Late night in a 2/5$ villain has about 850$ And I cover. We are short handed and I have played with this villain several nights. He is an older guy prob in his 50's. Decent thinking player Taggish player wont make too many moves or I should say I have rarely seen him get out of line. Hero's image is good tonight Probably viewed as Tag but villain knows I'm capable of making plays. Winning image and doing ok tonight. Playing six handed...

UTG 10$ straddle is on

HERO is UTG +1 with Ah Kd raises to 35$

CO folds

VILLAIN calls 35$

BB folds straddler calls 25$

FLOP (pot 120$ minus rake)

Kh 9h Jd

UTG Checks

HERO bets 70$

VILLAIN calls, UTG folds

TURN (260$)

6s

HERO bets 135$, VILLAIN calls

RIVER (530$)
2s
HERO bets 100$ VILLAIN thinks for a few seconds and calls....

The last bet was sort of a blocking bet/ value bet. I would normally check to induce bluffs from draws but I dont think this guy bets his busted draws that often and I think he knows I might do that and I didnt want to face an all in and have to make a tough decision. I duuno maybe I'm crazy... tryin to learn about spots like this with one pair. Can I still get value from KQ? Does he maybe call my smallish bet with J high flush draw?? Thanks in advance...

Seems fine except I'd bet the river stronger for value. Villain isn't folding Kx and may call with worse if he levels himself into thinking we had a busted draw.

I like $200 OTR, otherwise well played.

I think betting larger on all three streets is better.

Don't think the V would play AK that passively. You only beat KQ, AJ, T8 or flush draw. The turn definitely needs to be bigger though. Why did you bet so small?

What would you expect this player to do with KJ, K9, J9 hands before the river?

I would go more like $80 OTF and definitely size slightly larger on the turn as well (2/3 pot should be fine). River action really depends on reads. If villain can't fold a pair, then I like a small bet for value (though I would still go a bit larger, around 1/3 pot or so). If villain is the type to bluff a missed draw, then c/c.
