How important is it to balance your bet sizings to not give off sizing tells? I'm talking preflop and whether or not you can get away 1/2 pot bluffing and 2/3 to 3/4 pot value betting without them noticing. I'm assuming for 2/5+ if you give off these sizing tells you're gonna be toast but if I can get away with it at lower stakes I'll do it. Right now I'm opening the same size preflop and the only thing that changes it is position (6x EP, 5x MP, 3 or 4x LP) and number of limpers. But opening 6x UTG with A5s or 22 just feels unnecessarily big.

Its not necessary with balance strictly at 1-2. I think (know) you can get away with alot of crap at these stakes due to horrible opposition.

However what would change that is when youre logging alot of hours/volume against the same villains over long periods of time. If so, those patterns can get extremely transparent- even to bad recs and fish.

In my case the usual playerpool is not that big, and i do log alot of hours with some of the villains- so i keep a somewhat "balanced" playing style in some areas of the game. Amongst other things i always raise the same amount of BB preflop, regardless of hand strength, and i also roughly uses the same C-bet sizes regardless of hand strength. Past that base i mix up my sizings alot, depending on dynamics going on that night, who is on tilt, who is losing, who is playing more hands than usual and so on.

As stated, first thing to recognize is that if you're not playing with the same people there is zero reason to balance bet sizes. If you are playing with a lot of the same people, you need to determine if they're capable of doing anything about it. Next, you need to determine if they are paying attention to that specific thing. If in the incredible circumstance that they are, you should realize that it takes many many hours to pick up on anything significant even if you are being completely ridiculous with your sizing tells.

So, in short- you should almost never have to deal worry about this. The variance in bet size based on the minute details of a given situation is probably enough to throw off those who are actually watching for it since they won't know what factors are affecting things.

If the preflop sizing telegraphs the strength of your hand, Vs will pick up on it, but if the variety comes from position and number of limpers, you can usually sneak one BB plus or minus of your normal sizing with a few of your holdings.

If you also vary your sizing based on then tendencies of Vs in the pot/yet to act, you have enough variety in your sizing already that effect of the strength of your holding would be tough for most players to pull out of the noise.
