Villain - loose, gambling type player. Had announced after winning a sizeable pot earlier in the night 'I haven't been up in cash in two years! I'm just too much of a gambler!'

Hero - been playing a couple of hours, played mostly LAG as table was passive. Showed down mainly strong hands and also made some good calls on the river vs bluffs. Against villain, as he is loose, I had raised and 3bet him a lot in position.

OTTH

Preflop
UTG (£26) raises to £6
Villain UTG+1 (£250) Calls
HJ (£200) Calls
Hero BU (£220) Calls = KT
Blinds fold

I elect to just call on the button in this situation (I would usually 3bet here to around £25) because the UTG player had been short for the entire situation and I had not seen him play a single hand so he was looking for an opportunity to GII so I presumed I had no fold equity against him.

Flop (£26) 56T
UTG checks, Villain announces 'I bet pot' bets £26 (Dealer told him what the pot was so he could bet the pot, is this allowed in NLHE?), HJ Folds, Hero Calls, UTG folds.

This time I elect for the call because villain has tons of draws in his hand and I had seen him bet his draws previously

Turn (£78) 5
Villain checks, Hero bets £45, Villain raises to £100, Hero Calls.

Not loving the situation at this point but I'm still not blocking any straight or flush draws and the price is so good. Not loving the situation but looking for a non-straight, non-flush card on the river.

River (£278) 6
As soon has hero calls turn villain says "I'm all in" before the river is dealt, Hero calls.

I obviously don't be expecting to win this hand a huge amount of time but I only need to be good around 25% of the time on the river for the call to be profitable? I have probably made mistakes before this though I assume

Spoiler:
Villain shows 56 and scoops the pot

Don't see a fold against this character.

Some argument for checking turn to snap pretty much any river. Depends how this guy spews

How has villain been playing? Is he betting draws? Hows about bluffs? Single bets or multistreet barrels? Is he betting weak hands for value? Depending on how he has been betting you might be able to fold on the turn. His near min raise on the turn is just setting up a river shove and you don't have a monster hand. On river you are beat a lot but getting too good of odds to fold if he can be bluffing.

Bet pot is an Omaha thing. It isn't really the dealers job to count the pot but in most places nobody is going to complain.

Villain seemed like he would continue with any pair or draw. I had not seen him bluff or float.

Interesting, would anyone else elect to check back turn? Why? I am eager to learn how other people think in these situation .

My thought process was that his range has a lot of straight and flush draws in it and I wanted to charge them to draw (and maybe also get value from hands like JT, 9T etc.).
