Tournament Strategy Against Players Who Limp Their Entire Range

Hey everyone,
I recently played a home game tourny and, as expected, I found that a majority of the players were loose-passive, calling-stations and would limp almost their entire range (saw an open limp on the BTN with JJ). They didn't put much thought into position or anything.
My general pre-flop strategy was to open raise with my "standard" range if I ever got the chance, limp behind other limpers with my suited connectors/suited aces and raise over the limpers with my stronger holdings. And then post-flop, since they generally played like their hands were face-up, I tried to play exploitatively as best I could.
My problem was that I got pretty card dead after the first hour or so and got to a pretty short stack (~12BB). When I play online SNGs I usually would be shoving most of my range with this stack size, but I have never run in to players that play like this before.
My questions are:
1. When more deep stacked, should I be looking to steal pots on the flop if I whiff, even if it would take a very large portion of my stack to do so, or wait for times I can bet for at least thin value?
2. When I get short stacked (12BB or so), is a shove or fold strategy the way to go with most of my range, or should I look to take some other line?
Thanks in advance for the help!
