Local poker house. 1/1 $20 minimum buy in. I buy $60 average is $40.

Play for hour, tight but aggressive and up to $260ish in an hour after playing one hand w 88 in the BB and hitting a set.

Im again in the BB, w 85clubs.

Fold fold limp villain raises $4 call, fold fold call hero calls.

Flop 9c 7c 5d.

Check, villain bets $20, call all in for $17, fold hero calls.

Turn 7h.

Check, Villian bets $60, hero calls

River 2s

Check, shoves for $100 hero folds reluctantly.

I preferably fold pre and check raise all in on the flop having played, right?

I felt super dumb when villain showed AKo vs AKclubs for the all in.

I've played here a few times before and everyone is a fish. All gamblers aside from me and one or two other players. Everyone is loose aggressive or loose passive.

I hadn't played a hand for 2 orbits and got an ego trip trying to play 85s out of position against them.

Since it's a home game, I'm ok with pre and flop.

Everything after is really bad.

I don't mind pre call if you commit to playing for stacks on combo draw flop. That is a dream c/r flop. If you go heads up vs all-in you're at worst a coin flip plus pot equity and have piece of board so you're already ahead of many of his draws. I'm looking to get it in on flop here myself however if you can't make this play on that monster flop then fold pre.

Yea....thanks folks. I figured as much.

I knew I played it super wrong the moment the river hit.

Whether we play a hand well or poorly does not depend on the river card.

The question you must ask yourself is if you had won the pot would you still have recognized how badly you misplayed the hand? Don't let the result determine how you feel you played a pot.
