Played this hand at the tail end of a long session. Thats usually when I start making weird plays, like this.

1/2

Both villains are probably around 5 bb/hour winners. They are definitely able to fold a hand, and stab at pots.

utg straddles to 4
villain 1 ($200) limps mp
hero raises to $22 otb with A9
villain 2 ($400) calls from sb
folds to villain 1 who calls

3 way to the flop ($70)

884

checks around

turn: ($70)

8845

villain 2 leads $35, villain 1 calls, hero raises to $80.

I dont really have much equity so theres that, but I thought my line looked pretty nuttish to 2 regs that can hand read. Needs to work 37% of the time. I pretty much never do weird stuff like this (but i usually post it here when I do), so villains dont see me as bluffy. Eights are never folding. This might just be burning money, but I thought it was sorta interesting. If you are villain, what are you calling with?

I don't think I like it, with the caveat that obviously it's a weird and hard to analyse spot. Your hand doesn't really look like anything. I don't buy this as a strong hand line because I think you'd bet your strong hands on the flop, plus wouldn't raise turn with something like a boat so you can allow villains to bluff/river good hands. But obviously your hand doesn't look like a bluff, either, so I'd be pretty befuddled if I were one of the villains.

I think villains are continuing with 67, 44-77, any eight, A4ss, A6ss, A7ss. The problem is that both their ranges probably contain a lot of that stuff. Close to working 37% of the time but maybe not quite there, gun to head I'd say you get two folds a third of the time.

Exactly what value hand would you play this way? Wtf kind of sizing is that on turn?

sizing really bad. V2 not folding unless was just taking an lol-stab. standard c-bet seems much better.

A common mistake at these limit games is people are calling too often and folding not enough.

Bluffing without equity multiway is something you should rarely if ever be doing for the reason above.

I can see it working in this spot because most of the time they'll show up with a pocket pair or maybe a flush draw, but I don't think this is a good play.

If I'm villain, I'm calling with an 8, or 2 spades with the gutter straight draw nearly always.

Might fold 2 smaller spades, or just the straight gutter here.

Your bet isn't good. It isn't really bad either. Its like a big giant MEH. Id increase the size if you do it again.

I don't like the turn bet, but I hate the sizing even more. If I decide to raise a bet and a call in your spot (with a bluff or a nut hand), I'm going bare minimum $125. I'd prefer betting the flop, then double barreling the turn opposed to your current action.
