AQ Flop Decision

$1-$2 9-handed home game.

Hero: Known to be a winning player...but tighter, frustrated image this session as I've been card dead and playing snug. Relative history - 30 min ago, raised light on button to $11, quickly laid down to $35 3-bet from SB nitty player. $305.

Villain: Winning player, thinking, more TAG than LAG. We've played a lot together, but not many heads up pots as we both know enough to stay away from each other. $280.

Folds around to hero OTB with AQ. Hero raises to $11. SB folds, villain in BB considers for 10 sec and 3-bets to $35. Hero believes he has best hand and 4-bets to $100. Villain calls pretty quickly.

At this point I had V range at 66-AA, AK, AQ -- sound about right?

Pot: $201
Flop: 643

V checks after studying board for 5 sec. Hero?

If hero believes he had the best hand pre-flop, hero should shove.

Re: AQ Flop Decision

From your read on the villian would he be the type to not give credit to your button open? If he's your typical TAG and you said he's been avoiding moves against you because he respects your play, I find find it hard to believe he doesn't have a hand here. I don't like the quick call to your four bet as well.

As played, maybe c-bet/fold. Do you think a c/r may work?

I am gonna ship it vs this guy all day. I doubt that he expects us to be 4 bet bluffing given our tag/card-dead image. He is going to fold a lot of better hands probably 77-TT that he was just setmining for and def all AK besides AK

If you really think this is villain's range then you need to shove on this flop. There is a lot of dead money, villain will fold JJ/TT a significant amount of time and we still have 26% equity against those hands.

Personally, I think villain's range is more like JJ+, AKs.

Having the best doesn't mean you should 3bet. U should be ahead of a winning player's 4bet calling range....are you?

Re: AQ Flop Decision

I thought I was ahead when I 3-bet, but no, his 4-bet calling range OOP crushes my AQ. That said, I think he calls a flop shove with 99+ which is a large part of his range, so I'm really just shoving to push out 66-88 or AK.

Hero checks behind.

Turn 2

Villain quickly leads for $100. Hero?

I shove preflop. For the reason you have a tight/ card dead image. He should respect you and give you credit. As played, fold the turn. Try abut of speech play trying to get him to show his cards when you muck for info
