I played two small live tournaments this week, and sadly got busted by these A
K
and K
T
hands. I personally think I've made the right decision
in both situations, even though I'm not used to play live games. And I must say that I don't remember all the information on those hands, because, firstly, I don't have much experience in Live Games, so sadly a lot of it's informations don't stay fresh for long.
Let's start with A
K
, shall we? The blinds were 400/800 and the
UTG calls,
UTG+1 folds, the actions is on me on
UTG+2 with a stack nearly
24bb, I was quite excited for that, because I was receiving only trash or non postflop equity hands for the last 40 minutes or so such as K3x, 23x, T7x, etc... The field in general was a little bit
loose, that is why I was choosing valuable hands or at least hands with a reasonable postflop equity.
I know that A
K
does not play well in a multiway pot, so I wanted to isolate the hand to get some protection and also could represent some hands like AAx, KKx or QQx with a raise. There was 2k chips already in the pot and I raised to 3k, maybe for isolation wasn't a good size bet, because it will give some good
Pot Odds to my opponents, even though it worked fine. The table goes on gap, the
SB decided to call, the
BB folds and the
UTG decided to
3-BET me for 10k.
The
UTG's 3-BET range that I was thinking of was 88+, AKx, AQx and AJx. I was getting 53% equity against his range, certainly I didn't want to call that because eventually I'd have to move all in in some street (due the way this hand started) then I decided to shove exactly
20bb preflop and plus the
SB call didn't scared me much, I knew my hand was behind but it had some good equity
Heads Up, so I was trying to get some more
Fold Equity from
UTG and make the
SB fold.
The
SB folds and
UTG calls and shows a J
J
, the pot was 34k chips, flop was, 2-3-T rainbow, turn Q
, river Q
and he takes down nearly
43bb with Two Pairs.
Well, last but not less important the K
T
, this hand was very short, I did the
Late Registration in the tournament and the blinds were 200/400 and I had a stake of
2.5bb, I was in
Late Position and it was the best hand I was dealt since I started and I decided to shove that.
The
BT calls, the
BB re-shoves and
BT calls again, we go to a
Showdown 3-handed Game. The
BT had ATx and the
BB had Q9x, the flop was, 6-7-4 rainbow, turn 8x, river Jx and the
BT takes it down with Ace High.
