How difficult is it to play live?

I hope this is the correct place for this question. So i recently moved to Barcelona where i could play live at the Casino, but since the lowest stakes are 1/2 i'd like to know how difficult you think it is. I'm a winning player at 25 NL and now i'm playng also 50 NL online so i think i'd have edge vs a lot of players, but my question is how difficult is it to play live for the first time? How tough do you think it is the field? Is there anybody that played at BCN's Casino? Do you think is there any profit to play live? I mean, obviously there is, but is it worth to learn to play live? How much time do an average online player need to adapt to live games?

Re: How difficult is it to play live?

The games are really weak. Just go in there with the attitude that you are a beginner live player and play basic ABC poker...ie:

play tight
be the aggressor, not the caller
play in position
don't bluff
fold to 3-bet (they have aces or kings)
Don't protect your blinds.
Don't c-bet with air (unless it's checked to you twice)
Don't say anything during a big hand.
Observe the good players and try to emulate them.

What I posted above is not optimal live poker, but it is winning live poker and if you do these things you will already be a step ahead of most online players. Once you feel comfortable playing live, then you should begin to open your game up more.

IMO if you can beat 25nl and 50nl online you can very easily adapt your game to 1/2 even 2/5. Live is funny because sometimes you'll find certain rooms 2/5 games on avg softer than the nut peddling at 1/2.

Just realize that live players at these stakes just don't bluff that often. ie 3b is very strong and when some random fish leads river after calling 2 streets he's got the nuts 99% of the time.

Good good solid TAG poker and open up when you get a better feel for the dynamics of live full ring poker.

your biggest problem will be that you might be intimated by the potsizes. in live 1/2 it is pretty normal that a preflop raise is bigger than your buyin online. they dont raise 3x, i can tell you that.
