Re: Posting Coolers and Bad Beats

1. Any bad beat or big brag I will be happy to merge into the official BBV thread. I can't be online all the time though. If something is really egregious and doesn't seem to be getting my attention, either PM me or report the post, and I'll take care of it when I get the chance.

2. Please keep in mind that this forum represents the smallest games in the room, and as such attracts all the new and inexperienced players. You've played every day for 2 months and realize that folding AA 50bb deep is pretty loltastic. But for someone just making one of their first trips to the cardroom who's AA got cracked, they may legitimately be wondering how they screwed it up and not realize how detrimental such results oriented thinking is to improving as a poker player.

I guess I'm just asking folks to be patient with all posters, and to assume the best of intentions from people posting hands you don't find interesting.

3. There's no strat content in this thread. Would you rather it go in the suggestion box or in the chat thread?

Re: Posting Coolers and Bad Beats

One of the problems with posting and analysing hands is selection bias. The hand was chosen to be posted, often because hero lost and wants to understand why.

Good points. Just suggesting to new players that they should try to think about some other hands (rather than coolers, beats). I guess it's been a long time since I thought about poker in that way. I think the great majority of posts have tough spots.

lol...maybe this should go in the suggestion box lol. Should've thought of that.

Fallsview - I agree and I guess I should really put myself in some people's shoe more often.

Basically - Finals sucks and it's making me tilt in my posts possibly.

Good forum so far and some really good reg posters imo.

Re: Posting Coolers and Bad Beats

I know I just posted a thread about a cooler hand... but it wasn't so much about the cooler as much as it was trying to see if I could have reasonably avoided the aforementioned cooler. Not to split hairs, but wouldn't this be the proper forum for that?

Re: ***Official "It Lives, It Lives" Chat Thread***

And yet, I somehow win $72 for the session.

Shortstacked 44 goes all-in preflop, I call with KK. There's a 4 in the window on the flop. Nice hand.

Loose aggressive button open-raises. Shortstacked BB goes all-in. I come over the top with AKs. Button open folds TT face up (hmmm, he had a hand after all). I lose coin flip.

Short stack goes all-in. I call with KK. For the second time in two straight sessions I find myself up against AA; whew, thank god for shortstacks! I flop a K. Turn brings him a flush draw but he doesn't need that as he hits the A on the river. Funny, if turn is a K instead of J I win 12.5K.

My pocket 99 flops KQ9, I get it all-in vs a shortstack + some other dead flop money. I'm behind and don't boat up.

My KK, ahead the whole way, "improves" by backing into the 2nd nut flush. No good.

And my favourite hand, in the last orbit. I get KJs (clubs, this hand is absolutely killing me in my last orbit), raise a straddler, 3 of us see a K high flop. The bluffy aggressive straddler takes the lead and I decide I'm simply going to let him donk off all his chips to me and start passively calling down. Turn bet/call. River bet/call. You're rivered set of eights is good sir, nice hand. Sure, I coulda raised somewhere along the way, I guess; then again, I did get him to put $90 into the pot when drawing to a 2 outer so I'm not too upset with the play.

And yet, after all that, I still win $72 for the session? How is that even possible? This NL game is going to be a wild ride.

Re: Posting Coolers and Bad Beats

The content is kinda a suggestion, but the intended audience is less for me than other posters, so I'm going with the chat thread. Sorry if it seems rude to ask and then ignore you; I just arrived at this opinion now.

Just as important as posting losing hands, posting hands where you win but maybe made several questionable plays can be very helpful yourself as well as to others. Peeps in most forums on 2+2 always like to post hands where they ended up losing. Post some hands where you win but played ???

Hehe, that is almost always right but a guy who is one of the top 5 worst players I have played with limp reraised with A6o against my raise and 3-4 callers on Monday. I called and then folded my TT on a Q65 flop and the villain won the hand when he was called on the flop and turn by a draw which missed.

Its worth noting that he had limped UTG+1 with KK about 30 minutes before and spiked a K on the flop to bust UTG's AA. Because of that I was basically calling his small raise (1/2 game, I made it 12 he made it 25 so 13 to win 70+) to set-mine with effective stacks of $300 or so.

Edit: another funny story from that game, Tagfish 1 young guy limps UTG in a straddle pot, random old guy limps UTG+2 with 90~ behind , Tagfish 2 young guy in the SB makes it $20 with $350~ behind, UTG shoves for $600+, old guy snap calls, SB folds.

Tagfish 1 Limp-shoved 175~ bb effective with 99
Old guy has KK

AHAHAHahahahahahohohehehehahaha.

Its funny because of this. I folded, but I spent a good 30 seconds trying to level myself into shoving before reason prevailed.

Re: ***Official "It Lives, It Lives" Chat Thread***

Ha, I've actually taken up this line of limp/reraising big hands like AA, even after multiple limpers if there's a retardo still to act that almost always raises big to try to steal the pot.

Last week there was a guy who 3 times during the session had straddled and then re-raised big (like putting in $100+) if people only called the straddle. I was just itching to casually call the straddle with a big AA/KK here and trap but never got the chance. Another guy had the habit of putting his whole stack in preflop (like $200+) vs only a couple of limpers, I mean, ha!, it was only a matter of time but unfortunately my time ran out...

Last night there's a maniac BB who I just know is gonna raise if there's no preflop aggression so I actually resort to limping AA after like 3 or 4 limpers (I know, I know, I'm pretty sure that's horrible, but my read man, my read!). LOL, the button beats him to the punch and raises before him and gets 4 callers; no one calls my 3bet and I take down a $100 pot uncontested.

I've taken this line more than once. At these stakes, the table conditions can happen to make it a huge +EV play often enough. But I still love to make fun of the weak tight regulars who just do it for all the wrong reasons.

Of course I did! I just didn't want to muddy it up with comments in between.

I was waiting on someone to say something about home networks lag issues while 27-tabling or something.

B&M forum.

I did the "come home at 3am" which obv online players don't do because they don't go outside.

You do understand how contrary to human nature this is, though, yes? When I make bad decisions that work out OK, I want to stay at the casino and gamble rather than posting on 2+2. When I make dubious/possibly OK decisions that turn out horribly, I want to leave the casino ASAP and get to my computer to ask 2+2 how I played the hand.

However, I will try to do this more....

My HOC just arrived in the mail here at work like two seconds ago, woo-hoo! I think I'm gonna spend the rest of the work day goofing off and reading it instead of goofing off and doing something else.

Opinions on HOC?

Going to play Friday night pokers. I resolve to play a tighter opening range this session and see how that goes.

Yep me too shortly. Don't feel like a long session so I think I will do a MTT for like the first time in 2-3 years.

Re: ***Official "It Lives, It Lives" Chat Thread***

I'm sitting in my motel near Tunica playing the $55 SCOOP limit O8, my first ever SCOOP event. I really wanted the experience of playing this.

745 left, 396 cash, but mincash is $65. I'm sitting on 5/8 of an average stack.

The 64/20 is our table deep stack right now -- 64/20 isn't as bad as at full-ring HE, but it's still pretty bad -- so I guess you could say my decision to play this was +EV. Probably even more EV than playing live NLHE since I think I suck at live NLHE.

Once I bounce out I'm headed to the casinos for the last poker night of this trip.
