Game is pretty good. Typical loose/passive with a few good players thrown in. Table calls a lot pre with AX, QT, KT, 76, even 32s, etc., but it’s playing tighter than usual and it’s early so pre-flop raises are still small.
Hero (CO, covers): MAWW, regs know me as being a mix of tight/passive and tight/aggressive with a few non-standard hands thrown in, but this V doesn’t know me well. Last time I played him was PLO; it was his second time playing (he did not last long). I raised pre from BTN earlier with 4h6h, bet my double-gutter on flop and turn with one caller and hit on river. My value bet was called so the table saw my hand. No other hands really that weren’t standard.
Villain (BTN, $300): YWG. I’ve seen him before, but it’s been a while since we’ve played NLHE together. He knows the game, but is just average. Will bet hands like middle pair when someone shows weakness and calls pretty wide pre. Has been calling his buddy to my right really light, but not so much against other players. Been going up and down in chips the hour or so I’ve been there.
OTTH:
One limper (fit/fold passive player) to Hero (JdTd) who makes it $15, Villain calls on BTN, limper calls (amazed that blinds folded).
Given the ranks on the flop, I'd C/F turn. Even if he doesn't 3-b AK/AQs/QQ pre, he's more likely to raise 2 pr+ OTF. I think flatting puts more draws/combos in his range.
Yes, I should have checked turn. I was kicking myself after the hand. I bet thinking no way he can call without a club considering most people think I'm pretty tight. He called.
Unfortunately, I checked river and he bet. I should have called him down considering how he played against his buddy, but I really didn't think he'd play that way against me. I folded and he showed red A7. Ugh. I actually think he thought he had the best hand.
