really happy to see this forum going looks like there's a decent amount of traffic as well.

i really enjoy playing live and the vast differences in strategy and approach to online, so am looking forward to contributing to threads and posting my own.

would also like to throw my hat into the ring to be a mod here

Wouldnt it be better to get someone who has some kind of experience playing in cash games or big tournments?

93% sure you're levelling but for everyone else I play ~ 10-15 hours/week of live on average and have done for about 4 years now

*cheer*

Finally, a live strat forum! Looking forward to getting involved here, since i play online rarely, and it tends to bore the crap out of me.

Now, to try to recall some interesting hands!

Yay live forum. I'll try to contribute.

So who doesn't raise a flush when the board is paired on the river? 75% of the time?

It figures....I get busy with work as soon as this forum gets rolling.

Thanks to FoldnDark who kept pushing for this long after I gave up. Glad to see it's off to a good start.

I asked Rapini to make an announcement in B & M.....and all he does is put something in the FAQ's...which nobody reads.....I was looking for a sticky that would have been up for at least a week.

This forum will build the old fashioned way....slowly and steadily. Looking forward to getting involved......I've got a lot of Borgata trips planned for the next few months.

BTW, I play in 2 home games (1/2 - NL200) and when I play in AC I play mostly (2/5-NL500)...some (1/2-NL300) and occasionally I take a shot @ (5/10-NL2000).

I was wondering where that 'announcement' was. I don't suppose one of our mods could ask that a real announcement be made over in B&M?

I made a thread there when the forum opened and it got promptly merged into the LC chat thread.
04-27-2010 , 10:56 AM
I'll see what I can do boys and girls.
04-27-2010 , 06:19 PM
What a welcome addition this forum is. I thought they'd never get around to it.

Or the e-peen containment thread...or maybe just pictures of low-stakes related poker pictures.

Mostly pictures of chip stacks.

Here are some pics from the representative poker rooms I frequent.

Lucky Chances 1-1-2

Lucky Chances 3-5

Artichoke Joes 1-2-2

Bay 101 2-3-5

Look at my chip stacks! I only win and I have the big chip fortresses to prove it!

....

Commerce Casino 3-5

Anyways, mine are not that interesting really. But I always like looking at the fortresses of solitude that some people stack up, and share if you got some!

Weird colored chips in California card rooms - but still cool.
04-28-2010 , 03:53 AM
California isn't standardized by rule (like AC) or by tradition (like Vegas) so people do get weirded out when playing here for the first time, but there's still some method to the madness. I've found these to be fairly regular:

$1 - grey or blue
$5 - yellow or red
$20 - black
$100 - white

And I've never played in a game to have a chip bigger than that, heh. How the get away with grey and white ships is usually ones and hundreds don't play in the same game.

steamypile, I don't want to have a bunch of LC threads at this point, so I'm going to combine this with the chat thread. I expect you will still get some good responses.

I'm really getting the impression that we need to take note of where the hands are played in our analysis. I mean, SoCal cardrooms play different than LV casinos play different than some lone cardroom in the mountains somewhere that is the only respite of degens in the whole state.

Just sayin.

So do I go play for a measly 3 hours or so today or just keep trolling the forums? Hrm....
04-29-2010 , 07:43 PM
Gotta get that postcount up!
04-29-2010 , 07:58 PM
Is greater post count +EV?

EDIT: Does that mean when I get to 100 posts, you'll stake me for live 5/10?
04-29-2010 , 08:06 PM
I've never played higher than 2/5, and that only rarely. I'm a 1/2 player.

Tonight I'm going to a homegame that's .25/.50, so sometimes I'm not even that!

Last edited by KurtSF; 04-29-2010 at 08:10 PM. Reason: so no, I won't stake you for 5/10 :)

Doesn't mean you can't stake me for 5/10! Stop avoiding the question.

Kurt - tired of me spamming the forum yet?
04-29-2010 , 09:03 PM
Not yet.
