Seems like probably the fairest approach - what’s happened to Talking Stick?

Sounds like the power will be off for a while due to flooding of the generators/power equipment. At least a couple of folks from here in Tucson got screwed imo by the hotel next to CAZ (Hampton Inn) - they wouldn't allow cancellation of their reservations and charged the full amount.

From the CAZ/Talking Stick thread:

Updated statement in relation to the impacts from the Aug. 11 storm:

Talking Stick Resort continues to mitigate the impacts from the storm of Aug. 11. Hundreds of people from multiple agencies have been working around-the-clock since the incident. The Salt River Gaming Board and management appreciates the collective work that successfully evacuated more than 600 of our hotel guests. Equally important was the quick action by emergency services and our gaming floor staff to safely guide the exit of all of our gaming guests without incident.

The last 24-hours has revealed new information to management who have determined that at this time the property will remain closed with a target re-opening date of Sunday, Aug. 19. Entertainment and gaming activities scheduled to occur this week are either cancelled or will be rescheduled. Ticket holders should contact the Box Office at 480-850-7734 for further information.

Evaluation since yesterday resulted in a clearer understanding of the reason for the generator malfunctions which caused the power outage and forced the temporary closure. Specifically, the multiple storms leading up to Aug. 11 contributed to the incident. The water from the fourth storm flowed into the area where the main and back-up generators are located, causing serious water damage. Teams have been working on clean up non-stop while the operations team is assessing options for access to power and a phased re-opening plan.

We are continuing to communicate directly with our impacted hotel guests. Reservations have been halted and all property events have been cancelled until further notice. Guests should contact the property at 866-877-9897 to receive further information regarding their existing reservation.

Guests who were on the gaming floor at time of the evacuation and that exited the property with gaming chips can exchange their chips for cash starting today at Casino Arizona, 524 N. 92nd St., Scottsdale, Ariz. Slot machine players who had slot tickets in hand but were unable to redeem them due to the incident can go to Casino Arizona to redeem their winnings. Impacted players with questions regarding their slot play can call 480-850-7708.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resume operations at Talking Stick Resort to the level of excellence that our guests have come to expect. Our website, www.talkingstickresort.com, will provide updates as they are available.

Went to my first Vegas strip club tonighy for a friend’s bachelor party.

I spend more than I wanted to but less than I could have without self control.

We went to Hustler.

Kind of felt bad for the girls dancing on stage. They looked bored at times and people weren’t paying much attention and focusing more on the girls walking around.

We got in for free - sort of. Paid $40 for a limo from planet Hollywood to the club. So basically an $8 per person charge.

Also was disappointed by the lack of service from waitresses. Think we sat around for about an hour waiting for someone to ask us if we needed a drink.

As for Talking Stick, are they taking a hit on a guarantee?

Brag: Finished 3rd in a NL tourney.

Beat: 27th annual GG family reunion poker tourney with just 21 players.

Variance: 3rd was supposed to get their entry fee back ($2), but someone shorted the pot, so technically I was the bubble boy.

Lol at someone shorting the pot in a family tournament - with a whopping $2 entry.

Proof that GG isn’t the biggest nit in his family.

Bonus to making the final picnic table was a round of late night hot dogs, which really hit the spot.

The 'guarantee' in these poker donkaments is as Chip's 'free' entry to club. I have never seen a guarantee not be "based on ### entries [aka not-guaranteed]" not at CAZ, not anywhere other than online.

As for the prize pool I'd give all survivors an = share this early, but don't really object to their opinion either

So just got in from a day on the water

Went out with Wakesurf Orlando - dude that owns it is a guy named Tarzan. He was our captain and coach. He uses the boat that he claims has the best wave, a Malibu lsv23 - sticker price 140k. I have done an absolute sht load of waterskiing behind a ski nautique - but have never been behind a full on wakesurfing boat. This thing is damn nice and impressive as hell.

SPC and I did 90 minutes of surfing between us. We were both exhausted and fulfilled by the end (270$ total). The wake itsef has 7 different settings to control its height. we never made it to the top setting and had a fuggin ball. I could not recommend this more. Had an absolute blast.

Turns out Tarzan is a world class coach and one of his team riders just got back into town and wanted to train. He allowed us to stay on the boat and watch him coach the #2 rider in the world while he did his thang. He was sick, and it was inspiring to watch.

SPC had never wakesurfed b4. She got up on her 2nd attempt. She was able to drop the line and surf on her own by try 4 or 5. If you have any snowboard, wakeboard, waterski, surf, or skateboard experience it will translate over for you and this will be ez.

He operates out of lake conway which is not far from orlando airport and is a beautiful lake. I give him 11 out of 10 stars and highly advise anyone who likes to have fun to go out and give this a shot

MFW you read Chip's strip club story, read the line "I spend more than I wanted...", and then remember Chip doesn't drink ***Official "It Lives, It Lives" Chat Thread***

Lol, actually got to see a free flop with 83o in the BB with like lol 3 bbs left (trying to ladder up, lol), saw a 654r flop and before I could bluff shove the guy shoved on me out-of-turn. As tourney director, I let it go.

The good news: the office building is getting a brand new HVAC unit.

The bad news: it won't get here until some time until next week and I'm fricken cookin.

I guess I'll have to wear my best business boxers to work.

Any general thought on companies that serve beer at work?
For those that have had it offered / currently do, how do you feel about productivity during / after drinking and depending on that answer does it mean that you just put in more time later to make up for that?
08-14-2018 , 06:39 PM
they serve beer during the day? or they have a free bar for after hours?

every company I worked in had the latter but I never saw the former on an organised basis...albeit, in London advertising in the 90s, we regularly had a few pints at lunchtime and probably had a proper lunch (ie out til 3.30 or later) once every few weeks

Free beer after hours is just a great company perk. Literally nothing wrong with that imo.

I'm talking about places that have beer that people can drink during working hours.

One place I worked (about 12-13 years ago now) used to do so on Friday afternoons. Some even with clients, depending on the value of the client.

Overall, meh.

There’s a company liability issue if anyone got a little out of hand but whatever. And it’s really only a viable idea in office environments.

Not convinced it’s a “great” company perk. I think there’s way better perks but YMMV.

Just got caught cycling in a hail storm. 15% chance of precipitation before I left. Couple fisherman and I took refuge under the same tree and shrubbery. Made our way to their truck during a lull and they were kind enough to throw my bike in the back and drop me off.
