The only way I call to set mine on a 6bb raise is if 3 players call in between the raiser and I have a pair otb. Its just too expensive. If its a smaller raise like 5bb 2 callers ahead of me. 4bb raise only if one player calls before me. Also I need a clue on what their range is and how they play postflop. Same goes for Axs or Kxs.

Would you play the same way at 1/2? If not, what changes would you make?

That means raising 90% of your hands. Only calling to setmine or flush mine in absolute position. This style will get you back on track.

Work on your leaks as well. What ever you think the problem is analyze it.
Yes. Raise 90% of hands.... Bankruptcy train!

I have a 6800k bankroll myself that I have built playing 1/2 I am not planning to move to 2/5 until I am at minimum 12k. But your in a different situation as you seem to have played well with 6600k. So maybe you should stay at 2/5

You're missing some screws bud. I say 90% of your hands that he plays. Not 90% of hands

When I get to a 6800k bankroll I'll still play 1/2 for the rest of my life.
But I will be retired.
And live off the interest forever.
And drink, and play 1/2, and drink some more, and play more 1/2.
Or maybe I'll play 2/4 limit and just be blackout drunk all the time.
And still never lose all my bankroll.

So what is it? 1/2 or give 2/5 a shot with 3-4 more buy-ins of 300$

move down to 1/2. You just torched over 6.5K at 2/5. You clearly have some large holes in your game. Get humble - move down - work on yer game - rebuild

This yr after logging 1k hrs its 61. It will drop a bit - it has been inflated due to the series but at the same time I have made a few changes to my game.

Before all the haters and bs blah blah blah I have been doing this for a very long time sooo

I play full time at the venetian - my name is walt - I have long hair and wear a black hat and play day shift. Stop by and say hi
Squid, that is a very impressive win rate! Probably as high or higher than any others, congrats! The volume of hours is most imprsssive...I didn't think too many others were playing the hours I put in, obviously you're the exception after reading this.

I had a huge June 2010, but my June 2011 wasn't nearly as good, in fact my June 2011 was about half of what I wanted, about half of what I thought it was going to be.
I'm really not sure what happened to me, my game, during June. Historically I have always had, what I considered, a high hourly. No doubt I wasn't playing my best, maybe a bad run of cards, some bad beats, too many hours -which caused me to make mistakes.....probably a combination of issues. One thing for sure, I'm very much looking forward to posting numbers like yours again.

I don't play at the V much, however I'm almost sure I have seen you around and we've played before, after reading the discription of yourself. I've been at the Bel most of the summer, sometimes the Wynn, a little at the Rio during the series, and some over at Aria. I'm taking a couple/few more weeks off before getting back into the poker groove. If you're amicable we should meet up sometime for coffee..

Ok, whatever works for you. Good luck at the tables. I really hope it works out, and I'm not being sarcastic.

You've been pro for 4 years so who am i to say anything. I just see this a lot so I was trying to give some honest advice.

I know guys who are good players, but they play table games and blow money. I know guys who are good players but they tilt horribly. That's why it's not easy to make it as a pro poker player even if you're really good.

It's your call on whether to move up with a small roll. My advice would be to cut back on those other things for at least a while and then you wouldn't have those problems. It's not up to me though, so gl.

Making 100k a year playing 2/5 exclusively would be pretty sick. I'm sure it's doable too.

50/hr *2k hrs = 100k

2k hrs/52 (weeks) = 38 hrs a week.

I believe its easier said than done. Most people find it hard to put in around 40 hours a week.

I'm sure I'm not the first one to say this but if you are skilled enough to make 100k playing 2/5 you are probably good enough to play higher and should have enough of a roll to do so unless you live like a baller and spend all your $.

These last few posts bring up a good point, how much annual income can a $2/5 player make?

I certainly realize there are GOBS of varibles, how many hours played, skill of players, this month did so much but then had a downswing, and on and on.

But I'd really like hear a number, annual income from live $2/5...anyone?

Are there $2/5 players making $40k per year, $60k? Less? More?

And I must that I don't live by my hourly. I realize it means a lot to some people and it is one way to gauge, probably more suited to limit players IMO. That said, I do keep track of my hourly and its a niffty number, but more important to me is overall how much am I making -which could leed to another argument of working more for less or visa-versa.

If you're crushing (10+ bb/h), getting the volume in without going insane and actually enjoy live then $60k-$80k is doable. If you're decent and "only" play 20-30 hours per week then I'd estimate your yearly income to about $30k-$40k.

6BB / hr = 30$ / hr
6 hrs / day* 4 days a week = 24 hr / week
24 hrs / week = 1248 hrs / year = $37,440

10BB / hr = 50$ / hr
10hrs / day * 5 days a week = 50 hrs / week
50 hrs / week = 1100 hrs / year = $110,000
Pretty much what disorienter said, but that makes it easier to see where it came from.
Really depends on how consistent your game can possibly be.
There's a strong likelihood that you can't play 10BB/hr for that many hours of the week unless you're in Vegas just because I'd assume it's hard to find that many fish to exploit.

Yeah about the same math as I did so it makes sense. However I did 40h/week, I think anything above that is true is beast mode .

Most that respond to this type of question are pie in the sky types. Stop by the v this week during the day and we'll grab a bite at noodle asia - I'll give you the straight dope as to how much I and others make at 2/5 for long term numbers.

Maybe this belongs somewhere else, but I didn't find it, if it did.

Long question short, does anyone keep track of thier 'poker expenses' as part of their win loss?
If I buy a water / soda / food (during a long session) / tip the bus driver to drive me the mile back to my car, I take this out of my poker winnings for the night.
So if I walked awy from the table 100$ up, but bought 3 waters, 1 soda and spend 5$ in chips on those, and tipped the driver 1$, I say I made 99$.
Is this normal?
I essentially treat it like I treat tipping as just part of the game, and that's fully wrapped into my wins and losses. I.e. I never think , I tipped 45$ tonight, or 3%$ tonight, the chips I have are what they are.
It's somewhat minimal, but just wondering what other people do in this regard.

I actually do bring a nalgeen (r) almost every time I play, and fill it (the floor didn't know where to find a water fountain and was impressed that I did. Was beside him self when I told him where it was since it was so close.)
But it was more just a general question. Almost 50% of my poker expenses come from food (7-8$ in a 6+ hour session which is less than .5BB / hr so almost non existent) and ~1.2$ / winning session for the bus since when I win I'm too good for walking to my car.
