How I Made My First Million from P

Quote:
I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think.
A poker professional had the above Socrates quote in the signature of an email he sent to me recently.

The books that I get the most value out of are not books that lay out a plan (step 1, step 2, step 3...), they are the books that make me think and give me a new perspective, a new angle from which to attack a problem. Don't get me wrong, books that lay out the step by step process can be valuable, but they are limited in what they can do. Step by step is better for building a house, for example, but less so for motivating yourself to build that house, and even less so for designing a house that is appealing to your taste. And in order to truly improve your poker life, and life in general, you need a book that makes you think and inspires you to think in a way that actually helps you long after you put the book down.

What I really enjoyed about Tri's book is how my thoughts expanded throughout the book, almost a self analysis of my time in the poker world and into what I plan to achieve in the future. Tri balances valuable tips for handling leaks, out of game study and work ethic with personal stories, humor and a very strong and experienced perspective of what is truly important in both your poker life and your broader life.

If you have been around poker awhile, you know the value of work ethic. You may not understand it entirely, or feel confident in your own work ethic, but you see where it gets people. The best players usually have the best work ethic. The way they attack hands, in and out of the game, the way they constantly find new ways to look at those hands and their opponents, it can be quite impressive and when you trace the roots of their success, hard work is often a major variable present.

But so few people seem to take that same motivated and competitive hard work into their everyday lives. How can you make the accurate decision, build the optimal strategy, decipher a complex range of hands, time and again when facing Ivy league graduate level players, yet manage to lack the foresight and discipline to prevent a major mental burnout? Tri's book does as good of a job at explaining why and how this happens, as any book I've read. He talks about why players tilt, burnout, fade away, grow complacent. He talks about how to avoid and prevent these weaknesses, and helps you turn those weaknesses into strengths.

The book is also not just focused on improving your poker game, but on improving your entire life. That tells me that Tri gets it, that Tri has been there, fought through the tough times and is a much stronger player and person for it. If you're not where you want to be in poker and in life, I think this book can give you the inspiration and information to help get you back on track.
