PokerStrategy v Cardrunners PokerStrategy v Cardrunners

11-26-2012 , 09:48 AM
I have access to PokerStrategy silver level at present to view training videos.

How does the PS videos compare to those at Cardrunners for Micro and Small Stakes 6max and FR.

Was wondering if it is worth signing up for Cardruneers or carry on getting the points to continue with PS?

Hi Adrm,

Thanks for your post, very valid and hopefully we can put across a strong enough argument for you to stay here, we genuinely do believe we are the best home for any aspiring poker player

As any training site we focus a lot of our effort on training videos. We release free videos every week in the form of a weekly freebie. I have drafted a quick selection of the best of the year so far that you may be interested in. In here you have a good mixture of no limit videos, psychology videos and also some MTT videos from some of the best players in the world.

NL January - > Video Say Farewell to Chart Poker: Our German coach KTU starts his series with a freebie. The series focuses on thinking outside the box and help crush the ABC regs.

NL February - > Video "You can't win if you fold" Gibraltars homegrown Pleno1 and CallumN go to the recording room for their debut video and analyse a hand where Patrick plays a very interesting hand.

NL March - > Video Midstakes Magic: Insyder19 tackels the mid stakes, playing 4 tables and playing very aggressively

NL April -> Video Balancing & Ranges: One of the biggest winners in the world Daniel “Jungleman” Cates speaks about the importance of balance in mid and high stakes games

SNG May -> Video Side by Side: Forum favourite Faarcyde playing a low and high stakes SNG side by side and speaks about the differences in the games and how you should adjust vs players in different stakes games

WSOP June -> Video Vannesa Rousso Party: PokerStrategy.com reporter Tobias Block gets a VIP pass to Vanessa Rousso’s WSOP party and sneaks in a camera to show PokerStrategy.com around

PSYCHOLOGY July -> Video Variance in poker: Bogdan will use various tools and methods available to him to showcase the concepts behind the effects of variance on us as poker players.

MTT August ->: Video One Drop Analysis: Braminc loads the hands from the one drop into his re-player and uses his skills and software to analyze the most interesting hands. Learn from the mistakes that are even made on the very highest stakes!

MTT September -> Video Game Selection: EPT San Remo winner Rupert Elder tells us that although he won almost $1,000,000 he still chooses which games he should and shouldn’t fold.

MTT October -> Video Welcoming Melanie: Former Red Pro Melanie Weisner makes her debut video, discussing a hand where she gets into a tricky situation vs a sneaky Russian.

PSYCHOLOGY November -> Video Poker/Life Balance: Our psychology expert Schnitzelfisch speaks about the importance issue of balancing poker with life options.

I’ve also filtered a search to show you all silver and basic no limit videos

A second important part of our offer is our hand evaluation forums. Basically, the idea is.. You post a hand and we have a professional judge who will aim to respond and reply with good reasoning within 24 hours. We have very very strong boards in the NL10-NL50 section and I’m sure that this can elevate your game into 2013 and push you through the stakes.

I don't know what the situation at cardrunners is but exceptional content for Micro and Small Stakes 6max and FR at ps.com has been few and far between for a while now.

To get the most rounded answer either ask in cardplayer forum as well... or better still in a neutral forum

I was a member of both for nearly two years (free with FTP at the time) - and I watched at least one card runner vid a week and looked twice or more a week at the forums there. I hardly looked at the PS forum and watch only two videos in the whole time.

This could be because CR had better content (probably) or maybe I didn't give PS enough of a chance.

I think my perceived value was that CR was a premium site and content.

But I'm sure other who had free access thought the opposite.

But for me I would go with CR.

But do ask this question elsewhere to get a full answer as I'm just one person and you are better off hearing from many and seeing what is right for you.

But yeah at this time there was far more content and varied content on CR. But after US got pulled their release of videos may have dried up a bit (?)

Pokerstrategy.com is for people who are able/willing to pay $2000/yr. For us common folk CR is amazing value. I sub both to CR and Leggo and I've watched some amazing videos on those sites.

actually man u dont pay anything...i have an account with pokerstrategy and have registered my stars account with them...so they get paid from the rake and i still get the standard stars rakeback scheme like everybody else...win-win situation imo...
u are probably talking about buyin a pokerstrategy higher status to watch all the vids...but it isnt the main feature of the site imo...it mostly works in the way that u signup to a poker site through them and just play there and accumulate points...
anyway the way i see it its a pretty good way to watch coaching vids and great value

I am also looking at joining a training site. I've joined PS and CR but not payed for any monthly/yearly packages yet.
I registered my party account on PS but don't even play on there, is there any way to register another account? I was kind of led to believe party was the only one I could register TBH.
I decided against personal coaching as I thought it was going to be too expensive. After checking out pricing on training sites I am now not so sure
At least with a coach you would be directed straight to the key issues and not have to wade through all the Guff to find what you really need to be working on.

Help!!

Hey Jozabell,

you can earn StrategyPoints & thus free status upgrades at any poker room where you create your account through PokerStrategy.com:
http://www.pokerstrategy.com/online-poker-rooms/

I.e. you can earn SP through your tracked PartyPoker account - or create one at one of our other partner rooms where you do not have an account yet.

By the way, PartyPoker just significantly increased in traffic, due to bwin joining the network. Maybe you want to check it out & give PP another try?

What if I'm already a member of PP, Pstars, FT, Carbon, Titan etc? What then? Is it just the cash subscription? Unless I join another site thru PS which I may not like playing on.

Hey Jozabell,

basically yes - the options are either gathering SP (by playing on a tracked room) or buying a subscription (or, in theory, a combination of both).

Our status logic btw also partly refers to the limits played. Say you play NL50, then Gold should be the status with the by far best cost-benefit ratio for you. Gold comes at less than $15 per month on the 12-month-subscription.

Best,
Lutz
